"Supreme Leader, we cannot build helicopters, the technology doesn't exist"
THE BENT TREE CLAN BUILT THIS IN A CAVE
WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS
With a box of rocks
With a box of sticks
“Well, I’m sorry, Supreme Leader, But I’m not the Bent Tree Clan.”
"I bet they're Boat Mormons"
"I bet they build their own boats!"
"Well I built this battleship"
"That- that's different"
"Yeah, that's different"
LOL
Well, it is a ship, not a boat....
That played JUST as I found&read this comment.
Yes that is dialogue from the video.
Ah, yes, gotta love the barbarian battleships. Because it makes so much sense for random tribes of barbarians to have enormous dry docks and enough steel to build a 70,000 ton battleship with 16" guns. It is kind of hilarious watching barbarian battleships terrorize the AI civs, though. I usually just have my own battleships stay back and watch. - haha - It makes almost as much sense as learning Nuclear Fusion from an Arctic tundra tribal village.
@@vbscript2 barbarians dont build battleships... they steal them
I was playing a multiplayer game recently with friends and there was this one barb clan that managed to get Men-At-Arms in the ancient era. They were right in the middle of the continent so they terrorized everyone. It was hell, but with enough numbers we managed to defeat the metal monsters of Bent Tree!
Let me guess, babylon was in that game? |
Babylon causes these things due to their insane jumps through tech which allows barbarians to get stuff
should mean someone unlcoked them, most likely gaul or Babylonian
@@Helleuw123 Ah, that explains that mechanic. Babylon games can get quite wack then.
@@robinsandquist yeah and for man at arms gaul is also with his early unique district that unloks a high end tech which ahs men at arms as a possible issue civ for op barbariansXD
I like to imagine that they were an alien exploration squad
I love how this council is way more productive and civilized than the civ council.
fr
I like that in this one, Venice is shown to actually have decent relationships. He warns his comrades not to visit because there's a bunch of war going on, and then tells Oog that he's "still got it" after seeing the Giant Death Robot. He's only minorly used as the butt of a joke here, and is legitimately just hanging.
Could also be an in joke that barbarians don't attack city states that were originally barbs
@@dennishallada890
No it's even better, Venice being a former barbarian tribe means that Venice actually has cultural ties with city states (which are all implied to have been barbarian tribes).
Instead of the massive amount of vote buying that the other Civs think their seeing, it's actually Venice laundering money from the barbarians all while encouraging the other Civs to try and outbid them to double up on the payout.
Venice actually being the public face of the Collective Barbarian Hoard is perfect.
@@madasahatter6485 oh shit, I like that
@@dennishallada890 is that actually true?
@@failure4452 Yup! Turn on Barbarian Clans mode, nourish them to citystate-hood, and take notes. Also applies to zombies too, if you have zombies mode and barb clans mode on.
For real tho i like the image that the barbarians are so successful cause they're all just working together.. more efficiently than the so called "civilized" people.
I kinda like the idea that barbarians turn into hobos. Maybe this video is the schism that sends them down separate paths
Can't own a nuke without Gandhi wanting it.
Barbarian murder hobos secretly work off collectivist principles - everyone works together!!
...To burn your mines and steal your boys
Barbarian linguistically just means not Roman.
@@quinnsinclair7028 That's not true, actually. The Greeks invented the base of the word, "barbar," because it sounded like how foreigners spoke
I'd like to believe that the Kyle barbarian is the one worker who scarpered from Cheeseland back in Civ 5 and eventually founded his own clan.
Thank you for the new headcanon.
That would explain why he likes farming 🤔
@@lyrethefolfAnd Venice saying "you still got it, man"
I always loved playing fractal civ 4 and finding an island off in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of barbarian cities protected by modern armor and attack helicopters.
oh good, a fellow civ4 player, nice to meet you
I genuinely miss the barbarian cities from that game. Made trying to colonize the Americas more interesting when playing on the Earth maps.
Tilted Axis, where half the continent is only very cold Barbarians.
We get that in real life too, look up "Australia"
Sea Wakanda
It's time to play, what part of this sketch *isn't* CGI!
It was a tough one this time, but I think I can say with complete confidence that the tank, the battleship and the giant death robot are the only non-CGI parts of this video.
Seriously tho I'm pretty sure the majority of the stuff in the wide shot is CGI. I don't even trust that they're sitting on actual bricks.
I have to say Venice is also non-CGI. No computer can generate something that egregious.
I'm quite sure the beards are non-CGI
@@davidm382 No the beards are most definitely Carpet Growth Inhanced (Barbarians spell it with an I...).
Well, we know that Kyle *is* CGI because there's no way he has time to be in front of a camera since he's so busy making CGKyle
Guess I should've seen it coming with the "city-state" and "gold to their head" hints, but I was as surprised as them by the sudden apparition of the one and only E.D.!
Only difference being I went "yeah, Venice's back!" rather than "long beeping noises!".
"Leopard 2A5 armored tank" I HAD TO PAUSE 🤣
I’d like to believe there wasn’t a death robot in the scene and it was still a tank, but since Enrico hasn’t seen past 2 scouts and 3 archers, anything that moves on it’s own (as far as he can tell) is a giant death robot.
Of course ghostfish became Venice. xD I've never played civ but this series with recurring characters and continuity makes watching these a treat.
I like to think ghostfish was Venice all along.
After Venice got destroyed in previous videos, he moved to EU2, fled back to Civ, made a barbarian tribe and eventually rebuilt his city.
Timeline’s probably a bit rough (been a while since I watched every civ video). But Venice is immortal so it’s not impossible.
Who's ghostfish?
@@senseishu937 ghostfish these nuts
@@senseishu937 there's a mode you can turn on which gives barbarian clans unique combat styles, names and options to become city-states.
One of the sea-raider clans is called Ghost Fish.
@@iBloodxHunter ah, thank you for explanation!
It just goes to show, all Civ's start as barbarians, whether you succeed is all about ambition in the end! Also makes perfect sense that Venice were barb's.
And that two of the barbarian clans tried denouncing them
A barbarian clan turning city-state turning Venice, and trying to convince other clans to turn city-state, is basically just an MLM
that's actually the first stage of Humankind: you're just a nomadic tribe until you accumulate enough science, get big enough, or hunt enough megafauna.
If someone else advances before you, you can be the barbarians raiding them. And if you get wiped out at that stage you just respawn because you can't lose until you become civilized.
@@bobmcbob49 can’t societal collapse without the society! 😆
There's always that 1 barb that's smarter than the other's. Next thing they know. All their friends die around them as they learn they're immortal and running an empire against other immortal beings
Fun fact: Kyle actually had to digitally add all the beards in this video in post because the cast had to be clean shaven for Zach Snyder’s The Guards Themselves
....of COURSE, it was Venice.
It literally pains me to have not seen that coming.
Also, I denounce Venice.
Most Serene Republic of Venice, a powerful Merchant Republic that dominated the Mediterranean trade for centuries, I wonder how they did that.
"Buy poster", yes that explains it.
Ah, Door Monster and Civ Barbs. A classic combination. Good pasta and red wine. Peanut butter and jelly. Never gets tired.
Venice and Being Denounced
@@wombataldebaran9686 Venice and Denouncing Venice
“I bet they’re Boat Mormons”
Apostle with Heathen Conversion: 😎
Love Venice being a barbarian clan that just upgraded, but what happened to all their advanced military?
Probably sold em. Merchant republics, am I right?
@@DoorMonster Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if this was some elaborate plan to give Denouncing Venice an official backstory of Grog founding it to spite Venice.
...I was honestly expecting Enrico to start begging the clans for military assistance.
He can pay! He has a lot of money, you know, except it's all burning in Venice right now. They can have it if they help defend the city-state, although they were probably going to pillage it anyway.
@@voxvolhynia5400 it's underwater but that's relevant
Jesus, seeing Door Monster post a Civ 6 sketch is so nostalgic, glad to see you guys going back to your roots
Til I saw this comment I hadn't realized how long it's been since they made one. They made one other Civ 6 video about a month ago but before that it's been 5 years. Here's hoping they got more in the works!
Yeah, this feels so good.
If anything their roots are Fable series animations back when they were called "White Lightning"
@@Billaxle I'm from the CIV V age of the White Lightning HQ.
I remember the outro.
It is not even one term in game yet
So its the beards that are the CGI right, every one has a Tank in Texas.
Correct
"I bet they build their own boats"
"I built this battleship"
"That's way different."
"Oh ya totally."
"I like what you've kept exactly the same with the place." What a great line.
I would like to denounce the former ghost fish clan!
SULEIMAN!
When the world needed it most... Venice returned.
I have never played Civilization but I am convinced and glad that denim jeans are an integral part of this tribe.
Oh shit that means that one of the civs is culturally influential over the barbarians.
Why not? They've got ships, armored tanks, and death robots. Jeans could totally be in style with them
@@faolan2174 Denim jeans are the natural next step following the technological wonder of tanks, ships and death robots, of course.
My country's people are listening to your pop music and wearing your bluejeans!
“I think they’re making the ocean bigger?”
😂
That was great.
A truly gripping tale of a leader trying to reconcile his ideals of his tribe's historical legacy, and the inescapable realities of the future.
Trying to do what's best for his people, even as they refuse to accept the changing world at their own peril
Barbarian be like: "So I stubbed my toe the other day and made this.. New Lamborghini
"Rugg rugg ugh rug, ugg gug rug gug!"
("Our resources, all pooled together, can get us another tank.")
"Nice, you still got it man" is exactly what I think everytime I'm laughing through an upload xD
Enrico Dandolo was a great barbarian warlord in this world…
I’m dead!
I always wanted to play as the Barbarians in Civ games. One day! Or whenever i find a mod for it.
Pretty sure there was a mod for CIV 5 to play as the barbarians
@@trevorgolnick5066 Yeah, it’s “Barbarians Evolved” by charsi
Technically anything north of Rome can be called Barbarians...
Civ 4 shipped out with a scenario that you could play as the barbs ...
Pretty much just would be safe not to say "I wish civ let me do X" if you haven't seen all the games in this monstrous series. Even if the base game didn't allow it, you can bet a dozen or more mods for at least half of the civ games out there have been created to let you do just that.
You can with FireTuner
Let us hope that the Barbarian Clan Council never meet the Random Hobos Who Bother Jeffrey Council. Those hobos do so much with just knives and guns, let alone a Death Robot.
this is a prequel to the hobo council
Best crossover ever
The stank on the line, "I bet they *farm* things" is palpable
Everyone denounces Venice. No exceptions!
My favorite door monster detail is that no one's beard will ever match their hair
You know, I was gunna say something clever about how Ethan is no longer the only barbarian, but then noticing the clan that "let all that gold get to their head" became Venice, I just died.
well, atleast now we know what kinda city state they became I guess. 🤣
Woah, an Ian/Ethan mixup. It's been a minute.
@@backdoorproductions4983 i'm to tired...
VENICE RETURNS!! I love the energy of these new civ sketches
"Giant Death Robot" could be the name of a Rockband.
Or a Unit in Civ.
Or both.
That does it. My next rock band in Civ VI is going to be called "Giant Death Robot". Thank you for the inspiration!

Glad to see you guys still have it. I needed these laughs 2day
Well, I ordered one.
This fits my nationality wonderfully. I might need to get one.
Miss Venice
I didn’t cry tears of desolation
You did
i love that, even as barbarians, it is kyle that's building all the things. I don't think he knows what sleep is :p
Love that you have the same actor for Venice, and that he was one of the barbarian chieftains! I am surprisingly deeply invested in his unfolding character arc XD
FINALLY!
some real gentlemen!
Making fine plans!
Wearing their most dapper attire!
So proud of them all.
I feel Ethan though when Venice pops out of nowhere lol. Also always great to see Venice again
Barb-Ethan walking away violently cursing at the sight of Venice amuses me greatly. Although with advanced weaponry like that Ghostfish tribe did themselves no favor by aiming to be a City State instead of something of actual importance. Selling all your weaponry for the life of a punching bag? I'm with Barb-Ethan here.
Very wholesome display of organized barbarism. I did not see Enrico coming.
That punchline was rich. Pun intended.
Obviously, this documentary film has been translated from the original Barbarish.
I was not expecting Ghost Fish to turn into Venice but I'm so glad they did it mades this skit infinitely funnier.
I started playing Civ just to understand these sketches better and now its become an ungodly obsession. So thanks for that.
Welcome to the cult
My dude invented the tank before either the internal combustion engine or gasoline, +rep
Well when you have 4 giant men with muscles to rival bears and the endurance to move a mountain internal combustion engines are generally less appealing on the power to weight ratio side of things.
@@inventor121 True, true
Now this is the triumphant return of Enrico Dandolo I didn't know was ever going to happen, and I'm very happy with how it happened. Amazing stuff.
Ah yes, Venice. They do, in fact, have a lot of gold.
In my experience, the main difference when using the barbarian clan mode is that there are way more city states in the Arctic.
If you think about it. This could be a new rise of Venice. With the clans working together only a super power could stop them.
Props to you guys for filling this with so many inside jokes that only civ players who play on that game mode would get, while still somehow making it funny for general gamer audiences too
I don't know what it is about this skit but it looks really good. The lighting just really pops. Also I see Kyle is in a pair of black pants, very on brand. Good to see people following their own advice.
I’ve always thought of barbarians later in the game as terrorists. It helps make the advanced weapons slightly more believable.
First thought before watching, they better have a tank. First thought after leaving: yep that was 100% accurate
Glad to see Venice's humble beginnings.
I’m a fan of a lot of the media you make your sketches after; Skyrim, Pokémon, Phasmophobia, Stardew Valley, and others. Never played Civ, but somehow the sketches are funnier when I have literally no context
Ah yes the giant death robot
The pile of fire wood beside them is just the chairs they broke during introductions.
I did not see that ending joke coming! 10/10 on comedic timing!
Great stuff as always
Absolutely incredible! Great job on the sketch.
WOOOO!!! New Civ video!!!
Love to see it!
So stoked this series is back! I love these! Great job guys :)
I like the enter a game of Civ like this. Post apocalypse. These people are emerging from bunkers, where all the records were somehow wiped out from the old world and bunker society collapsed, regressing us to club wielding savages once more, where our children were taught little to nothing but basic survival skills. Thus, human history restarts. But there's still some... things, around. Especially from those who never went into the bunkers.
I’m so happy to see the civ sketches again! They and sketches like them are why I years ago subscribed. I was worried that this channel was going under for a while because you guys mostly stopped posting (or slowed down posting sketches) but the channel seems a lot healthier now. Thank you guys so much for sticking with it. You guys are one of my favorite channels on CZcams and I can’t wait to see you guys put out more content.
fantastic. Always love seeing civ videos
Excellent, gents! Love the content, happy to see you batting a thousand.
Thanks for still doing these videos, i still remember the civ v ones and you guys are a part of my childhood.
Now this is a loosley organized culture i can get behind.
I love what you have kept exactly the same with the place.
Nice! The civ videos have always been some of my favorite on CZcams.
I feel like I should have anticipated that Venice cameo, but it totally and pleasantly caught me by surprise. Delightful stuff!
DANDOLO!!!! omg i was loving the sketch antway but that put such a big smile on my face!
Fantastic! Love all your Civ content! Enrico Dandolo is always a lovely screen presence 😊
Gold as always guys. Keep up the great work!
this is Amazing. never expected Venice here, but it was brilliant!
Love the skits. Classic and pure Door Monster making humorous game skits about mundane mechanics.
I love this, absolute banger from one of the best sketch comedy groups on youtube!
Civ stuff is always the best stuff. Glad to see Venice!
the sheer amount of serotonin every single time Venice pops up in your skits is unparalleled 😂
Their society has much to emulate
Just got my first GDRs yesterday, and then I see this gem! I love your Civ sketches, this ties in well with the rest
Having recently gotten civ VI I must say these just continue to become more and more enjoyable to watch. My friends have explained multiple differences between civ V and civ VI so I get all the jokes.
Love this one, and fantastic poster. I'm getting that one for sure.
Everybody's favorite Doge is BACK!
So stoked for more Civ sketches!
This is my Dad’s favorite sketch of yours! Might be my favorite Civ sketch of yours
The civilization videos just always turn out great lol
So that's why the other civs dislike Venice. It's not just about the money.
Here before the barbarians take the workers
so glad u are doing these again, I always laugh hard from these civ videoes
One year passed, I still hearty love this sketch
