As a lifelong Eugenian, getting accustomed to Portland's freeways has always been a fun adventure on my treks northward. Surprisingly, I've never personally driven the Banfield Expressway, since most of my destinations were either off 205 (Oregon City area), or off 405 (out to 30 to head up into the "Panhandle"). Great videos as always, Kyle. Thanks for sharing!

Yes; this is the SAME US 30 that begins in the Garden State of New Jersey and is known as the Lincoln Highway = while in Oregon, it passes througth Perry and The Dalles (while I do have a cousin named Perry, he has no connection to the Oregon town of that name, as he lives in greater Seattle). While Portland is the City of Roses, New Jersey I think of as the "Veggie Garden State" due to the sheer number of vegetable farms in and along the US routes - including US 30l So you have roses at one end, and tomatoes, potatoes and carrots at the other.
Sweet! I like Hilly cities and Portland looks like it has the right stuff in that regard.

Portland's freeways are in serious need of widening.
No need for widening, the D.E.Q. is like the U.K.s M.O.T. there are almost no vehicles on the road that are unfit to be there. There is always a right side emergency hard shoulder, and CCTV is monitoring everything you do, so if you break down ODOTS I.R.V.s (Incident Response Vehicle" will be there shortly. Also the states "cash for clunkers" may still be in affect or if your caught without licence,registration and proof of insurance whilst driving your vehicle will be impounded on the spot. It won't be scraped untill you are able to retrieve it, if you cannot the tow service who took it takes lien of it. Oh and the 'lanes" are federal standard 13 feet wide everywhere except Hwy (freeway) 217 which is 16 feet wide. Do your math. before commenting on our roads.
Does us-30 overlap westbound with I-5 north and vice versa
