Hey guys when drilling fibreglass, specifically Gel coat, run the drill in reverse for a couple of seconds to start with. By doing this you'll prevent the gel coat chipping and always get a clean hole. Loving the progress.

Nice when a plan comes together. Everybody needs friends like Matthias.

Marina you should write a children’s book about your little “welding snail”. 😂

Solar arch looks fantastico! Cannot really appreciate before the mast, boom and sails are up. Kudos for Matthias! And for you two!!!

Stu & Marina I just had a thought about your solar arch. With the considerable load on the whole structure from wind, solar panels and covering you will need strong backing plates underneath the fibreglass, probably the same size as the mount plates. I don't think washers would spread the load enough. Aluminuim would do the trick but probably you have already thought of this.

Great one today, the solar arch is looking good, and hopefully you are now enjoying the shade in hot weather. Thanks Stu, Marina and Mathius too. Excellent skill.

Unit would be much stronger if you welded gusset plates in the corners

Once your solar arch is up & operational, entertain some diagonals to strengthen, once under way. You’re will appreciate it. 💐
