- We examine the 5 deadliest and most powerful Power Armors in Fallout History, on today's episode of Fallout Lore.
From the Original Fallout, to Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and beyond, we examine power armors, from the t-45, t-51 and t-60 all the way up to the x-01, and the Hellfire. The focus here will be on lore, rather than in-game stats.

Hmm... Could you do Fallout Power Armor vs. Star Wars Darktrooper?
Did you forget about the tesla power armors?
The lore of fallout is retcon alot since the games are made by different companies. If you watch oxhorn he states the lore is weird.
Uh raider power armor is clearly the most advanced 😤
Ah, you too are a man of culture I see.
Without a shadow of a doubt. Why shoot the enemy when you can body slam into them because you have the whole alphabet of hepatitis in those exposed rebars to infect them with?!
lampshade Genius! It is obvious the raider factions are far superior to the BOS and even the enclave!
No its horse armor
Under the logic of fallout four all the different parts of armor are just different shapes of metal. The frame is the real technology
Another settlement needs your help here I'll mark it on your map.
I destoryed it
I claimed it for the brotherhood, so find me a different one to claim as well.

I've always preferred the Fallout 4 armor to the one in Fallout 3. In 3 I just looks like a normal suit, but in 4 it literally looks like a walking tank, looks heavy, and generally badass.
Just like another suit of power armor...
Until a pipe pistol hits it and it shatters into 30 parts
Fallout 4 armor is too big. It's not a mech suit but f3 is slightly too small but closer to the truth. Mostly limited by game design in 2007.
@@TheIrishRushin I kinda like how the power armor in fo4 is like the very first iron man suit where it's bulky and makes you feel like a walking tank.
@@TheIrishRushin the suits in fo4 are what the power armour was always meant to be from the start. A piece of equipment meant to turn a regular trooper into a tank
@@memes_man52 I think there should be heavy fo4 power armor and lighter suits like 3 and nv. What I really don't like I guess are the enclave suits all across the commonwealth. Or the ugly redesign. It would only make sense if the enclave continued working on a design originally developed and tested in boston.
End lore result would be the smaller Enclave mk1 > xo1. T45 converted to heavy t60. T51 still superior to all but enclave. Fusion cores are still bs. T51b has energy for 100 years.
My thoughts on the production sequence: T-45 was developed pre-war. T-51 was an early war (Battle of Anchorage) design. T-60 was a late war improvement on the T-45 that was being issued to home based troops (with the possibility of them being rotated to the front after their units were fully upgraded) during the time around the initial events of Fallout 4. X-01 was a next gen developmental project started a bit before the T-60 began being issued to home troops with a few prototypes built at the time of the bombing that ended the war. X-02 (aka Advanced Power Armor) was a continuation of the X-01 program that started up when the US Military remnant (the Enclave) had acquired enough resources and the production capability to do so and was pressed into service rapidly (less red tape). The X-03 (Hellfire Armor) took the lessons learned with the X-02 and built on them to make a more mobile yet durable suit of armor.
and the X-02/T was basically just the X-02 with blue glowing sparky baubles, because Enclave enjoyed its blue glowing sparky baubles.
Basically, any Tesla variant of ordinary or power armour was simply the base series with energy dispersion devices attached. As such, it it isn't so much a type of its own, though the X-02 variant was by far the most common and generally constitutes its own power armour classification.
You know it could be that T60 and T51 were actually being developed at the same time but the T51 just outperformed the T60. I think this because T60 has so many aesthetic design similaritys but the T51 is very different.
Its almost like the original designer of T45 stayed on to build the T60 andsomeone else came in to make the T51. The T60 was likely cheaper to make which was why it became the armour of choice for home based soldiers, while T51 was sent overseas due to better performance.
Jericho Strayker:
From the wiki: "Developed in early 2077 after the Anchorage Reclamation, the T-60 series of power armor was designed to eventually replace the T-51 power armor as the pinnacle of powered armor technology in the U.S. military arsenal. Incorporating design elements from the earlier T-45, the T-60 was deployed domestically among U.S. Army units just prior to the dropping of the bombs."
So the T-51 was probably in development _during_ the Anchorage Reclamation but was too late to see action during it. However, it appears that issues with the suit -- likely expense -- curtailed its future development in favour of the less sophisticated T060 series.
Dylan Wight the T-51 was used during the Anchorage Campaign. It's deployment was one of the major factors in the US "success" in that war.
Corwin Hyatt: Ah, and here I thought it was exclusively the T-45 series. Though that explains the presence of the Winterized T-51 available during Fallout 3's Operation Anchorage DLC come to think of it...
Will say...I was a little surprised when I saw fallout. Once again you hit it outta the park regardless. Great job eck!
Me to
regarding T-51 and T-60. lore wise if i remember right T-60 was meant to replace T-45. not 51. as T-60 was a retrofit of T-45 to incorporate more modern design elements in. in-lore T-60 is considered to be more durable then T-51 but also considerably slower. not an issue for say. the east coast brotherhood due to their fleet of vertibird. so over all both are the best at what they do. one embodies the jack of all trades role and the other embodies the idea of power armor making someone a one man tank
I know it's an old comment but figured this is as good a place as any to say my two cents. I think the lore brought forth by Fallout 76 says the T-60 was an improved version of the T-45, not actually better than the T-51, just far easier to manufacture due to the materials and forms, while still offering sufficient protection. Mobility was an issue (though not as much as it was with the T-45s) but it was somewhat balanced with support from other types of troops.
I’m one of those few people who isn’t too familiar with fallout (forgive me people) so videos like these are great for people like me. Keep up the amazing work Eck!
Christopher Murphy lol same
Lol I’m glad I’m not the only one. I sent this video to my buddy who is obsessed with fallout (he has tattoos it’s pretty cool) and he says this list is on point. The only thing he would change is adding the T-51b winterized armor. He says it’s the longest lasting in fallout 3.
Christopher Murphy I think the Winterized is just a modification of t-51 for the war in Alaska. I’m certain it isn’t canon although good spotting that.
KhakiCapitalist
Well does that matter? Yes it's simply a Modification BUT it's a Superior Design Modification that outranks the regular T-51b's.
The Winterized T-51b should simply replace the Standard T-51b on this list is all.
Also WHY wouldn't the Events in Operation: Anchorage be Canon?
Flames Of Chaos I meant the stats, I wasn’t saying Operation Anchorage wasn’t canon, lol.
I'm intrigued that the Enclave Tesla Armor didn't make it onto the list.
In all honesty its just the Advanced with tesla coils slapped on
I was thinking the same thing. It's a prototype, but 100% should be on here as number 2.
Please make more fallout videos i love this series

Galaxies Compared: Personal shield technology compared; Dune, Halo, Mass Effect, Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate and Warhammer 40K
Yes.. some one else who remembers Stargate :)
Aren't we for getting Starcraft
Yes please add Starcraft to the list
Edit: and Mass Effect too as well
Yes. Shields technology in all sci-fi universes :-)
T-51 was the current mass-produced suit just before the bombs fell. The T-60 had just finished acceptance trials and was about to be put into mass production, hence why the Brotherhood was only able to find a small number of complete suits and why subsequent suits had to be carefully built by hand using what ever materials and part the Brotherhood could scavenge. So yes the T-51 was the most powerful in widespread us even though the T-60 was more advanced. What I find to be more intriguing is why there is a suit of Enclave X-01 painted in Nuka Cola Quantum Livery in Nuka-World.
I think the nukacola armor was a very early prototype (before it passed trials as a way to raise development funds perhaps?). It's also not uncommon for military manufacturers to build a prototypes successor along side the original idea so the X-01 could have been designed before the war alongside the t-60 but never taken beyond prototype stage, which would fit with its experimental designation "X"-01 though that designation is most used with aircraft, but it is a possible theory (The Chrysler prototype of the Abrams was designated XM-1).
Or it could have just been Bethesda wanting it to be a competitive and sought after set of armor so they decided to bend (break) the time line a little bit to make it work.
Because Bethesda could give two shits about playing fast and loose with their treasured Ip's cannon. Fuck Howard.
Or More Likely John Cayleb-Bradberton was involved in some shady shit with the individual who would make up the Enclave and somehow got the suit and the Enclave then arranged for him to be turned into a head in a jar for shits and giggles/retribution...
The galaxy zone that the x-01 is found in is all about showcasing the "technology of tomorrow" it makes sense that the most advanced power suit ever conceptualised would be found here. Also given that nuka cola is such a big company they could probably afford the power armor. I don't understand why there is an x-01 suit in the power plant though, that baffles me
You guys clearly know your shit but when did ultracite ever come into play
The Chinese in the Fallout universe developed power armor as well? Interesting. Could have sworn that was a US focus while the Chinese focused on and just about perfected personal stealth technology.
The US was the ONLY ones to produce Power Armor as far as we know, Though maybe there was a Black Market for the stuff and reverse-engineering done by the Chinese during the Sino-American War.
That fits what I remember. The Black Market and reverse engineering are both very strong possibilities as well. There is a really big hole in the lore between Anchorage and the bombs/missiles hitting the US and China that might hold the answers since there were other battles (the most recent pre-bombing fighting was touched on in the news broadcast while the player is waiting for the Vault Tech guy to get to the door in Fallout 4).
I got a notification for a response from you Flames, but it isn't actually popping up on this thread... Weird. Side note, had a longer response ready to go, then I saw that allot of the info I was looking at involving the T-45 was retconned out when Bethesda took over the franchise and not replaced yet. :(

This is the comment I have no idea if you'll get it so yeah....Cheers if you do :)
Well there's only less then 1 year in between the Battle of Anchorage and the Great War (When the Bombs dropped) so if there was any reverse-engineering and black market deals or even spywork to gain knowledge on how to craft the Power Armor T-45's/51's/60's ETC I'd think it'd have to be done much much earlier than between the Sino-American War in it's later stages and the Great War. I'd say it'd need to be done at the Sino-American War early stages or even before hand for the Chinese to gain access to Workable Power Armor.
The fighting and armed conflicts that were occurring when the bombs dropped on October 23rd 2077 was the Riots in Canada fought by American Soldiers/Conquers/Peacekeepers and Canadian Rebels/Freedom Fighters and the Siege of Beijing fought obviously by the United States Armed Forces/United States Navy and Power Armor Divisions against the Chinese People's Liberation Army and Navy.
As seen in News Broadcasts (IF they are to be believed) in Fallout 1 and 4.

Yeah I thought this video was kind of weird but I guess there are people that don't know much about Fallout lore.
And Tesla power armor
narrowninja157 yeah but Tesla is just a standard power armor with Tesla coils on it
@@bretonfou7046 it's was a special varriant only on the advanced power armor the enclave made
We have been blessed
Wow...im amazed at how fast you are
I'd say that the T-51 and T-60, at least lore wise are supposed to fulfill different roles. The T-51 was created to basically fix issues with the original T-45 armour which had some design flaws and exploitable weaknesses due to its rushed production. The T-51 was supposed to be lighter and more flexible and was intended as the mainline infantry power armour. The T-60, to me at least, seems like a much heavier suit, emphasising surviability and stability for firing very heavy weapons like miniguns, at the cost of mobility. In my mind, these two suits are supposed to compliment one another, with the T-51 equipping most power armoured soldiers and the T-60's serving in a heavy assault role.
Spartans vs N7 and UNSC Marines vs System Alliance Marines
N7 (If you mean the ones from Mass Effect) would lose since Spartans are bred and geneticly modified to be super soldiers while N7 in Mass Effect are just the best soldiers.
While regular SA Marines are better than UNSC ones because they have things like personal shields and all military personel get some genetic enhancements.
Which Spartan generation are we talking about?
N7 Might be as good as Spartan 1 because of their genetic enhancements, but 2, 3 and 4 are better than N7. This is all without the Spartan Armor. The skillset might be on a similiar level (at least for Gen 2 Spartans), but Spartans have usually significantly stronger augmentations and armor. However the skillset of the N7 is propably better (equal at worst) than that of Gen 4 Spartans.
Edit: So, to summarise (excluding Gen 1 Spartans): Armor/Augmentations: The Spartans are definitly better here
Skillset: Depending on Spartan Generation: Gen 2: Spartans are propably better but N7 are still extremly good, Gen 3: N7 is definitly better, Gen 4: N7 propably a bit better.
At least in my opinion. About N7 skillset: Even failing N1 training is a great honor because of how hard it is.
Edit 2: With skillset I mean training and experience.
china never used power armors they used stealth suit also t60 was being designed and built right around the time the bombs were dropped so never saw to much action initially but the plans and machinery needed to make them was out there and known mainly by the army which was reason the brotherhood of steel knew were to find and build them from the beginning
all power armor types and variants PLS!
T45D The first one ever made T51B used in the battle of Anchorage T60 used in Boston and West Virginia since there are no other appearances before possibly a prototype X01 X02 and The Hellfire X03 all designed by the enclave
Zeal_K2 Enclave continued the development of the X-01 which had been started by the US Military (though the line separating the US Military from Enclave is fuzzy at best since the Enclave evolved out of the remnant of the US Military post war).
@@detectivepayne3773 you missed Tesla power armor
@@narrowninja157 the tesla power armor is adaption of an X01 or T60 from automatron it doesn't really count as a standalone armor
@@detectivepayne3773 I didnt know it was on the t60 unless it's just a make shift add-on by fallot 4 .shouldn't be in there if you ask me it should stay enclave tech Because they are the only ones who know how to make it after the war. Is there no lore that Eck does not know?
I think it is more a matter of information accessibility and time required to look into a subject that are his only real limiting factors. The breadth of what he covers is nice, as is the depth in those topics where the information is available. :)

SkyNet vs The Flood
142nd Attempt
Scenario: SkyNet beats the resistance, and after that it is alerted of the Flood coming to Earth, and it is given a basic rundown on what the Flood is and what it does, it gets 3 Years to militarize and prepare for the Floods arrival,
The Flood will arrive using High Charity's, including it's fleets, weapons, and so on, in Scenario 1a it gets 5 High Charity's, in Scenario 1b it gets 10 High Charity's, and in Scenario 1c it gets 20 High Charities,
The Flood may not use the Logic Plague on Skynet, nor may it just glass the planet,
SkyNet may not just send a bunch of nukes to the High Charity's,
Basically no hard core weapons of mass destruction that could basically end the match up in a few days if not hours,
If SkyNet can survive until Scenario 1c then I personally say that it would win, although if that is not enough each scenario could in fact be a wave that SkyNet has to destroy, which would make 35 High Charity's in total, and each wave would come a week after the wave before it was totally destroyed, giving SkyNet the chance to regroup and analyze whatever data it received from the battle, whether it be more efficient ways to kill Flood Forms or even gathering and using/reverse engineering Covenant Technology for its own use,
It's Ya Boi Daniel, skynet would lose badly. If the forerunners infinitely more advanced robots an AI can’t stop them then skynet won’t be able to. In short skynet would be squashed like a bug
+Bilbo Baggins The Forerunners were not "infinitely" more advanced than SkyNet, especially at the end of the war,
In this scenario there is no logic plague, which is why the AI lost in Halo, so it should become a unit vs unit battle,
The flood would win because of there ability to controll AI but this would only happen if a proto gravemind is built however if Skynet takes out the flood as soon as they arrive then yes Skynet would win because i dont think the flood would have a immediate source of bio mass but if they can go a week on disturbed then i would give it to the flood
Edit:also i think its should be allowed for both factions to use all there weapons on "hand" so i say the flood should be given the ability to use the logic plague u have to keep in mind in the beginning stages of a flood invasion they are very weak due to there being no gravemind like being to control them another way skynet can win is if it can figure out a way to become like the necrons from warhammer but thats probaly impossible
@@itsyaboidaniel2919 Not this again.
I've said it before. A 21st century computer can't beat a zombie plague if it is so large it can literally cover the entire planet in goo 3 times over.
Flood stomps. skynet aint shit
+guinea pig reich I already said there is no logic plague because that is unfair and boring,
I think with multiple High Charitys there should be enough biomass for a grave mind so a central intelligence shouldn't be a problem,

Fallout power armor always feels cool when you put it on
I think the X-01 and the T-60 are the best looking ones in my opinion tho the T-51 is a classic as well. Power armors are just so awesome.
Can you do a top list of the deadliest fallout creatures?
I think that the t-51 was referred as the pinnacle of pre war power armor because the t-60 entered service on october 23rd or shortly before
Short and sweet video
Thank you
How I feel X01 power armour and the advanced power armour of the enclave fit together is that the X01 was being developed by a specific company during the mid to late stages of the war whilst the wide spread T-45 and T-51 were being manufactured (the T-60 then being fielded and tested on the home front by curfew officers as seen at the start of fallout 4 as the upgraded version of the T-45 power armour) and the enclave knowing of the existence of the X01 armour being developed took it and made improvements ergonomically to it (see the lowered armour around the head area to allow for better mobility and sight of the user). So X01 and enclave advanced armour aren't the same but the advanced armour is an upgraded modified version of X01 that improved on the design
2:13 It is my own personal head canon that the T-60 is actually worse than the T-51. it’s larger meaning it’s more unwieldy and heavier so slower, and it has exposed pieces like the tanks on the back and pipes around the mid-section. I believe the T-60 was designed for peacekeeping and police roles while the T-51 is designed to be more practical with the smaller frame, lighter weight, and mostly sealed pieces.
T51 has the best helmet ever. Mean af
As far as i remember, the biggest reason for the T-60 to replace the T-51b was supply and demand. The T-60 was way easier and cheaper to mass produce as the T-51.
My theory on how the different power armors work in relation to each other.
First came T-45, then T-51 power armor came into production. It was the pinnacle of power armor design adopted fully by the military, but select units deployed the T-60 suits. Simultaneously, the X-01 system was developed at the behest of the Enclave just before the war, and they used it to eventually developed their advanced power armor. We know that the MK2 version of that armor was essentially a cheaper, easier to deploy and maintain version made in the years the Enclave spent regrouping after the rig exploded, and that suit was developed into Hellfire armor to bring back the advanced capabilities of the original Enclave suits.
If you were to ask me what my favorite suits are, they'd be the tesla T-60 with Atom Cats paint from Fallout 4, and the Hellfire armor. Both combine excellent bullet resistance with the energy weapons resistance needed at at time when groups like the US army were widely adopting laser weapons. The tesla armor also has bonus laser damage as well.
Eckhart doing Fallout on this channel? Is this a crossover episode?
Moar pls.
Is it just me or the the thumbnail looks satisfying to look at
You should make a video about The Enclave from Fallout
Could you do a video about star wars fleet tactics? Including famous and successful tactics from clone wars if possible. Thanks.
Lemme explain: The X-01 suit IS a different suit to X-02 or advanced power armour, you can find Arch Dornan wearing a X-01 set in fallout 2 and can wear it in Fallout new Vegas, T-45, T-51 and T-60 (T-60 was used as a riot control suit) they were made publicly, X-01 was made by the government secretly before the bombs fell and then the Enclave finished producing the suit, they built the Advanced Power Armour after you destroyed the oil rigs in fallout 2 and their available supplies to produce their suits thinned out, and so they built a cheaper although less effective alternative called X-02
I’d consider the midwestern power armour as second/third, as it was a combination between the APA and the T-51C
The X-01 was in prototype stages as the bombs fell the nuka-cola quantum isotope version was being placed in the quantum river ride in nuka world as John Caleb bradberton’s head was put into the cryo machine thus leaving everything preserved in time for the sole survivors arrival.
Regarding the X-01 discrepancy, Oxhorn did a pretty decent video explaining how everything works out
I'm glad the Mark II Powered Combat Armor made a good position here!
My therory is that the US hired contractors to build armor and the X01 and T-60 were competing but the T-60 won out because it wasn’t as expensive but the enclave found and produced and upgraded the X01 into the APA
The T-51 was the prewar standard for power armor, as with all weapon systems advances are made during the conflict and you have the development of the T-60
Ik This is an old vid but in regards to the T-51b and the T-60, you are right in the sense that the T-51 was the pinnacle because it was the most advanced WIDESPREAD power armor, the T-60 was still in the prototype phase and being used as police units. And the Advanced Power Armor and the X-01 I don't think are the same. I think they are very similar because the x-01 could have been a prototype of the Advanced Power Armor because the government was restricting it for themselves, and once the Great War came, they used it in small numbers with I think in the lore old T-51b units. They continued to perfect it and that's when they gave us the Advanced Power Armor.
*I kind of thought the Tesla Armor was the Commander PA over the Advance, but then again, I never got to play FO3's expantions*
The reason it states that t-51 power armour was the pinnacle before the Great War was because the T-60 power armour had been produced but never saw active combat so remained as a showpiece before the war when in comparison the t-51 had proven itself at anchorage through a trial by fire the T-60 was similar to the X-01 in that capacity where it was superior but hadn’t really been tested in combat and was unproven if it worked
The T-51 was the best widespread armor and the T-60 and X-01 (Prototype was prewar) were competing to be used by the US military but the T-60 was finished first and was deployed a few months before the bombs and the X-01 was later turned into the advanced power armor by the enclave
