La Ronde was a beautiful park when I was a child. Back then to cross to the other side of the lake your had two options: cable cars and the mini-rail. The mini-rail used to go all around the park and even went through the water slides (there used to be a water park). The park was well maintained and beautifully decorated, with lots of flowers. There were all kinds of entertainment (mini golf, diving shows, etc.) All the rides were operational. And then it was bought by Six Flags, and now La Ronde is just a pale version of what it used to be.

The Boomerang was meant to operate in an amusement park called Tivoli, in Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain), but contruction was not completed and the park never opened to the public.
Back in the early 80's it was painted in Yellow and spent quite some time standing, but not operating, until it was sold to Le Ronde.
The ferris wheel comes from the same amusement park in Gran Canaria too.
Since I never got a chance to ride any of them, I am extremely happy that both rides found a new owner and are still operating to this day.
I wish I could travel to Canada and ride them, so I could have the chance that I never got when I was a kid.
    Thanks for the video!

This is our home park and visit every week. One of many problems here is the employees hating their jobs. This causes very slow operations and other issues in the park. One exception though is the ride crew for Vampire. Although you can expect a bit of stacking on it, the crew tries their best to dispatch fast trains. They are by far the best and most professional in the park.

For the record they’ve replaced the original trains for Le Monstre in 2013 with way worst ones. The 4 original’s trains had 7 wagons with unique colors and Monster faces in the front. It was crazy fast and awesome. That’s the ride that competed against big boys SixFlags coaster in a Facebook contest a while ago. These new trains with only 5 wagons completely destroyed the ride and I’m sad that we’ll never get to experience the true Monstre experience again 😓

FYI - The Minirail's final year of operation was in 2019. It was demolished in late 2022, so the ride is no more. And dating back to the park's opening in 1967: Spirale and Galopant have been permanently retired (in 2018 and 2019, respectively) and the park is looking to remove them as well. The only original rides left operating are the kiddie-coaster, train and boat ride in the children's section.

I used to go to La Ronde back in the 90s very often, from around '93, but mostly '94, '95 and '96 are the years I've been to regularly. The last time was in summer of 2001.
There was a building for Nintendo, called the Megadome (or Nintendo Megadome), that place as a kid was my bubble, my little 'second' world. During the summer of 1996 (around July or August) I recall going to the Megadome and - without knowing about it beforehand - I noticed they had 'something weird' and new, on their demonstration desks (looked like columns, inside of which they placed a small TV, and below the TV you could see the console). They actually had the Nintendo 64 on demonstration _before it came out_ officially on the North American market (it would come out about 2 months later). I got to play Pilotwings 64 and, of course, Super Mario 64 for the first time ever. I'm not even sure I ever saw preview pictures of either games in gaming magazines yet at the time (maybe but if I did, I forgot about it). I recall being completely blown away by the graphics and the "3D" movement and space. I'll never forget it.
They also had a building for an interior theatre-like Virtual "ride" called the Hydroid '94 (full CGI short movie), which I believe they had for only 1 summer (of 1994). The following year the Hydroid 'movie' was replaced for Dino Island (in French they called it the "Volcanozor"), they also replaced the original one for the follow up (Dino Island 2). The seats in the room were moving (pivoting) to imitate the 'vehicle''s movement in the movie. Those movies can still be found here on CZcams by the way, nice to see them again. But the 'full experience' had to be lived in that room, it was dimly-light, the sound quality was pretty good (pretty much like a smaller version of a typical modern theatre room), the screen size was also large enough and the general atmosphere was always good before the movie started. However, more often than not, the room had a terrible smell to it, my assumption at the time was that it was dried out puke, as gross as it sounds I wouldn't have been surprised if it had been the case even as a kid (if not, it would have been dried out fast foods or drinks that people spilled all over the place and the staff probably couldn't nor didn't want to clean it all up regularly). Despite that, I loved it.
That little section at La Ronde with the CGI 'movies' building right in front of the Nintendo Megadome was my sacred ground lol, had to go there every single time I went to La Ronde. And, of course, I'll also never forget their Haunted House, it was super cringe but - at the same time - iconic and still amusing. I also liked the Condor ride, and the 'original' version of Le Monstre (with the original trains with the monster faces at the front). They also had a pretty tough ride called the Astronef (looked like 2 "pick axes" doing a clock-wise + counter clock-wise rotation; and each one would pass next to the other doing their respective rotation, and would eventually stop the rotation as the people get upside down and stayed in that position for maybe a minute or two, people lost their keys and pennies and wallets there, and probably also lost their consciousness, lol I actually never tried it but I could hear the screams from far away), not sure what happened to that one.
For me the "Classics" (from mostly '94 to '96) were:
    Nintendo Megadome
    Hyrdroid 94 / Dino Island
    La Pitoune
    Le Monstre
    Condor
    Haunted House
The Boomerang (I think it was painted white back then)
Monorail (for relaxing after eating, mostly, before going back to the main rides)
Pirates Ship (Bateau Pirate, now that one was tough for me, only did it maybe 2 times; but I loved to watch it lol)
L'Ovni (stands for UFO, looked liked a really big saucer-shaped UFO with some fancy sparkly paint on the exterior shell, and it would spin VERY fast (with people seated inside of it, from outside you couldn't see them, only could see the actual UFO just spinning madly; I've done that one a _single_ time and almost got 'sucked' out of my seat from sheer pressure... I may have been too frail at the time to do that one and I got scared of it ever since after, but I would always stop and watch it nonetheless)
The rest is just extras and part of the atmosphere (not to mention the various plush-prize mini games every couple of meters).

Worked there for a couple of years. The consensus among employees is that the parc is underfunded, poorly managed and largely neglected by SixFlags. It was much better kept before sixflags came in, but it also didn't have crazy high budget rides like the Goliath. The ride-ops are unionised (unlike other sixflags parks) and the park is chronically understaffed, so they have no motivation to push themselves too hard on the grueling 13h shifts, leading to slow throughputs. These things don't stop people from having a good time though, you just have to curb your expectations. It's not trying to compete with larger high-profile parks, and the low entry fees reflect that.
The Super Manege was removed as its tracks and original arrow trains were nearing the end of their lifespan, and it wasn't a high profile coaster that would be worth rebuilding. The Monster's trains were replaced a decade ago due to spare parts availability for the old trains, and It's been running at a reduced capacity ever since which doesn't do it justice. There are plans to eventually re-build it into an RMC hybrid, it will make it worth re-visiting. The Spirale had a major mechanical fault in 2018 and has been closed ever since. The City of Montreal prohibits them from demolishing it as it is considered a landmark, so there is a slim chance it will reopen someday. The Demon has had nonstop downtime since it was built, its really a cursed lemon of a ride. It's still pretty fun, hopefully you'll get to experience it one day. The two frisbee rides (Manitou and Titan) don't go as hard as they could to limit downtime from cleaning up vomit, It seems people are much more likely to get nauseous on frisbee rides. I've been on the Titan running full blast and man, it's a whole different experience.

For me, the park just isn't worth it except for a Goliath marathon, honestly. Not that I can visit Canada anymore, so these parks are just memories to me now. It also seems nothing much has changed at La Ronde recently.
I could happily sit on Goliath all day without a break if it was a quiet day, I would literally do it 50 times and that would more than be worth the entry. The most I haver ever marathoned was Apollo's on a quiet day at Busch, one time we got 5 straight rides in the back without getting off LOL, and when we did get off it was to change row, that's it. If no one was in queue, we stayed put till they were, then we'd switch. We avoided the front row for this reason besides just one ride. It was 38 rides total, but we still did EVERY other coaster and some flats at the park in the same day. 50 is possible if you devote to one ride only on a quiet day. You'd need a minimum 5 rides an hour on a day with a minimum 10 hour roster so it would be rare but possible. I'd do it on Goliath! We did Alpengeist twice (one front one back), Lochness once (back row), Wild Maus once (crap), big bad wolf once (back row), escape from Pompeii once, the magic carpet thingy that is now gone once, Orbiter once, and Apollo's 38 times. From morning till night. It was a May Saturday and for some reason it was just deadsville. It wasn't warm, but it was open reasonably late as we finished with a double night ride! Well late dusk, almost night. Is one of my fondest memories of all time and I guess that's why I have a *huge* soft spot for Apollo's. We all have our nostalgic soft spots don't we?

By the way, I think Ednor can be easily fixed in the same way the Great Nor’easter was fixed! Along with all the other Six Flags SLCs (Darien Lake, America, New England, Discovery Kingdom, and Mexico). Additionally, Le Monstre should be RMCd. Last but not least, Sunkid GmbH should provide new trains for the Boomerang.

i feel really bad for la ronde , i question its lifespan , now that vipere was cancelled, cobra and super manege were removed its really suprising that its still alive , even tho they have goliath vampire and le monster , there isnt really another reason to come here , i think the only way la ronde can bring back its guest is by getting a new ride , doesnt nessisarily need to be a coaster just a new flat ride to bring back guest , by that they will most likely attract guest to there park to advertise a new coaster , a single rail where cobra used to sit or a spinning coaster where super manege was will boost park attendance , and by looking at the map near boomerang theres only trees so maybe open a new section or a new ride will really help , and if nothing happens to the park i think it will be sold of to cedar fair or something in the lines of that so that then they will make the park way more enjoyable to attend

Six flags bought it a few years ago and hasn't made many changes except take out our beloved "pitoune" a log on water type that had been there since 1967 the year the park opened... the only good one is Goliath for sure but they were supposed to put a new ride every year... ok pandemic wise we can skip the last 2 years loll . The prices have skyrocketed and the food is now way too expensive. We could bring our own food before that was great. There were indoor rides and not many people go on the big wheel its just too damn long to rotate once... the manitou was for kids . The Monster is god awful so many head and neck injuries over the years its 30 years old. The mini rail has not been working for 2 years it ised to take you from one end of the park to the other (2 parkings lots 2 entrances). The only great thing is the Loto Québec fireworks every year from La Ronde and you just stay there and they're right above you its every week for like 2 months Countries competing for 1st place. The Halloween festival is cool every year they have like 4 haunted houses and some outdoor zombie running after you and its opened till 11pm ( at least it used to be) but this year they close the park on mondays and at 7 week days its so crazy i mean we have sunlight till 9h30pm in the summer ... And this year they took out the Mc Donalds that was there for decades near the kids rides... they're gonna fuck up the only park operating since 1967 . We had another one too in the 70s and 80s it was right on the waterfront opposite la Ronde loll... Six flags suck major balls and are gonna drop us soon im sure were too small for them but i mean, damn, its on a man made island in the middle of the very small island of Montreal in the St Lawrence ... there's no place for more people its already packed ... Grant you its nice to have so many nationalities living together so many different foods to try and cultures to learn from.

I think this park made on the worst decision possible when they got the SLC. The batman clone came first so why on literal earth would you invest in another 5 inversion inverted coaster with less capacity and is much worse in almost every category?
