"We need someone to get us out of this (APC) mess"- Peter Obi

  • The crisis over the zoning of the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for next year's election has pitched aspirants from Southeast with two governors from the region.
Four PDP presidential aspirants from the South East, namely Peter Obi, Pius Anyim, Sam Ohuabunwa and Nwachukwu Anakwenze, complain that Governors Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state and his Enugu state counterpart, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, are working against their aspirations. At a meeting of their own in Abuja, the four PDP presidential aspirants from the South East agreed to work together to ensure that one of them emerges the PDP flag bearer. They did not say how they intend to go about it. Anyim, who addressed journalists after the meeting, said the four aspirants have been meeting for some time, hinting that more persons might soon join the race.
Although the PDP has not zoned its presidency to any region despite calls for it to do so, the calls however, have been very loud from the South-east, a region that has not produced any democratically elected executive president since Nigeria's independence.
Our guest is Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra state and former running mate to Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 general election.

Obi has no knowledge on how to manufacture & produce. That means the funds to develop & support the SME will be spent on trading business and maintenance activities. No country will see real development doing that. We've been doing that since the colonialists left us and it's never worked. We see what Obi left of Anambra as a governor. He claimed he saved some money when the state needed infrastructure so badly. The money he saved disappeared too quickly, courtesy of his successor. This is because, nothing was institutionalised during Obi's terms. He did things in a ragamuffin style thus not building the needed strong institutions. He didn't help Anambra to manufacture or produce anything though he was sitting on so many natural resources for 8 years!
I hope the Lord will not allow him to fool us.

The retrogression of Nigeria is deliberate and systemic and handled by actual individuals. We cannot leapfrog these things for "business" or money, because those businesses will never see the light of day without fixing these things. That is how Fashola said fixing power was simple but when he got in close he was met with why it has not been done already and we know if he was successful in making those words a reality. @@Biobele Thanks for your corrections. The way things are already heating up and moving with such momentum, I forgot that we’re only actually in the primaries.
All the same, we need a capable hand. Atiku should finally throw in the towel. He’s had multiple opportunities. Nobody’s fault it didn’t work out for him. He should pave way for others, if he has the decency of an elder statesman. That’s if there’s anything like that in their political lexicon in Nigeria. One would have thought that their Zoning formula was sacrosanct.
Regarding your forecast, I won’t bet against you. Anything can happen in politics, especially Nigerian politics. But it’ll be painful to lose Peter Obi.

Another inspiring presentation by HE Peter Obi. Always attacking the issues with potential solutions. While I regret voting and campaigning for PMB, because I had believed his personal stance against corruption and military background would help change the country, I did not pay attention to his incapacity in terms of wealth creation. Now we have a proven wealth creator with impeccable record of accountability in public and corporate services. I am compelled to believe that we will get it right this time with Peter Obi! He is the only one with the complete resume that fits the role at this crucial time!

With Peter Obi you don't get fanciful (yet empty) political rhetoric. He is simple, and straight to the point. He has clear understanding of what the problem is and has simple little solutions. He is not going to solve all our problems (no one can), but he will do a whole lot. Focus on productivity as against equity in sharing is him thinking differently. This is the time for all Nigerians that want progress to come together and use all we have to support him.

Four years ago I conducted a research together with a strong team across some selected states in Nigeria on effectiveness of interventions in education and health by federal, state and local governments as well as non state actors. What I found in Anambra surprised me. I can confirm to you that the direct intervention to schools (cutting off the channels), that he mentioned made the state to be ahead of every other state in impact. Politicians in the Southeast in particular have been doing a very bad Job in this regard.
Till now, the vision of Peter Obi has never be sold to me, and I believe to many others like me outside the Southeast, I am yet to be totally convinced.
The only two politicians that came from the Southeast that I will joyfully vote for before I even remember that they are not from my tribe are
1 Late Dr Nnamdi Azikwe, and Professor Charles Soludo, probably and expectedly there are even better quality in the Southeast, but like I said politician should develop strategies to market themselves to people outside their community if they aspire to be president of Nigeria & not just relay on "It's the turn of our Zone", We need real marketable Vision that will break the barrier of tribal affiliation.
