My computers are dying and are getting old and dodgy. That is the reason I have been in hiatus. I am trying to suck out every drop of RAM I can rendering and editing some films before they go. That said, the render settings have also dropped and it can unfortunately now be noticed - and even the mods, craft, scene and ship complexity also has greatly suffered unless I film in KSP with no mods. Until I can afford a new PC I will probably not be very active.
I don't feel comfortable making movies with low render settings, and my ideas are becoming to demanding on a rig that can't handle even BF3.
HOWEVER, when I can afford a new PC I will probably create a monster. Until then and after I get a new rig, you should totally check out HatBat's cinematics to fulfill your KSP cinematic lust

Kerbol's low mass has staged it into a white dwarf, making life on Kerbin impossible. Jeb, Bill and Klare are the only 3 Kerbals left, as they were scouting the Joolian system at the time of the staging. It is starting to get very cold, and they must act fast if they want to stay warm.

Jool must have been just barely small enough to not have any fusion reactions, so when the nuclear bomb went off, it provided a boost of energy large enough for nuclear fusion to begin, turning Jool into a newborn star.

Thanks Isaiah Phillips , I hope one day to have a budget for these things. With a few thousand dollars I'd love to re-create this story, but replace Jool with Saturn and Laythe with TItan. I hope to one day go from Kerbal space movies, to human space movies

@@biffy2310 Cassini-Huygens was an unmanned probe, active for 20 years before it committed self-destruct into Saturn’s atmosphere before running out of fuel. It relayed atmospheric data back to Earth as it burnt up.

Jeb showed up at the KSC an hour or so after Jool was set ablaze.
The base plot is amazing and rivals most blockbusters. If this was extended and made into a full movie I would pay for it :) Nassult you rock!

Burning Jool is much smaller and will burn in lower temperatures than sun.
So it's not as irrational. It would be much more stable.
You forget that Kerbals are fireproof, along with being radiation-proof, anaerobic, photosynthetic, and impact-resistant.
Never mind that Jool's relatively small size (and possibly-not-entirely-hydrogen composition) could never sustain a fusion reaction like an actual star would.

I loved this! It was amazing like all your work!
I also love how two KSP channels I love go in complete opposite directions. Here, I see emotional short movies about heroism and discovery, and on the other I laugh at kerbals as they fall into horribly deadly situations at the hands of their sadistic Kraken-worshiping master...
Danny is funny, yet horrifying. I like the Nassault type guy better, but Danny never fails to make me laugh.
To everybody saying this wouldn't work:
1. Jool is much smaller than Kerbal (the star) and therefore the habitable zone is much closer.
2. Yes fusion is possible on jool. Have you ever burned hydrogen and oxygen? Well that's not fusion but with as large as Jool it can fuse atoms into more complex elements I.e hydrogen to helium
it dosnt work becauce the gas in jool is not enough to sostain the heat and other elements stars have
RubyLazer but kerbals can scoop up Hydrogen, especially deuterium and tritium for their fusion reactors
In order to sustain a fusion reaction two things are needed, Pressure and fuel, The pressure produces heat and drives the reaction, a star is a star for the reason that the explosive force from several million H bombs balances it's own gravity trying to make it collapse in on itself, Gas giants like Jool and Proto stars lack enough mass and thus pressure and thus heat to sustain a nuclear fusion reaction. BUUUUT for an Animation such as this, I'll let it slide.
I think if you had some sort of ultra-dense matter that the nuclear engine produced (although that bit is still pure fantasy), the pressure around could in theory be high enough around the surface for the hydrogen in jool's atmosphere to fuse.
Jupiter is far from having enough mass from becoming a star if a nuclear explosion like this one were to happen in it... but this is KSP... I consider it part fantasy so this was nevertheless a beautiful video

From the perspective of me a Ksp player and a ksp lover it is a beautiful piece of work and art.And even more that this movie was made 5 years back!!.
It was something to watch, even back then.
I remember sending in my first kerbal into Jool. Unlike many people though, I never sent Jebediah into the storm. I sent his father, Obediah Kerman. He was one of those rare pilots who Really were badass! Also how do you make these movies? Keep up the good work!

Btw, due to kerbol's low mass, the star should have been red before it became a white dwarf. Due to this, the planets have become smaller than a star like our own. This means that Jool should be a rocky world, instead of gas. Because of this, this movie should be impossible, but hey, video game logic.
Fun fact: due to jool's green hue, it should indicate necessary components for life like carbon, hydrogen, phosphorus, etc.

Well, he said low mass, not low density. The stars colour or classification is usually based on temperature in Kelvin, which you can read more into the subject to know more, cuz I only did a school report about astronomy.

- I'm getting a bit bored of suicidal Jeb saving everyone, because it's starting to be predictible
- the moment you show the nuke of the spaceplane the first time made me think that they already had a nuclear engine, so I get confused when he went to Laythe to pick up the 'real one'
But your photgraphy an your framing is getting more awesome each time, and this partnership with Rareden is great !

It has been difficult to commit to a bold new project with the lack of a nice computer. Hopefully when or if I get a new computer, I will certainly be spending more time in pre-production.
