  • Diving into brake upgrade when many of us early GR Yaris owners are now coming to the point where brake discs will need changing.
    From stock thru Clubsport up to Race spec braking systems, we will talk about what is important to know and what to look out for when selecting discs, pads, cooling, big brake kits (BBK) and hydraulic handbrakes.

    I used HEL steel braided brake lines and steel braided clutch lines and MX72+ on GR Yaris. HEL made me feel more secure and confident. I also picked a unique Transparent Purple which is very beautiful. HEL has a variety of color options and reasonable prices, and is highly recommended. But my friends all choose Japanese brands but the prices are much more expensive, but I still recommend HEL.

      Thankyou for that: yes, top product! And you also selected your brake oads very wisely, well done!

    I use Audi RS3 brake ducts on front arms, fit perfectly. Still have OEM brake dust shields, but I perforated them for vented air to go through. Think they are under 40€ per pair. Also have Hrnshn Racing ducts (similar to Scara73) which will also go on the car soon.

      What you have done is a GReat option, and what I really suggest! Import Racing has made some even bigger ducts in similar style, but the 3D printed ducts don’t work to a degree that is even measurable, have multiple concrete reports. Thankyou for sharing Markos!

      I have had good success with ceramic shims made by P-DEF bought them from string theory
      You can cut away shield to open up area near caliper mounting let some air in without taking away lots of heat shielding
      Caliper dust seals go brittle - any solutions apart from removal whab doing lots of tracking

      @markstrizek2782 thankyou for sharing, yes! Upcoming BCB Brake piston and dust seal review within mid April!

    I was under the impression that Pagid and Endless are the most technological advanced brake pads.

    • @AJClubsport
      @AJClubsport  Před 3 měsíci

      Endless is, but this isn’t about one brand over the other: this is new VS old generation compounds and what level of friction coefficient to choose mate

    Hi AJ, Thanks once again for uploading a spot on video. I was exactly looking at brakes a few weeks back, blocked on the Ferodo DS2500 because I know them for using them on my track car. But for the discs I was just wondering, OEM, EBC, or go "down under" to the famous Ozzy brake discs DBA which I already very much appreciated some years back on my ex-Impreza because of the extra cooling they provide. And there you come with the answer SCARA73 ! Thankyou !

    - Stock disk wear limit is 25mm, so you are only about halfway their service life. This is the positive of having heavy oem disk with narrow cooling channel...
    - For hydraulic handbrake, you need to duplicate or reposition the sensor that senses the position of the handbrake lever, otherwise the car will not disengage the rear axle when doing handbrake turns etc.

    • @AJClubsport
      @AJClubsport  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yes, I agree with both statements, completely mate. I must have been mistaken in the video, currently am at 24.6, and can feel it a lot as they started to vibrate in high speed braking and cope less heat, although the pads are still good

    Great information again! My car has done 23000 km. Will I notice the braided brakes lines?

    • @AJClubsport
      @AJClubsport  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thankyou Michael: yes, you will notice a firmer pedal. Consider that the stock pads have a high grade of compressibility, therefore till they will be changed too, the pedal will not always be rock solid, even with the best brake oil

    Great info again Adriano, I've already purchased the HEL brake kit, din't think about the clutch and CF shims, not sure did you mention brake fluid pref ?
    The ducts look interesting for the arms.
    I'll just be going pads for time being I used the, Ferodos on the Pug 205 sprint car front only OE rear, as you say old gen design.
    Would you suggest changing front & rear for fast road ?
    Regards Russ..

    • @AJClubsport
      @AJClubsport  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Hello Russ, brake fluid is Castrol SRF or Motul 660/700.
      Always change the pad compounds all round, as the GR can really do with some more brakes at the rear!

    Ciao Adriano, ottimo video come sempre! Dei dischi EBC cosa ne pensi? Inoltre io ho messo i brake shims in fibra di carbonio della HEL performance, li hai mai provati?

    • @AJClubsport
      @AJClubsport  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Sono i migliori quello della HEL! Me li hanno offerti ma, avevo gia’ quelli in titanio… I dischi di EBC funzionano per quanto ho sentito, però quelli di Scara sono più leggeri!

    • @vittorio_nichetti
      @vittorio_nichetti Před 3 měsíci +1

      Eh sul peso quelli di Scara sono i migliori, però avevo paura che una massa radiante ridotta sarebbe stata più soggetta al surriscaldamento in applicazioni a medie velocità su strade tutte curve rispetto all’uso in pista dove prendono molta più aria quindi ho scelto gli EBC. Però ero indeciso, poi onestamente ho presupposto che quelli di Scara costassero molto di più visto il peso ridotto magari però mi sbaglio

    • @AJClubsport
      @AJClubsport  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Non è proprio così tecnicamente: le campane sono più leggere ed i canali di raffreddamento maggiori, quindi raffredda di più e compensa per la minore massa

      Infact! Will install them next Saturday with the Wiborg arms and all, then I will have a better idea thru testing, but many are already using these here with no known complaints
