See, I don't think an extortion would have taken "heat" off of Kevin for cheating on his wife, because both actions are wrong (marital infidelity and extortion). And, a cheating scandal wouldn't necessarily harm Kevin, not if Hollywood history has any say about it.

We know that cheating in and out of Hollywood is common, but the layer of it that had people looking down on Kevin is that his wife was far along in her pregnancy at the time and I guess it was also her birthday weekend. We already know Kevin to be a cheater because he did so with his first wife so yeah that part wasn’t surprising. They spun the story around to try to make Kevin look like a victim and his alleged betrayal of the scandal became the focus. Even some of his close friends (Plastic Cup Boyz) were understandably silent about the cheating, but had slight comments to say about JT.
