    It's truely sad to think about "all them that have died in the name of Christ." I heard this song for the first time in 1980. and that part of the lyric's has stated with me all these years I'm now 54 yrs old. And still "too many have died in the name of Christ" so sad......

    I think one of the saddest moments I experienced in my youth was when I heard Neil Young had left CSNY. That sound was gone, or at least changed. And then I heard this song.
    The sound had only evolved, it was not broken. Perhaps CSNY was a case of too many cooks in the kitchen. But we know Neil went off and did some of his best work as a solo, leaving us with Crosby, Stills and Nash to fill my heart with such wonderful music. Not a bad deal for anyone.

    I didn't hear this song while I was at there, but after I got home I heard this song & it put so many things in perspective for me.The losses ,my survival, & the resolve to never forget those that "Gave ALL" & those that suffered long after or didn't get accounted for at all.God Bless all who served, their families,& especially The POW/MIA not accounted for & their families.To my brothers & sisters that made it home remember it is our memories that keep all of them alive that is why we made it home when most of us never thought we would survive that Hell!

    I totally understand Graham Nash's reason for writing this song.I Love God! But it's man's interpretation of Him that bothers me.Religion starts wars,gives us too many rules that Christ Himself said in The Bible,are Impossible to follow...That's just Why He came to Save The Whole World.Just because you don't agree with The Followers Of Jesus,Doesn't make it right to Kill anyone,"In The Name Of Christ" as Graham so beautifully puts it.PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL OF YOU!

    This was, according to the uploader, from the "No Nukes" concert. The credited performer is Graham Nash (according to Wikipedia). Obviously he wasn't playing all of the instruments, and singing all of the vocals in this live performance. Included in the concert were James Taylor, Carly Simon, Crosby, Stills, Springsteen & the E Street, Bonnie Raitt, Jesse Colin Young, & the Doobie Bros. etc. I would imagine that some of them were playing, and some of them were providing the backing vocals.

      You are spot on w/ your observation...,read an interview w/ Graham Nash talking about the inspiration for this song.He had taken some LSD & visited Winchester Cathedral...,of of the truths that soooo many people faced in the turbulent 60's&70's is that after all is said and done drugs can only lead to disillusionment/death...,a garish distortion of reality that appeared to be a higher knowledge of the world...,wisdom can only proceed from the realization of God!

    You're sort of right. Neil asked them to do that one song for that one particular album. I don't believe it was anything left over from the 74 studio takes. Some of which are included on CSN's box set.The original songs selected for Human Highway I believe were : See the Changes, Johnny's Garden, To the Last whale, Immigration man, Carry me, Homeward through the haze, Human Highway, & Pardon my heart. All were released on later albums.... too bad...maybe one day...?

    And saddest of all is that despite all the advances we've made, and all the potential for good with them, that what seems to stand out, is that we've also learned how to more effectively destroy. Maybe destruction is hardwired into us - either others or our own ........ Still we need to strive for more, for something higher........

    In fact, he never left them. It's all about a freedom to do what they want at the moment. They wanted that way. That's why we had many recordings of CSNY, CSN, CN, SY, Manassas, CPR, etc. CSNY made Deja Vu and 4-Way-Street in 1970 and then American Dream in 1988 and Looking Forward in 1999. Did Neil really left CSN?

    Actually the S-Y album L-M-Y-R was supposed to be a CSNY project but S&Y ERASED the C&N vocals from the master tapes and went on without them. N swore he would never work with S&Y again... it wasn't until a C&N show at the Greek in 76, that S showed up and asked to comeback. {His career was floundering} They took him back and CSN AKA "the boat album" was released the next year...

  • @1perfectstrangerr
    @1perfectstrangerr Před 11 lety

    "CSN" has some songs from 74 but Neil wasn't ever to be a part of that album.The great CSNY record that never happened was "Human Highway" That would have been a classic.They are supposed to be releasing a box set from that 74 tour this summer. I told Nash that they should reunite & do that album & include it as a bonus in that box set. But Neil would find a way to stop it. He is so against anything that may even hint towards nostalgia. He'll most likely put some of it on HIS next box set...

    I think he did...He said after the 74 tour, his CSNY days were effectively over. He was gone for 14 years and it had been 18 since Deja Vu. He NEVER wanted to be known as Neil Young of CSNY. He used CSN as a springboard for his own career. When he hit the top, he left and became solo. His song THRASHER off R.N.S tells of his CSN days. Neil is a selfish guy. He does HE wants and little else. When CSN didn't suit him, he walked. Get CSNY the visual documentary by Johny Rogan GREAT BOOK...
