    Hey Bob, as a long time fan and longer time infect pilot, I’d encourage you to check out the green-black version! The main upside is phyrexian crusader, which can come down on turn 2 with a hierarch and has protection from 90% of the popular removal in the format. We also get hand attack, and plague stinger to replace blighted agent.

    Infect seems so much better on paper than it is in practice

    • @CptManboobs
      @CptManboobs Před 8 měsíci

      As someone who actually plays Infect in paper, it actually is, it helps to have a not trash maindeck though. Why the fuck is Preordain in this list? Distortion Strike is unplayable junk and literally doesn't matter, Rancor is better every single time.

      @@CptManboobs If that's how you feel about distortion strike you have no credibility. It's even better now with rotpriest

      @@CptManboobs This maindeck is kinda trash. However distortion strike has been my go to instead of rancor for quite some time. Been playing it for 7 years, and rancor is not better if not worse than Dstrike most of the time.

      @@ConstpatedKire In reality, as a modern infect player I don't agree, the main body of the infect simic deck is 4 hierarch, 4 agents, 4 elves, 4 priests, 4 old krosa, 4 mutagenic, 1 become immense, 4nexus, 4 vinewoods, Generally I play 4 scale up and he plays three and then I, like him, play 2 distorting strike others like it more 4 rancor, another difference is that for example I play 3 blessings of the apostle and 1 blossoming defense and I don't play preordein (others instead play royal treatment) and 2 spellpierce, I think That's missing 1 boseiju and 1 pendelheaven And that the dryad can be replaced with something better (I play 1 yavimaya for example)

    I agree with your Boseiju comment early in the vid. The deck just outright folding to Chalice is a massive weakness, and Boseiju would help a lot with that. Could also be an interesting idea to try out Hex Parasite in the sideboard, as it works as a preemptive measure if you know they have Chalice, a way to make Murktide more manageable, and removal for things like Urza's Saga and (non-Karn, the Great Creator) planeswalkers.

    Engagement comment. Good video, I've always enjoyed playing against infect, feels like it is the combo killer though and combo is in a rough spot with scam at the top of the meta

    match 1 game 3 3 if you played the Rotpriest, you could have had a body on board to keep targetting your cards with to slowly tick up infect... it might not have mattered that much bc of your hand but it was def better than just inkmoth land pass

      For god's sake no! Mechanics that can't be interacted with are a cancer to begin with in every format...there is no way (to my knowledge) to efficiently reduce poison and energy counters in Pioneer so It would be a very difficult deck to interact with. Yeah I know one way or another almost every deck plays mana efficient removal, but toxic is a good enough mechanic for Pioneer and it doesn't kill you turn 2-3 which would be too fast in my opinion and WOTC have already printed a lot of proliferate effects as a fast way to accumulate poison while doing something else.

    • @Darth_Man_X

      @alessandrogiberti2733 toxic is trash in this meta of r/b and control it's very hard to win through attacking

    Infect, unfortunately, is not a modern deck anymore. I do still love it. But it is really frustrating to play with all the wrenns, bowmasters, chalices, rings and free elementals
    You could have won round 1 game two if you just went for it with agent I think

      Modern is an incredibly fun and diverse format to host at FNM... Provided you all have a gentleman's agreement to not play Scam or 5c Moneypile, if you do that it feels playable and reminiscent of modern post-Hogaak ban

    I love how the intro stresses that the deck is mostly playing 1 drops then we get immediately punished for doing so Lol. Also who registers a deck with green mana and doesn't play at least 1 bosejiu? Terrible.
