Great vid. My son has become obsessed with the game. Fun thing is i love it because it's introducing him to the FF music/characters that I love and grew up with. Now he wants me to get the pixel remasters and to have him and I play them together but he wants us to stream them. Not sure about the steaming part but I'm excited to play through the classics with him. Games like Theatrhythm are great for highlighting one of FF's best features.

This is so wholesome to read man, mind me asking for an update on this hahaha I wish my parents were into gaming, it would have been so cool to get introduced to it by them.

@@dajoma We've gotten through FF1 and 2, he wants us to replay them so we can stream it because he thinks it'd be fun. So far he loved FF1 because it was (his words) "simple and charming". He liked FF2 but thought the key word system was weird. Oddly so far Maria is his favorite character. He's seen me playing a bit of other FF games and he's really interested in Kain, Celes and Cyan so he wants us to get through FF3 so he can see what they are like.
As a dad it's been one of my favorite things. I took my boys to a local gaming convention and now my 8 year old is obsessed with the old NES Kid Icarus game. I have 4 kids been playing FF with my oldest at 10 years old. It's a blast seeing them getting to love the classics.

@@justinc882 That's so nice to hear! Your kid seems really interested on streaming stuff tho hahaha. Maybe you can convince him to record both of you playing instead, so it's easier to control what's happening, and even have some cool memories for the future! It makes me happy too that new generations can appreciate "old" gems like early FFs and even Kid Icarus!
I normally don't get this attached to internet things but reading this made me genuinely happy, hope your kids discover more and more gems with you, videogames are truly beautiful.

The jump from Ultimate to Supreme is insane, I can consistently get Perfect Chain and All Critical on most Ultimate tracks, SSS on almost everything on Ultimate, but Supreme tracks are a different beast, some button combinations are way too crazy. It feels like I have to memorize many segments to pull it off, just watching the screen does not give me enough time to react and slower note speeds make it impossible to see the notes because they hug each other way too much 😅

Been a theatrhythm enthusiast since the first game, Ive gotten good at the game from the many hours I played, honestly play the game and just challenge yourself at your own rate, even the easiest music have their own challenges that will get you practicing moves you will see in harder difficulties. eventually easiest challenge may feel too easy for you so switching difficulties will help make the game more enjoyable to you. All in all, practice is the best way, but practice in your own way that makes things enjoyable to you. eventually you may surprise yourself on how good you get over time. (honestly I'm not used to playing it not on a 3ds, so its like I'm learning everything all over again.)

This was a really helpful and entertaining video.
As a longtime player of rhythm games, I can say that you’ve really nailed it in a lot of places, especially with practice.
Practice a song you enjoy, get more comfortable with it, expand from there into other songs. If you are struggling too much with a particular song, go play a different one for a bit and come back to it.
Learning to alternate fingers/hands for repeated notes is
also a huge one for improvement.
And most importantly, as you said, have fun. Because this is a game and that’s what games are for, after all.

Sick Vid, algorithm seems happy with the content. Keep it up.
    Top 2 Pro tips:
    1. Change trigger speed to 2.0 and you can visualize the feel of the music, rather than just having to listen for it amongst the jumbled mess of notes clogging the screen. The game lies that higher trigger speed increases difficulty even though the bpm never changes. Accurate timing of notes is much easier on 2.0 speed, especially when sightreading unfamiliar songs.
    2. Use the D-pad to alternate notes between left and right thumbs like strumming a guitar string up and down, (As you do with 'X' and 'R' in the vid). Once two notes feels natural, incorporate triplets that force alternation of starting/finishing thumb. From there, throw in holds and directional buttons. Ideally your button presses will be equally distributed between right and left rather than favoring the right hand.

I prefer 1.5 trigger speed myself but upping the speed from 1.0 definitely helps a lot

The dpad tip is great for other rhythm games like Project Diva, but for Theatrhythm where you need easy access to the sticks at all times, the shoulder buttons or triggers might work better. I'm not sure.

I don't mind the harder button patterns, but it's annoying when it's insane button mashing

Also, sometimes it feels like some songs aren’t on the right difficulty. There’s some lv 5 songs that are harder than most lv 6, for example

I can get full chain or very close on expert every song, but as soon as I shift the difficulty up I get WRECKED. The new patterns with the arrows always mess me up! Nothing for it but more practice though I suppose.

I still struggle with certain types of patterns on the 3rd difficulty. Yet the 2nd difficulty is a bit too easy for me. I do feel like my TV latency is off, but I wasn't really sure how to adjust it correctly.

Pretty much everyone sight reads rhythm games. To memorize a song in this game would literally be you closing your eyes and being able to play it. It is all about pattern recognition even after you've perfect chained the same song twenty times. We are all sight reading.

I am currently working my way through the supreme scores and the difficulty jump is insane. I manage, but I have a question...
How do you hit all those clustered together notes? I seem to be not able to keep up. I always, always, manage to hit like the first 10 or so and then the 20 after them are all bad or missed because my thumb or pointer finger just can't keep up. Am I just too slow for them?
I already gave up to EVER perfect chain a supreme score, but I would like to have some S or SS ranks on them.
