- Derrick has been absolutely addicted to Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line lately. To the point that he's completed every quest in the game which can be quite challenging! But he has some tips and character recommendations so that you too can complete them all with little issue!

This game is nearly flawless, my biggest complaint is that they cut down dancing mad to be even shorter than the 3DS version was.
I haven't even cleared all the songs yet, I'm making my way through the last title and basically loving every minute playing this game.
They also cut back One-Winged Angel to Theatrhythm 1 length ):

My gripe is that there are like eight different versions of Battle on the Big Bridge, and none of them are the XIII-2 version.
Cut short 1000 Words and Hellfire too 😪
They did that with a lot of songs that have more than a 3-minute loop. Seems all the songs are only 3 minutes long...and it sucks when the song ends...in the MIDDLE of it, like they're just giving you a sample. What stinks, too.....is with songs that require you to kill a boss, they cut down on the triggers so you can't kill the 3 enemies before it in time. The just LOVE using those damn long "Holding" triggers, don't they?
I noticed a lot of bosses tended to use status moves as soon as they appeared, so I had my lead character (I used Sephiroth) equipped with Silence Buster as his first ability to stop the bosses from inflicting Silence or Stone on my party before they could get their boss slaying moves off.
Funny that Terra is still dominating with dualcasting Ultima 😂
As for my suggestions for a physical and magic party.
Magic:
1. Terra (dualcast, ruin and Riot Blade)
2. Exdeath (dualcast, meteor and blizzaga) although switch out meteor if you make a few mistakes
3. Vivi (dual black magic, thundaga, firage)
4. Aphmau (realignment, faith, blizzara)
Basically you boost everyone’s casting spead and they can double cast.
Physical:
1. Garland (deranged soul, firage blade + bravery)
2. Faris (dual wield, firaga blade + first strike)
3. Gilgamesh (morphing time!, blizzaga blade + meteor blade) although meteor blade can be switched out for fira blade if you miss from time to time
4. Open spot, usually Aranea (silence buster, highwind, ultima blade). (she can use silence buster which makes it so you can beat any boss that has abilities like petrify. IMPORTANT, if you use her for silence buster, make sure she is infront of the party of at least 2nd so her ability actually gets activated before the boss uses their ability). Other options are Bartz, Noctis or Zidane (Zidane is great for finding more treasure chests).
For Exdeath specifically, since his ability power of the void isn’t classified as magic (no magic label) I think that one doesn’t get the benefit from dualcast. It’s still a good ability nonetheless especially since it’ll make the rest of the dps higher.

Great video, I used many of the characters you suggested while getting all the feats. My current main team, which is what I use for multiplayer with bursts, is also comprised of Terra, Yuna, and Noctis, though the 4th one is someone that can heal (Alphinaud in my case).
As for an additional recommendation, I think someone who can inflict poison to a boss (such as Cloud) can be very useful against bosses with a ton of health. Also, a team with first stike users, such as Noctis and both Tifas, can be very useful when trying to kill many enemies or when having to activate many abilities.
Loved it, man! Haven't really made any builds just put characters I liked and swapped when they reached 99 to gradually level everyone.

Great video! Thanx for the heads up on who to focus on leveling up! There are so many great characters to use, I was finding it tough to choose.
If you need Fire Magic, Ace [Type-0] is your guy! Cut Cards allows him to use magic abilities twice as fast, and Enfire gives your party's Sizz more Oomph!
I used Terra at first, but then when Noctis and crew got into the higher star levels they just became better at everything because with Terra you absolutely overkill the bosses, and then are left with nothing because those abilities are 1 time only.
With that being said, the team that demolished everything (except the "hit enemy weakness" quests) was:
Noctis: First Strike, Mug (Mystic Aura when doing the Endless Mode), Armiger
Faris: First Strike, Provoke, Dual Wield
Garland: Bravery (Silence Buster if I needed to cause a status), Mystic Aura, Deranged Soul
Materia: Bravery (Regen sometimes when there are a lot of enemies that cause Poison), Mystic Aura, Precious Rebellion
Summonstone: Something with Trigger Damage % to more easily finish off those who don't die to First Strike.
With enough Strength this team also one shots bosses, and with all the First Strikes you get it's easy to finish the "use abilities X times" quests. Also since Noctis can use his limit break infinite times you kill a bunch of bosses for more drops.
Don't waste stat up items. A level 99 character should only be brought up to 550 of a stat because they will later get 450 more out of the star levels.
If the Trigger% damage is not requires you can also use a summonstone with Extra exp. These stack multiplicatively with the exp items. With an 80% exp stone I would use a silver egg on Battle stages for about 7k exp, and a gold egg instead on Field stages for 9999 exp (maximum possible). This made leveling up super fast for this team because they are not sitting ducks when their abilities are not up like it is with the Terra teams.

I'm currently at 40% quest completion.
Faris is my most used character (with Bartz and Galuf up there because they're the ones I started with), Vivi is my go to magic character and Prompto and Zidane for FMS and farming. I'm leveling up some summoner characters as I haven't used them much before.
I'll have to level up my villains too!

Thanks for the good info. I think I will follow your advice and work on unlocking stuff first. I'm not great at the game, but the music scratches a nostalgia itch. I also play team with my son sometimes and it's brutal at high difficulties. 😅
Been working my way through getting all characters to level 99 before choosing favorites. Took a break for now while I wait for more DLC to drop. Good game.

I love music games. There have been few good substitutes since guitar hero. Taiko and Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line! they belong to those who sucked me in. Since I'm a fan of the Final Fantasy series and there is an option to listen to the unlocked music, the game is really worth buying, even at a regular price. The only thing missing in this game is what Taiko had: events. Unfortunately, something could also be done with the servers, because they are empty. But I don't regret the purchase.

The issue isn't killing the bosses....it's GETING TO THEM. the quests that require you to kill a boss....have at least 3 groups of enemies before them, with some even being boss-class enemies. What gets me is: A: Somtimes, the song isn't even long enough. B: VERY few triggers at times so you can even use the abilities to kill the enemies to get to the boss. Some of these songs have LONG hold triggers....killing any chance to activate abilities. What's worse...some of these have the "Allies deal 1/2 physical damage" modifier.
It isn't killing the boss....it's getting to him with enough time for all your boss-killing abilities to activate and kill the boss....especially when you have to kill 3 "Boss" enemies before it...which all have tons of HP to begin with.
I'm definitely going after every Feat since it's impossible to in Curtain Call anymore.

With this setup you can see your Shantoto deals 99999+ damage to boss 😂
Physical:
1. Noctis (Armriger, Bravery, Provoke)

3. Ramza (Mimic, Bravery, Provoke)
4. Materia (Stona, Bravery, Precious Rebellion)
The physical counterpart of my magic setup, you will see Noctis tears bosses like madman 😂
..i just got back into rhythm games & im absolutely hooked
..i just had epiphany that my obsession w/ Tetris & Rhythm
..is spectrum stimming..a rush of calm & reward comes over me
..i dont have the patience for the RPG elements & micromanaging but..
..my plan is to use my musical abilities to power thru & auto upgrade the dolls
..id love some HD rumble since we're stuck using controllers but i realized why not
..Square Enix is emulating the arcade cabinets..which dont have rumble..so they dont care
..so ive like to use a fightstick..but can't hit the thumbstick cues..sooo i'll try my best to get thru
some help for final fantasy X mission: use 4 or more summons, use all summoners in my party; garnet, yuna, rydia and eiko and they barely reach the third invocation, please help 😞

Funny i used her and found her very helpful the only really annoying quest i realy struggle with is use x abilities in one song i think if i had a mimic team that may help

I only have experience with the 3DS games so seeing magic focused character be viable at all is a nice surprise. They were severely underpowered in the original, and in Curtain Call they only get good after multiple level 99 refreshes for a higher CP cap. 50 was just not enough to have both the best spells and the best magic boosting skills at the same time. It looks like CP is not even a mechanic in this game and good riddance. Also wow they finally let you make Team Presets after ten years.

Im very late in purchasing this title, big old school FF fan and i thought in a trIker for the game back a whilr ago I saw Pupu from ff8, is Pupu in the game as a special boss or something?
Any advice on how to deal with the Ultimate-related series quests? Some of those are brutal IMO
Load up with Healers plus Yuna. Make sure you have Phoenix as your summon and use every healing item. After that, it comes down to practice.
Put the game in simple mode. Then all the triggers are just simple presses.

good suggestion, I hear this from many ppl that these are the ones to use, good to have diff ones for diff quests tho cuz some are resistant to magic etc, I guess you just buff as much as possible and just weather the status effects? always seems to be a prob for me is not enough time cuz I'm stoned/toad/silenced what have you, but I'll try these and see if I have any luck, pissed that I cant just use my preferred teams of my fav chars, should be enough at 99 with maxed stats, but I get not every one is gonna have the right abilities, thats why I wish you could just have more ppl on a team so you can have one for each purpose, or at least have more ppl with the status busting skills
UPDATE: done all except ultimate difficulty ones cuz yeah, FUCK. THAT. SHIT. tried slowing the song down and no help, if anything makes it worse cuz its condensed, will have to live with not completing all, and why does there need to be like 7 of that big bridge song??
But not good the 80% Criticals ;) There are no chance to get it better. And not good for "All critical" Trophy :(

Ace (Type 0): Bluff, Cut Cards, Fire
Aphmau (FFXI): Realignment, Faith, Enthunder
Lightning #2 (FFXIII Series): Overclock, Thunder, Thundara
Spiritus (Dissidia): Tolerant Wisdom, Firaga, Blizzaga
This team will absolutely decimate those missions, if by any chance it doesn't, swap out firaga and blizzaga on spiritus for thunder/thundara :)
