Oh nice name Tintin (Belgian) and he is a Belgian malinois. Belgian shepherds are extremely high in energy. In Belgium they work on farms and in the police forces or military ... Need a lots of mental stimulation and exercise!!! Not for owner that are not very active... I know this, I grew up with these dogs. Greetz from Belgium.

This is exactly the reason why reputable breeders won’t sell Mals to random, inexperienced people. These are great dogs with the right owner. Do your research and don’t make your dog suffer because you don’t know what you’re doing.
Hmmm, interesting I suppose each Mal is different I adopted an apox 11 month old(I’m the third attempted owner) from the humane society a couple weeks ago and other than the excessive amounts of energy and the nipping he’s been a good dog. He’s very friendly(submissive), wants to say hi to every dog and person he encounters. He does pull hard on the leash when he sees other beings but so far it’s not aggressive. He’s not much of a barker unless it’s related to his severe separation anxiety.

I have a German Shepherd, and any dog breed that is known to be aggressive, needs to be trained 24/7 while a puppy. The first thing I taught my German Shepherd puppy was to not bite, by putting my hand firmly around her muzzle and saying,"Don't bite!". I didn't like the thought of getting sued by my neighbors, or my grandkids getting bit. At 10 1/2 yrs old, she's been the ideal family dog. BTW... I love the Belgian Malinois dogs, too.
Hey! Thanks for watching. German Shepherds and the Belgian Malinois are amazing dogs. It's worth noting that puppy biting is very different than aggressive biting. It's also important to note that holding a puppy or adult dog's muzzle shut can result in a dog becoming hand shy (moving away or becoming defensive with approaching hands). One hint. Protein levels in the diet relate to the energy levels in the Mally. Mine is now 9 years old and has been on a protein level of 6 to 8% daily. This does not stop her being an amazing 'door bell'.
Thanks for commenting. A well balanced diet is key to a dog's physical and behavioral well-being - but as you noted - good nutrition and good training still can't compete with genetics. My Mal Bonnie is showing the same tendencies as Tin Tin. She’s 5 months and has started to have aggressive reactions even though she’s in puppy school. I’m worried we’re not in the right training course for her. Do you have any advice for how to know if the training is right for her.

Why? Getting a 9 week old Belgian Malinois was probably a steal on Craig's List. I would have bought it, if I didn't already have a German Shepherd. I love athletic, quick, fast, and intelligent dogs... and the Malinois is that kind of a dog.
I bought my 4 year old Malinois, Paladin on Craigslist for $200. I'll bet he's a better dog than whatever you bought, from any licensed breeder...or whatever.

seent it donet it past it, Mal's aint house dogs, their your companion till they die. High drive to the maxium, the energy they have, if you don't expend it properly, it'll become big problem long term.

I do not care what anyone says the best and only training method for anyone with any breed of dog where they don't want them aggressive to cars,bikes,people is loads of socialising from the very first day, sit them in front of passing cars from day one and walk them in busy areas from day one they need to think its normal
Hey! Thanks for writing in. Some dogs are more prone to being nervous or reactive. Meeting 100 people, or 100 dogs in the first few weeks of months, and going to loud, busy environments can be counter-productive for a good percentage of puppies. While many people assume this would "desensitize" the dog to these triggers, sometimes the opposite is true, sometimes the dog becomes "sensitized." I have collected behavior histories on thousands of dogs and I can say that in some cases over-exposure is just as problematic as under-exposure and can be the reason that some dogs become aggressive. I would say it comes down to reading the dog (body language and behavior) and being receptive to their needs, rather than having a one size fits all recommendation. Best, Alyssa

The shape and age of this woman, she’s physically incapable of keeping up with this breed. And the yard in the city ? Yikes, Maligators need a lot of exercise and space.
This whole video sounded more like an advertisement for what to do if you buy a dog you didn’t do your research on and then end up crying cause it’s not what you imagined.
But I mean to be fair, the training at the end was top notch, got it down with the dog being willing to participate and without negative reinforcement.
Hey, Thanks for watching. A lot of people fall in love with physical traits, like a dog's look, but are not completely aware of the training that is required. This is true of working breeds, but really any dog could fall into this category. Fortunately, she was very willing to do the work once she understood what he needed. For me, that's what matters the most. Out of curiosity ... what yard in the city? I don't think that was a part of the video. This woman actually had a canyon right in her backyard.
