  • Does Humic Acid Really work for Lawns? | 2 Year Results After two years of using humic acid products what do you think the results are? Does humic acid work? Send humates and Full Vic acid really amend our soil profile? Do liquid humic acid and granular humic acid work the same? After two years of using Humacao acid I am really shocked to see my results in the soil.

    Purchased my house 2yrs ago. Clay soil. The backyard was a swamp after hard rains. Last yr along with having some drains installed, i started amending my soil with humic and sea kelp. In less than a full yr i can already see the difference. Alot is due to the drains, but i also see vast improvement in spots the drains do not effect. No more puddles, let alone puddles that would take a wk to absorb. I'm excited to see continuing improvement going forward.

      smart, If you get a low compost in there as well that'll help quite a bit. Acid overtime will actually build your organic material and your tilt to your soil and it will hold moisture way better be in a sand

    I used to use Best 9-9-9 Super Iron fert for my lawn and plants
 it’s good, but has no soil improving components at all and it’s all chemical. So, it’s only short-term nutrients, but long term salt buildup and compaction from the chemicals. Bad for soil.
    Switched to Gro Power Plus 5-3-1 (has a 70% humus base and 15% humic acids) just last week.
    It has weaker NPK
 but I think/hope the humus and humic-acids will be much better for the long term - conditioning and improving the soil.
    I hope to see good results. đŸ€ž

    • @TheGreenerLawn
      @TheGreenerLawn  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      Your spot on, I think you will be super happy and impressed with your switch, even though lower analysis! The amendments will improve your growing medium, which in turn will feed the Nutrients, bot need as much supplementation, as the soil is doing what it’s suppose to do.

    Finally purchased after discussing my lawn issues with you last fall. If you remember, got an area that seems hydrophobic. Could i add a surfactant to maximize absorption? I read that humic acid, itself, can be used as surfactant so not sure if I'm wasting time/money. Thanks!

    • @TheGreenerLawn
      @TheGreenerLawn  Pƙed rokem

      Play it simple, use baby shampoo to do the early work of breaking up the soil’s hydrophobic nature.
      czcams.com/video/JQAS5oGQaVg/video.html
      It will help the short term affects, while the humic acid gets in there and works for the long term amendments. Any soil enters the right circumstances can go hydrophobic, and that’s where baby shampoo can break it, but better soils, have a less tendency to go hydrophobic.
      You will like this purchase it will definitely help out your lawn.

    • @TheGreenerLawn

      Yumpin Yiminy nothing like lime will do for you. Lime will be your quickest hit, this will hell make the soil amend its self over time, so your soil stay healthier. This will help the grass thrive in the low PH conditions as it will help unlock minerals bound by the soil (in addition to the lime).

      +Mr. Green thumb it stresses the lawn. What it means, that if you like your lawn 2 inches, you can let it grow to 3 inches cut 1 inch off and that is 1/3 of the blade. That will keep that grass from dressing out or scalping. So never cutting more the 1/3 will keep your lawn from stressing out. Make sense?

      I get to dig quite regularly in other yards in my neighborhood, for sprinkler issues. All our houses were built 5 years ago, and no one comes close to my soil. When I dig in others yards the future, I have promised to take pictures, just haven’t been out to any lately... but soon, I assure you.
      Natural root cycling and soil amending is 2-5” in 5-10 years, this is a natural breakdown of organic material and amendment obtained by soil organisms. This is where I ask those who oppose, and in almost a year of this video being out, why no one has said any thing about a 3 year old lawn (put in June 2 2017 hydroseeded), having 8-14” of darker, richer soil.... when nature will take 5-10 years for 2-5”.... my channel is my diary of applications.

    • @TheGreenerLawn
      @TheGreenerLawn  Pƙed 4 lety

      It def root cycling plays a big part, worms play a part and the humic draws the worms in and makes the the grass healthier for root cycling... common knowledge root cycling for 5” of topsoil in our lawns usually takes 5-10 years.... this is 2 years post hydroseed on Utah clay. Something has expedited this process, as I have 8-14” depending on area and trench of amendments and I have documented processes (CZcams videos) of my applications. While I accept your root cycling, I don’t believe this is it. Other neighbors I have helped with sprinklers in my neighbor hood are seeing 1-4” of soil change and most of it is on their sod dirt.

Next season I'll be running those two plus the Humic12 (in 2 week alternative applications) to maximize the amount of Humic I'm putting down. One thing I am for sure of is that my bushes are doing better with the Air8 & RGS, my Indian Hawthorns had a fungal disease that I thought killed them, they are bouncing back extremely well with the new application.

    Humic, fulvic and Kelp in the correct ratios are magic. Howard Fertilizer has a product called 350 Turf that is as fine a product as you will find. One to two gallons per acre monthly. 3 to 6 ounces per thousand. Split is as you want.
    In addition to the aforementioned adds, it has Fe, Cu, Zn, mb, B Mn and Mg. Calcium doesn’t play well with others so add that in dilution for a full mix.
    I sold this to golf course superintendents for years as well as a myriad of other products. This is great.
    During my time there at Howard many superintendents were seeing, Cu especially, but also elevated Zn and Fe levels. So I developed a product that removed all of the Fe, Cu and Zn and maxed the Mn at 5% and Mg at 2%. The most that would fit in the jug. All the other adds stayed the same. Became one of the best selling products in the lineup. Called 39762. A customer helped with the formulation. He was a Mississippi State man. I told him he could name the product. But “To Hell With Ole Miss” didn’t pass. 39762 is the zip code for the department at Miss State where you send your money as I understand it. ;)
    If you aren’t adding the Kelp and Fulvic, please try them. And then some amino acids as complexing agents rather that standard chelates like EDTA or glucoheptenate. Magic. Soil/root/leaf health like you would not believe. Great to see you do an actual test of two seasons rather than two monthly apps and complaints of no results. Good work.

Reason I bring up the 5lbs per application of sulfur, you have to apply a lot of product to get a ph change. It’s not easily fluctuated.
