4/4 is the same thing as 8/8 in terms of overall time. It's pretty redundant to say 8/8 though since 8 eighth notes are the same length as 4 quarter notes. You're right about the chorus being in common time though - that was my mistake. The syncopation of the snare drum really threw me off.

Ummm check out Sleep Token, Tidelines isn't extreme but very much like this. Arcane Roots they do some really fuckin heavy mathcore rifts and screams and do simple sweet check them too.

I'm late, can someone explain this joke?
If you don't know, the guitarists of goodtiger were previously in a (very awesome) band called The Safety Fire. That was the safety fire's catchphrase, they would go around and meet celebrities who they would entice to roast their band, many simply saying "fuck the safety fire". That definitely isn't the origin of the saying, but people would chant it at their shows and they even had merch that said it. It's said out of love and respect for the band :)
