- Report:
On 11-03-2023 I was on shift and assigned to the Air Support Unit. I was working in the capacity of Tactical Flight Officer (TFO) and was aboard Air 2 for a patrol flight.
I was in contact with the Traffic Unit who was working along Montgomery Blvd NE. They observed a group of vehicles and within that group there was an Orange Dodge Challenger. I used the aircraft's camera system to gain view of that vehicle while it was in the parking lot at 5000 San Mateo Blvd NE.
I observed an officer in a marked vehicle enter the parking lot and engage his emergency lights. The Orange Challenger fled the parking lot and out onto San Mateo Blvd in a Northbound direction.
As the vehicle fled I kept view of it relaying its location to responding officers. I observed this vehicle travel at speeds over double the posted speed limits even traveling over 120 mph on Southbound Interstate 25. The vehicle weaved through traffic with was seemed like no regard to the safety of other motorists. The vehicle at one point avoiding officers who were attempting to deflate the tires with a spike belt. To do this, the driver traveled on the wrong side of the road traveling East in Westbound lanes of Avenida Cesar Chavez. The vehicle also drove to the arrivals lanes of the Albuquerque Sunport and could be seen interacting with a Red in color sedan. I kept view of the vehicle for approximately 30 minutes until it finally stopped in the Northwest part of the city at the intersection of 51st and Quail. The driver got out of the vehicle and hurried away from it walking about a half block distance. I relayed the location to the responding officers who arrived a short time later taking that driver into custody.
My observations were recorded and a copy of that recording was tagged into APD Evidence.
He's lucky he wasn't in Arkansas. That Charger would have been punted over a guardrail about five minutes into the chase.
Ya there killers
Georgia is almost as reckless.
@@ganlet20 efficient*
@@swartzcontracting1336 They apparently have better schools too... ("there vs they're) 🤣🤣🤣
@@ganlet20 Yes, we are.....we make examples out of complete idiots.
New Mexico is a joke. Prosecution dropped all charges in exchange for pleading guilty to _Reckless Driving_ ?!? Not even a felony fleeing charge…
And he *still* absconded!!
Yup!
The court system has become a laughing stock. I think judges and DA's are too scared to prosecute criminals the way they SHOULD be, out of fear of being called "racist" if they're white and the suspect is a POC.
@@ChuckThree seriously, they had to get the helicopter involved and this guy got a felony fleeing charge dropped! How lenient can you get?
Yes, it should be a mandatory felony on their record, which almost certainly makes possessing a firearm illegal for them.
New Mexico has the lowest average IQ of any state.
Dang. I guess people will know where to go to commit serious crimes. What a joke of justice system.
Oh! Apparently they have the wrong person. He "promise". What a clown.
So they let the clown off. What a joke the justice system is..
Sounds like he'll become a repeat guest on the channel thanks to clueless judges.
I am shocked that this upstanding citizen failed to meet the terms of his conviction. Obviously the judge and the prosecutor in this case have the combined IQ of a turnip. He will be in the news again for something a whole lot worse.
FJB!!!!!
Seems every judge and DA are activists these days
Hey now, lets not insult the turnip.
WOW! This video checked EVERY stereotype box 😂😂😂
And this is why APD has a hard time because people just keep getting let go . He should been put in jail and lose his license and been on house arrest
Yup agree
While I don’t think he can both be put in jail and house arrest, I agree that he needed harsher punishment
It can't be both unless he calls jail his home....🤣
Fr here in AZ a friend of mine got a week in jail for his first dui offenses, he caused an accident but at this moment he's currently on house arrest until his next court day. This happen in November last year and currently still dealing with it.
I was actually agreeing with you until you said “house arrest”. 🤣🤣
Asp woulda rolled him doing 100
And sometimes 100++....love then ASP AND GSP guys.
@@alwaysachevysilveradogirl7475 especially tooper Byrd
Rightfully so
Pointlessly long video. You can skip to the 27 minute mark for the start of the body cam.
That helicopter officer is very smart and competent. Has great situational awareness and knowledge of the roadways and just general smarts. Good work. The prosecutor on the other hand sucks.
Well, he can't outrun that huge bald spot he has 😂
🤣🤣 for real
🤦🏼♀️ Not surprised he didn’t follow court orders. Disappointed that he didn’t spent time in jail.
If you ever met a WWII vet, they never let their cars go below half a tank. We went from that to this in 2 generations
That's not a WWII thing. That's not wanting to suck sediment into fuel pump from tank.
@@grizzlycountry1030 The fuel pickup is in the bottom of the tank so guess where the fuel is coming from, not the top.
He probably had a half tank or more when he started driving. He was driving very hard for 30+ minutes after thr chsse began and who knows how long before the chase.
My dad was a WW2 vet and I'm an A.F. vet. I don't let my car get below 3/4 of a tank.
Stupid is as stupid does.
NM is like CA. Long chase. The guy actually had time to stop for gas with no one near or chasing him.
That and stopping to eat a few times as well....lol
@@alwaysachevysilveradogirl7475 😂😂Exactly. Most of the time in CA they watch the suspect car jack another car and then continue the pursuit. I was kind of expecting that when he got out and started walking down the street. 😂
Usual suspect on his way to a possible short life. Left ABQ in 04 and never looked back
It's amazing how much heat leaks/pours out of those muscle cars... they show up like a beacon on IR. SO much of what goes into the tank is converted to waste heat.
It's because he was driving hard, the brakes are hot and the engine is also hotter than it would normally be.
That was really cool! It also looked like we could see other people vaping in other cars?
I was thinking what if it was a Tesla
@@davidlopez1169 It would still glow like the sun, batteries and motors get hot under heavy current load. They overheat under track driving pretty reliably.
They're using a helicopter crew to track this guy for half an hour, for a speeding ticket? Hope you charged him $10,000 to cover the cost to the state
The New Mexico DOJ should have given him an award with apologies for his arrest!!! What a joke!
That hemi is thirsty
Spitting more out the tailpipe than it’s burning.
That srt is glowing lol can’t out run the choppa or the thermal camera haha literally glowing 😅
Not surprised that he runs out of gas, by seeing how much raw gas is going out his tailpipe. He is lucky it doesn’t catch fire.
$5 worth of gas dont get you far 😂😂😂😂
DA is complete JOKE, You really thought he was going to comply 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It’s a good day when I see a notification from this channel
Just saw a chase yesterday of a white SUV in L.A. There were so many white SUV's the helicopter lost track of it a few times. Not a problem for this one. Albuquerque is a large city but, probably not large enough where they wouldn't spot this guy some day soon even if he had gotten away.
At this point it's probably not a bad idea to use stop sticks as a preventative measure on most stops.
I am shocked.... SHOCKED that he didn't complete the required stipulations.
I would have thought this fine upstanding honour student would have gone above and beyond anything the court would bring simply because he is an Aladdin... A rough diamond.
Oh.... Wait.
😂Exactly!
Out of gas ! Calling Uber or door dash 😂
So tired of this entire culture of degenerates, putting everyone at risk for nothing. Everyone likes to drive fast bro, the rest of us just know how to follow the rules.
Lowest IQ of any state, hyper-emotional insecure culture, all driven by social media that they're addicted to.
You and me both and I'm pretty sure others have our same thinking too.
That IR view from the helicopter is pretty cool, that big heavy car is really making those tires/brakes work. Just glowing.
The exhaust pulses too, when he got on it hard.
Pulses? Is that what you call dumping raw fuel out of the tailpipe, creating a flamethrower?
This video starts at Academy and San Mateo.. that's no where near the Sunport! Edit: but if you'd have told me it was possible to make it to the Sunport in under five minutes I wouldn't have believed you before today. 🙂
Wait til' drones get to where they're as fast as choppers and can be launched from cruisers, controlled by a guy at the precinct with a VR set.
The usual ethnic group??? How does he NOT notice the helicopter????
seriously!
"Hmmmm, wut's dat noise above me? Naahhh, dat helicoptah is for summin else right next to me" 😂😂😂
Altitude minus elevation shows the helicopter is about 1100 feet above the car .
He was too busy on his phone calling mummy 😉
@@LesCunliffe Exactly...and telling Mummy he didn't do nuttin.
It's always there. 5000 ft. Making circles for hours
Man the heat signatures coming off of that car when he punches it are really cool looking- and deadly looking
Plea deal? Crazy.
I knew what "type" of person this was before seeing the mugshot at the end.
100%
No obvious signs of cops and yet he continues to drive the a plank
Awesome job by the air and ground Officers!! It wasn't me, it was my alter ego. Another fine citizen who will continually drain the taxpayers money!
That Challenger is really throwing off some heat.
Over 15 minutes before any law enforcement vehicles where in sight. Terrible response time, especially considering airel surveillance.
They need to send him a “police helicopter rental” bill.
Bear in the air.
Great channel!👏
New Mexico State Police is a disgrace or ever other law enforcement in NM
NM judicial system is pathetically broken as it appears to run by super soft on crime judges and DAs. This perps driving was unequivocally felony reckless driving and as such, should have been given jail time, community service time, and a fine $$$. Let's hope NM issues a warrant for his arrest.
That IR cam makes it easy. They couldn’t miss an illegal car meetup/shutdown anywhere in the county.
Somehow they miss all the illegal immigrants though haha
Really, these guys should go to prison until they are old enough to have grown out of it.
Hhmmm... I wonder what car it is, maybe the one glowing hot. 😂 That thing sticks out like a sore thumb. That is something I've never thought about.
29:00 If I were the officer I'd have used his fob to chirp the Challenger right about here.
Criminals take note... When you are caught this is how you act. It would be better if you didn't run but ya know.
😂😂😂 His story: I am just out for a walk chatting with a friend Officer.😂
not that this should matter, but that was a challenger not a charger lol
I have always wondered how often this happenes.
Wow- that thermal-imaging camera on the 'copter really made it very easy to follow that Charger's heat-footprint.. A load of energy blowing out the tail- pipe of that Hemi beast- plus those brakes were also working hard at times.. Kudos to the Air Support team.. A big thumbs down to the pathetic prosecution team.. What a waste of public funding they were....
I don't blame him for being upset. Mama didn't lend him money for gas.
Aww... he loves his brother!
Essentially he got off with no real consequences. Wonder if he will just do it again?
If I were a betting woman I would say YES he will pull some stupid sh*t again and again.
He was charged with armed robbery and possession of stolen property in 2016, so it seems he's a "career criminal" at this point.
Shocking.
The crime is those shoes !!😂
Challenger, not Charger
The lower right hand corner of the helicopter camera, harsh!
I’ve always said it’s stupid to run from the cops because eventually you will run out of gas. Now look what happened 😂
He is sure you have made a mistake, officer!😅😅😅
27:19 for everyone
Great job!
Bond 50 dollar.
The justice system is weak.
Wow! Hes leaving a heat trail..😮 hes booking it! But eyes are above you, Crazy😅
Damn, how'd it take so long to get his azz? Went through a Airport twice am I right? Glad it wasn't a bigger threat.
Albuquerque, N.M. and the Oakland, C.A. mayor's office/police dept. should hook-up and start a comedy series on how to run a city. Does anybody , anywhere do background checks on the people they hire to operate these positions
those solar powered Chargers don't work as well at night
So he is a typical coward runner now x10 for failure to take responsibility after getting the other charges dropped.
No police near him, and he drives on the wrong side of the road. Shouldn't be walking free.
1:32 Nitroooooooo!
Not nitro, but wasted gas that’s burning way past those pistons. Got that one set too rich.
@@rastus666 you miss the joke
Reminiscent of the white Hellcat destroying all aircraft and ground officers between downtown Houston and Beaumont.. ONLY to run out of gas.. Excellent driving 'chops'! But, had he only made a single turn in either direction off of I-10, they'd never had found him other than by accident..
why would you choose to run knowing you are low on gas, lmao.
I think he's calling Uber 😂
Wow. Who would’ve guessed. Didn’t have work that day. Or any day.
You should look into the footage for the guy who launched over a RR crossing thru a barbed wire fence near Roswell a few days ago... 😂
ran out of gas lmao but not laughing about charges being dropped and big shocker he didn't show up for the other stuff ...big surprise...NOT!
Was that car stolen? I mean that dude couldn't afford a decent pair of pants, how could he afford that car?
My Dodge Durango SRT passes almost everything, but the gas station. 😂 If your gonna run make sure you have at least half a tank. Most importantly tho, make sure there is nothing flying overhead...
That 🤡 never outran the police it was an easy catch , Copter was on it and giving directions to cops below , I know im from there . Headline wack
that's why its call Albacrazy 505 🤣
Really ???? In a Dodge , Really, ? And he tried to flee ? I’m so surprised
⛽️
How about the Prosecution out there start doing their jobs and put people in jail for breaking the law..!
You got a love the eye in the sky 😂
Well, he isn't a thief because he's smart. 🤪
CHALLENGER... ah, I give up...
Paragon of Society.
Definition of paragon: A model of excellence or perfection of a kind; a peerless example.
He's absolutely not a paragon whatsoever OR was that internet sarcasm? lol
FacePalm! DOH!
If he had ditched his car in the garage, gone into the airport, and called a friend to pick him up, he would have been fine, right?
Because the only place with as many cameras as a casino is ...
@@BethLindsey1970 he would have evaded capture in the short term, it’s not like they’d kick his door down for this
@@BethLindsey1970walmart 🤔😅🤣
Dang that was boring to watch
Running out of gas before a helicopter?
When the Lord was handing out brains that dude thought he said rain and he ran. lol
Soo you can highlight a vehicle from the heli ?
Is there a K9 in the copter with a squeaky toy or what? 🙃
Gotta keep those stereotypes alive and well 😂😂🤡🤡🤡🤡
Were the cops riding bikes or walking to catch him 😅😅😅
Typical Prosecutors letting people slide what was going to be the charge if he hit & killed somebody driving the speeds he drove
New Mexico Judicial System is a Joke
