How often should you wash a vehicle?
What about if it drives about 2,500 miles per week?
I drive pure black Livery (limo) SUV's I take it thru the automatic car wash place about once a day, but would LOVE if the black paint actually stayed BLACK... and stayed cleaner longer.
Any suggestions?
Great video, I do like old Volvos, including this one, which puts up a fight when being repaired lol 😂.
Limo drivers and taxi drivers have it tough as the car is always exposed to the elements and if you go to an automatic car wash every day, even the best ceramic coatings will eventually fail (even though they last way longer compared to regular waxes or sealants). Your best bet would be to stay on top of things by having a ceramic coating applied, and then maintaining that coating with a silica spray sealant once every two weeks. The paint should at least stay glossy and slick (even though it will accumulate swirls and scratches).
@@PanTheOrganizer exactly! I yse the turkle wax and dry... I think? The green bottle. And it will look great, but one MAYBE 2 trips thru the car wash and it's gone.... not to mention the black just isn't black. When we first by them they look great, and in less then a few months they start to show ALL the swirls and are not shiny.
And I've looked for the "black" products at Wal-Mart, Target, Auto zone even Lowes... lol and NO ONE has them. 😥
Thanks, what about us UK guys? Do you have any recommendations like kits or would you suggest getting everything separately?
The passion when he said driving a clean car feels so much better, I felt that. Even as a young enthusiast :)
😁👍🏻
good for at least 5 hp!
Very true! When I go on a datenight with my wife I always go with a clean car. Just because the feeling is superb.
Lol feel guilty when you have a single gum wrapper in the cup holder
@@PanTheOrganizer hey pan, can i use carpro reset for hand washing my car eventough my car doesnt have any protection on it(no wax and no ceramic coat) ? Or should i use some other shampoo?
Could you do a video where you try to clean your car at a public self wash station? For example some people have nice cars but live in apartment complexes. It would be interesting to see how youd organize a 'esential cleaning pack' that you can take in the car and basically do the stuff there and only use the water from the wash :) not their brush🤢 Awesome video nonetheless
I second this. Long New England winters and no indoor washing at home… The public car wash is my only real option.
I use a public self wash station as i live in a apartment, i take my detailing bag with various chemicals; wheel cleaner, pre wash in a pump sprayer and shampoo, drying towels. Take it even further you can carry 3 buckets filled with water and take them to the wash bay and crack on
Do you guys know if he made something like this or found other helpful videos? I’m in the same boat!
Yes

Absolute perfection. A joy to watch as always. Love the hose gaurd for tires, you're amazing pan! I personally have stopped using the rim brush, noticed minor scratches recently. Little more work, but using a dedicated rim wash mit instead, now got too many mits!
Thanks Ali!

I always love Pan videos. I love how the products were listed in the order that he was talking about them. That was the best part. I didn’t have to pause the video and go looking for the product in the description. Another great video Pan. Of course we want to see the interior. Keep them coming. Love it!!
Thanks for the positive feedback!
Ofcourse we want interior 🤗
Absolutely 👌
You could also say, that he has not done the job before the interior is done.. And of course also the engine bay and underneath the car. Title should be: How to wash a car, like an amateur..
@@andersnielsen6044 Do you wash your interior or clean it?
@@anthonyfonseca2417 Actually both. Carpets and seats gets washed. ;)
He forgot the door jams.
Whoever buys Pan’s cars when he sells them are very lucky people!
Uh...it is THE CAR!!!!!
If I was a professional car detailer and followed Pan's method, would I be able to buy a new Porshe every few years?
@@Digmen1 that's CZcams money my friend
I somehow just discovered your channel and have been tearing through videos. I can’t get enough! Just wanted to drop a comment here and say today was my first time pre-treating the car using your recommended sprayer and product. Wow amazing results! Also picked up a tire brush (big difference), and finally upgraded from a hose + foam gun to a pressure washer + foam cannon. The results are remarkable. Thanks and keep doing what you’re doing it’s very helpful!
Thanks for the positive feedback Michael. How did you discover my channel?
Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on CZcams as we surpassed 790,000 subscribers and 100 million views! I have been detailing for 25 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers.
You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing.
@@PanTheOrganizer thanks Pan and congrats on your channel! You have a new dedicated subscriber here for sure.
I was always a weekend warrior when it came to detailing. Got as far as doing my own paint correction and ceramic coating.
I found your channel searching for tire dressing application with no sling. The sling has been the bane of my existence when my wife and I have white cars. The way you walked through the use of the tire brush, fully drying the tire, and the application process just clicked. From there I was hooked and watched a ton of your videos.
Ready to take my results to the next level.
Thanks again!!
JESUS CHRIST died for you in a cross for our sins. 3 days after his death he resurrected and is The LIVING GOD. Repent from your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior in a prayer and also ask for the HOLY SPIRIT to come into you in that same prayer as well. You could come to Jesus Christ as you are, but once you accept Him, you have to become new, change, and be born again. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. God Bless You.
Hello Pan, ONCE AGAIN, EXCELLENT!! I've been detailing since I was 16 years old...You are one of the best detailers I have ever seen...Your channel has already given me some new ideas on how to be the best detailer I can be! THANK YOU SIR for that... Thanks man!! #DETAILKING

Love the way this video is formatted Pan, very easy to absorb and see the content.
Would absolutely love an interior guide in this style! I've been able to reduce my washes to about 60-90 minutes but I find myself spending hours on the interior.
Thanks Alvin!
Yet another great video Pan. It’s early morning and I just came in from washing my vehicle. Love the step by step approach to detailing. I’m now so confident and have a relaxing time washing my vehicle. Such a great feeling to look out in the sun and see a beautifully clean car. I’m always learning and experimenting and usually say “ what would Pan do?” Because of you I now use a spray wax as a drying agent and no more water spots! Thanks again and look forward to your next video.
That’s great feedback Steve! Thank you!
Good work Pan. Well, I think I will add the pre treatment step to my process also. I've been washing cars and having fun for 45 years now, and I think that the level who I am today never been that high & professional. Since the time I'm following you, you help me a lot to reach that level. Thanks! Frank
Thanks for that Frank! Glad I can help you bring your detailing game to the next level. :)
Hey Pan, your content is awesome! Upon starting my detailing business I used your list of recommended products which has helped out SO much. Just wanted to thank you for that. And the Porsche you have is absolutely amazing!!
Thanks for the positive feedback! I wish you tons of success with your business! How did you discover my channel by the way?
@@PanTheOrganizer I discovered your channel last year, I was interested in starting my own detailing business from pure passion. I googled "products for automotive Detailing" and you were up top on the list through CZcams 👌👌
Pan, once again, absolutely outstanding and strong work! I appreciate updated tutorials on washing, detailing techniques. Reinforces my "patchwork" of knowledge from watching your other videos, and "weaves" it all together. Really appreciate it,Pan!! Query: is TW Graphene Flex Aid an acceptable "drying aid" if you have already applied it as a dry base coat?
Thanks Richard! Yes you can use it as a drying aid once the base layer is applied but I wouldn’t recommend it after each wash. Maybe once a month. It’s a pretty durable spray on protection so don’t overdo it.
Thanks for the updated exterior tutorial,Pan! I wouldn’t mind seeing an updated interior video, if you choose to make it. Continued Success!
Thanks!
Amazing video I’ve got a passion to detail cars and just as you said it is such an amazing feeling when you’re driving a clean car… I do agree with that ! I’m doing detailing on the side of my full time job with a dream to start my own detailing business sometime soon… to detail a car like yours would be mind blowing and such an honor! Thank you for the tips and information!!

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. How did you discover my channel by the way?
@@PanTheOrganizer Started getting into light detailing as a hobby 6 months ago, when an automatic car wash messed up the paint work on my brand new car. I was looking for a good channel to guide me through the microfiber/product jungle and came across your channel.
Always waiting for Saturday's super exciting episodes. Thanks Paaaaaaaan!!😊
😁👍🏻
My go to maintenance is
-P&S Brake buster for the wheels and tires
-Carpro Lift for the pre wash
-Carpro Reset plus a bit of Carpro Multi X for washing and two bucket method
(Been trying out GSF loving it so far)
-Ego leaf blower and the gauntlet for dying
-P&S bead maker drying aid
-Carpro Clarify for the glass
-Carpro for tire dressing
-P&S Xpress interior with a damp microfiber for the interior
Pan, I love the color of your Porsche! So sleek! I’ve also been in love with the color “Chalk” that Porsche does. Also, love the rag company gauntlet drying towel… that thing amazes me every time I use it lol.

Great products and fantastic tips and tricks as usual👌🏻. I would love to see a follow up to this video from an interior point of view👍🏻🙏🏻. Thank you Pan for producing such epic content🙏🏻.
Thanks Konsta!
Getting back into detailing and this was the perfect refresher course. Thanks!
😁👍🏻
Had my first washing after 8 weeks of garage keeping. Don't yet have a pressure washer but the Eley hose sprayer nozzle set worked fine. I was not able to foam but otherwise followed the pattern in the video. As the car was just professionally finished and ceramic coated the results were great. I finished with Gyeon Wet Coat on the wheels and a Carpro Hydro2 Lite wet spray while towel drying the glass and paint. Looks too nice to drive. I can't thank you enough Pan.
🙌🏻😁
Great video! I'm thinking about doing some car washing/detailing on the side and this is great info!
Thanks for the positive feedback Josh!
Great vid🙂. Your tip on using a rinse less wash spray before foam wash is excellent. I’ve been doing it and the wash is much easier and less contaminants to scratch the vehicle. 👍🏽
Thanks Butch!
Butch I understand the less contaminants bit, but how does it make the wash easier for you? This isn’t a step I’m doing yet but thinking about incorporating it.
@@ianirwin5405 I would normally foam the car, let it sit then rinse. Then foam (instead of dipping my wash mitt in soapy water) and use that foam to hand wash. So I did what Pan did, spray the rinse less wash, let it sit, and then proceed to my foam wash.
The rinse less wash is supposed to be designed to remove dirt better. So thats what I do now, maybe I’m wrong, but Pan is more experienced than me so I followed his instructions.
I tried it and I like it, but everyone’s conditions are different.
On my comment on it being easier:
I think it’s easier because It seems like the rinse less wash removes a lot more dirt than a foam pre wash so my foam hand wash is faster. But again everyone’s conditions and results are different.
Thanks for another incredibly professional, knowledgeable and succinct video. You can tell that this is more than just a job for you. This is a passion and you truly love what you do, as well as love learning new ways of doing what you do. Your channel is one of the reasons why I started detailing cars. Thanks again for being incredible. Please do stop or change. I really enjoyed this video (as always 😉). Keep up the great work!
Thanks Lady Ez! I appreciate it! How did you discover my channel by the way?
I am not quite sure, it was a few years back. Since then I have watched lots of your videos. As well as these other detailing channels: detail geek, chemical guys, and adam polishes. I have never left a comment before. Thanks for the response. 🙂
One area you didn't cover in washing a car is to clean and dress the inner wheel wells. I typically clean well as I clean the wheels and then when I dress the tires (I use Mequiars natural shine protectant), I spray the inner wheel wells and use a scrap piece if towel to work it in to the surface. It makes the wheel wells look so great. I picked up this habit from watching preowned dealers and wholesalers spray a dressing on the inner wheel wells to make them look better.
Hey pan, I think you missed one thing that I always make sure to take care of during or after the detail. The windshield wiper wipe down at some point during the wash because if the windows are clean but the wipers aren't it will get it dirty again! :) other than that, perfect video as always!
OH What do you use? I wipe it down but not with product
@@bzmouse after detailing the car you want to take a damp microfiber towel and pinch both wiper blades one at a time and floss them with the towel back and forth a few times before putting them down back on the glass. Assuming this is also done after you clean the exterior front winshield. Cleaning the wipers after every wash ensures you don't contaminate the glass so quickly after washing. No product needed just water ;)

Hi pan. I just want to thank you for teaching this 70 year old how to detail my own vehicles. Many of us travel to events to exhibit our vehicles and once we arrive we always want to freshen up the looks by removing the road gunk. It would be very helpful if you could do a tutorial on waterless, outdoor quick detailing. Big show coming in July and would like my 2005 Audi TT to looks its best. Thank you for all your advice. A forever fan.
Hi Michael! Will you have access to water at the show? That would be your best option. If you need 100% waterless (I would never recommend that, unless you have no other choice) you can watch my tutorial: czcams.com/video/8y-dB9Z0L-k/video.html
@@PanTheOrganizer Hi Pan. Thank you for getting back to me. Unfortunately no water will be available. I will use your recommended "waterless" cleaners and techniques. Thanks for the video. God bless.

I totally agree Mark!

Love your videos pan wife and I got a town house recently so we got a two car garage about to start a CZcams detailing channel myself and start a detailing business of my own thanks for the lessons and inspiration
I just wanna say thank you for all your advice and videos you made. I’m starting a side business. I’m about to have a son and I want to give him what I couldn’t have. Aventually I want to be a full time detailer. Thank you so much again for all you do!
That is awesome! You are most welcome Lorenzo and I wish you good luck with your new business and congrats on having a new baby soon!
Yes, I would love to see an interior tutorial video on your new Porsche 911 Turbo. By the way, one of the unique (Pan-only) tips you have offered for quite some time on cleaning the tires is to be sure that the cleaning suds are white indicating that the tires are now clean. On so many other detailers' videos the suds still look like chocolate milkshake on the tires but they seemingly move on after a quick rinse to another part of the car. I never know whether they just cut out a second scrub of the tires to shorten the video or if they just don't do it. I appreciate your great attention to the finer details.
Thanks Margaret! I appreciate the feedback.
Hi Pan, I recommend the new single bucket wash method, it guarantees no dirt gets on your wash mitts.
You just need 1 bucket of soap and 6-8 wash mitts.
Use the wash mitts and dip in soap once per panel and then set aside.
This means you are using a new wash mitt per panel and guaranteed no dirt in your soap bucket since it’s a new mitt every time.
Hope this helps in the future :)
I will definitely use this method when I finally have enough wash mitts.
I lost two of my wash mitts because I forgot them at the self service car wash I go to sometimes lol.
I saw another guy do this with microfibre cloths folder in 4. He would use 1 cloth for 2 panels or so, flipping the cloth to a fresh side each time. Then toss it aside and grab a fresh one.

DOOR JAMBS… I know you did them but I don’t recall you mentioning it. Another great video Pan. I wouldn’t mind seeing an in depth video on how you get into the tight spaces in the door jambs. Or link one you have already done.
I simply use the McKee’s or ONR Rinseless washes as a drying aid to clean the door jambs after the wash is done.
Or .. if the jams are well maintained.. simply use your mitt with soap. When rinsing the water will flush it out. Every couple months i will get in there good with ONR.
@@Jeeper1378 many areas are very hard to reach with a mitt. Do you have any recommendations for brushes to reach those places?

@Pan The Organizer The pleasure is all mine, what an eye opener! Btw I chanced upon your channel from the feed due to searches on car coating products recently. What a great find! Thanks for your contents. That said, congrats to your beautiful 911! Cheers!
When you foamed it from the start you let it sit a few minutes and then started to bucket wash it That is fine if you are starting out with a fairly clean car but if you have a car with a lot of road grime, bugs, dirt etc. Should you not rinse that foam off first after letting it dwell a couple minutes and then start your two bucket wash?
Hmmm. He doesnt respond to videos that question his methods or perceived critism.
@@tomacheteful I have yet to watch a single video of Pan's (meaning that I'm not some "fan" of his). I'm considering watching this one but wanted to first read a handful of comments to help me decide whether I think it might be worth watching. In reading just a few comments, I did already see one (3mos before your comment, I think) asking why he contact-washed the foam, instead of rinsing it and THEN contact-washing, and his explanation was precisely what Josh said-- that the car was already clean enough that it didn't require the two separate steps. Just wanted to let you know that you seemed to have formed the wrong impression (and then typed it out :-) ). Cheers.
That is am awesome video I have been detailing cars for 35 years since I was 15 me and my Dad have been members of one of the local classic car clubs for a long time and I love it. I have found a little trick to cleaning windows if you don't have microfiber towels is to use newspaper
Excellent video! I will add that, in addition to the windows, I always dry those door jams! There will always be puddles in there that the blowers won't get, and they drip onto the exterior at the most inopportune times.

Glad it was helpful!
As a weekend warrior these products work great for me especially McKee's rinseless wash in pre-wash .
One tip I came up with my self when dealing with spray on and rinse off sealants.. work from the bottom up when you rinse with the pressure washer.. less likely to have the drippings from the washing going on up top carrying off any product before you have a chance to set it in with pressure on the lower parts. Love it or hate it.. I found this method works well for insuring everything is going on more evenly.

I have a 2007 Lexus ES350 that I really like and intend to keep for years to come and I want to protect and preserve the soon to be 16 year old paint. Some of my previous cars the paint developed issues, oxidation, fading from the sun and heat (I live in Texas). Pan,
I enjoy your videos on car detailing and cleaning. You have mentioned before about troublesome water spotting when rinsing the car after washing. I have found a way to eliminate this effect completely. I do a final rinse with store-bought distilled water which dries absolutely clean with no residue whatsoever. I use a battery-powered pressure washer (I have a Dewalt unit that works great.) that can be fed from a 5-gallon bucket containing the distilled water. Four to five gallons are enough to rinse the card. It is especially good in the gaps between panels where it is very hard to dry with a towel. It only costs about $7 for the water. I also use this system for my house windows.
I have a water deionizer setup that eliminates 100% of water spots as it has zero minerals.
Super simple setup. I presented that in this video: czcams.com/video/IKNL1chAQXY/video.htmlsi=NU2j0wY2Un1SyQ0U

A new car is never new until it's properly detailed.
- at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example.
- vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc
- vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements
- at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches
- at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat.
If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well.
I explain all of this in this popular video: czcams.com/video/QgoyrC-5CMc/video.html
So you can better visualize the new car prep process, here are the steps I perform on a brand new car from two of my customers:
