Join me as I do a solo camp in the woods, alone in my tiny cabin that we built from recycled pallet wood. I take this time to switch off from the world and reconnect with nature. I practise bushcraft skills, building an aures crane using some simple bushcraft tools: A saw, bushcraft knife and some cordage. In the evening I cook up a one pot stew on the woodstove. This was time well spent alone in the wild and it was great to get away from society. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for this! For those of us who'd like to get out, but can't, watching these is a great way to spend our "shelter at home" time.
I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos keep up the good work mate.
I enjoy watching your content. Stay safe with your newborn and wife. We will get through this and come out stronger. Prayers for you all in the UK from SC of USA.
At least we are all in this together and we have great video to Wath in the coming weeks.thanks again for the entertainment. I am in my manhut, now with a cuppa coffee.
Will film some footage tomorrow if anyone want to have a look .
This pallet shed is the reason I made my sanctuary out my back yard. I am never our of it....
This cabin is still my favorite of all the various things you've built.
Absolutely!
that settles it i'm going to sleep in the garden shed and pretend i'm in the wild i'll just ignore the car alarms and sound of cats fighting :D
truthfilter i was homeless for a year, then I moved into a transitional village. They put us in, functionally, tall garden sheds. The floor was 8x8 but the height was 12 feet. No heat, no electricity, no running water. I had to get a bottle-top hand pump and brought my solar gennie with me so I was covered for those, but still no heat. Lived that way for 3.5 years.
Wanna know a secret?? Most of those cats aren't fighting, they done be doing the nasty!! Lol
@donnie brown
True, they make the same noises which ever one they are doing. Dogs will breed anywhere, any time, they don't care who is watching. Kind of like Catholics drinking.
But cats, cats are sneaky like a Baptist, you might never see them do it, but you know they are out there raising hell just from the sounds they make.
@@davide.burden2043 from a Baptist..,..BWAHAH, LOL, been laughing for about 10 minutes!!!!!!
That the best comment I've read in a VERY long time!!!! In these times this old man needed that!!! Thank you!!!!😁😁👍👍👍👍👍
It's OK you can call it a cabin
Hey Mike, now this is what I call the real life. The less you have to worry about the more you can really live. Thanks for taking us along and cheers, Martin 🤜🏼🤛🏼🤠
I honestlt pray that all your family, friends and nation come through this healthy and safe. Bless you all!
From 2000, I spent 9 years in the UK, three at university in Bracknell, England, and six living in Pontypool, Wales. (I pastored churches in Cardiff and Newport). My ex is back in England now, working for the NHS south of London. Here in Kentucky, I live in a 12x20 shed on an acre lot (where I'm writing from), about two-hundred feet from my mother's home. I moved here a few years ago to look after her following her stroke.
Camping, of a sort, for more than three years, I often watch your videos or similar channels while carving spoons, sharpening my tools, fixing a meal, or relaxing on my bunk before going to sleep. Several nights ago I enjoyed seeing you and your Dad build the thatched shelter, learning a few things as well. I was especially impressed with how hard you both worked. Having built a few houses over the years...nothing like that...I can appreciate your labor and craft.
Till last week, I was supplementing my social security with driving for the large Amish community here, but have temporarily given that up for their safety and mine. We still have no known cases of Covid-19 in our rural county, and Kentucky has yet to see the numbers of many other places, but the months to come are looking hard.
Thanks for sharing your craft and your life with us. Be safe and God bless.
@Revelation Is right. Will do! She is working hard. Be safe.
Nice words .Life's good .
Feel blessed only God is holding us in safety
@@marisolfernandez9927 Yes. So true.
My Dad was a Newport lad and I’m just outside Cardiff. Love watching CZcamsrs like this too, would love a patch of land to build my own cabin.
You notice how the cabin keeps getting more and more advanced. You'll eventually end up where we are now. Its in our very nature
Had to laugh a bit when you mentioned the empty shelves of coffee. My friends/family used to tease me that I have always kept a 2 year supply on hand. Anytime there is a drought/flood or now, a lock down, coffee is one of the items that gets hit. Thank you for justifying my worries. Best of health from across the pond.
How do you keep it fresh? Or are you much tougher than the rest of us? lol...
So good to see ya pop up online with a new video... Thanks for letting us escape with you into the woods... Stay safe my friend
Back to the basics of the channel Mike. Can't wait to watch it. I work at a hospital and we are starting to set up drive thru testing. Your vids give me a much needed break from the world. Cheers and stay safe. 🍻
Thanks for your work; you are so appreciated and I hope you feel it every day. Be well!
me too I'm sick of hearing it
Thanks for being a hero, stay healthy!
That last fire starting aid looks like the historical slow match used in artillery ignition. I always love the returns to the pallet wood cabin! Love the G-Stove with Oven! The CRANE is one of my favorite camp kitchen projects you taught me!
Campin alone is priceless, it offer's a piece of mind you can't get anywhere else. When you get back to the pad it feels refreshing.
Yup
Ya baby
Guitar and amp cold beer fat joint.
When I had an off-grid place, I just had 2 of everything, one for home, one for the country. Don't have to pack things in and don't have to worry about forgetting the can opener.
Having some time at the pallet cabin was just what I needed. Total serenity - a brief moment from the turmoil we all are facing. Thanks much! Cheers.
I love how he says the Cabin is all Locked up :) best pallet cabin ever. Thank you for keeping this going in the times we are in. A bright spot in the day when your videos are announced. I hope your dad and you family are all well (including the newborn) so please stay safe.
Dear Mike, we have a lot of craziness here in the states as well I enjoy your channel you and your family stay safe and GOD BLESS.
Shawn Knight craziness in plenty over here in the UK too
This is the kind of stuff I miss from the channel! I enjoy the epic builds but sometimes just some easy-going bushcraft and relaxation is what the doctor ordered.
Want to say thank you for channel. I always look forward to what's going on with viking house, pallet cabin, etc. With the stress going on (I work in a hospital in California) watching bushcraft on your channel always makes a difference. Keep up the great work!
I think the woods sounds like a damn fine place to be right now. If I had a well stocked cabin in the middle of nowhere I'd be in it. Take care and be safe, Mikey.
Same!! 😁
As a Nurse here in the States, Thank you for your thoughts. I need space to build a hide away like yours. Keep your chin up.
If he keeps his chin up, he will get knocked out...
Please be safe.
I used to find peace in mechanical tinkering and welding. Nowadays I'd be happy to camp in our backyard in a dog house including the dog. Labrador pooches are good smoogers plus we could both fart with limited consequences. Love ya cabin dude
and you blame the dog
This helps with all the madness thank you. It comes to a relief watching you carrying on even though it becomes more difficult the more you film the more you help those who don't know
Thanks for some peaceful content out there in the wilderness. Hope you are safe and well! We got to keep up our morale and stay strong and smiling!
Now I'm watching this on Dec. 23! We never imagined things would keep being weird this long! But you're right, one foot in front of the other, and keep going. Hey, that stew looks good on a snowy night here in Iowa!
Your back pack is like a clown car. I didn’t think you’d ever stop taking things out. Good job!
I want to say thank you just saw this video today. I am a manager at a gas station have been working through this whole pandemic have watched ur videos alot throughout it. So thank you again. Been watching off and on for over a year thoroughly enjoy them keep up the great work!
this is a great video. thank you for sharing. my husband first stumbled upon your earlier video when you built the cabin with your dad, and we cant get enough of how awesome the outdoor living and going back to basics is really.
Ah the good bushcrafting, your calming bushcrafting videos helped me through a lot of tough times, thank you for making them
The charred end of that rope should easily take a spark from a flint and steel, or ferro rod, and be an instant ember which you can use to start a fire bundle. I believe that is how those are intended to be used. It is essentially reusable tinder.
01:20 25th March - just finished watching and can honestly say it was fascinating and relaxing. I have been advised to stay in with no face to face FOR 12 WEEKS and looking forward to binge on you and your dad's back catalogue. BE SAFE
Love your videos. I was watching this one over a break at work. I work with an Emergency Department in the States teaching them computer things. It's really nice to see something other than COVID19 updates. So thank you for that and stay safe for your family and yourself.
Plus I know we all want to keep watching your videos! I know I do.
Best of luck across the pond there. Keep it up.
Shane
Here’s a challenge, take yourself and your buddies and families use the shelters you made and live in them for a week. Make the necessary needs, shower or washroom, toilets etc... let’s see the village in full swing lol
I was thinking, if push came to shove. They had could all just go there.
We all know who the cook would be ha ha
Hello
I love your wisdom and how much you enjoy your craft out in the woods, it is so peaceful watching the detail of nature and how you take focus on that. thank you for your content blessings to you and your Fam and stay safe on this hard moment the world is going through.
As I watch this, just outside my window in a doorless storage shed, a robin is sitting on her eggs. Everything in the garden is budding up and coming out in leaf, and sooner or later I'll hear the cheeping of little robin chicks. Just makes me think, whatever madness happens in our human world, life goes on. Stay strong everyone, keep safe, and most of all, don't panic. Panic only makes things worse. Keep calm, and be ready. Hold the ones you love close to you, for they are the most important thing in the world. Hopefully this crisis will help some more people see that. Tight lines all.
While I'm finding out who I'm gonna be
Mike and family stay safe and healthy.
I like the way you can swivel the pot away from the fire without removing it from the hanger.i will definitely use this technique 👍
Watched and commented eight months ago. Pops up on my feed...time to enjoy a TA rerun with Mike doing his thing. Life is truly good folks. Mike clearly understands this and sharing his take on it with us is inspiring and much appreciated. 😍
As a Supermarket worker, I thank You for recognising us. Lately, a lot of us have suffered abuse from the public. Nice to have someone publicly recognise Our work. We are after all putting our lives in danger. You wouldn’t believe how many people still don’t get how serious & deadly this covid is. Epic video man.
It’s 3 years since and we still get abused by the public. At least in America we do. Dunno how the rest of the world is now.
So great to see you at the pallet wood cabin again and lovely to see the tips on the fire crane and fire starting rope. Wishing you all safety and health. ❤
Sometimes wooden cabin in a nature alone can be more peaceful than a 2 bedrooms 2 saloon house in a town.😍
@@CJSurabian I would love to but no guts to do for a lifetime though😅
Shoutout to the red rooster coffee!!! Brewed in my neck of the woods!!!
Upchurch?
Of the many skills I've seen and admired from your videos, I have to say your axe and carving skills are ON POINT.
Love that Red Rooster coffee. They grind it right here in my adopted home town of Floyd, VA.
Isn’t that in SW VA

Just stumbled across your channel ...love the cabin! "lockdown" doesn't have to suck...it can be a benefit! (Cheers-Forest, from Iowa, midwest USA)
I really miss the palet wood cabben. I would love a place where I could escape to like this. Seeing the crain for the pot hanging brings back memeorys of u at the bush craft camp with the hunting tower. Grate vid thanks mate!! 😁😁
I have learned so much from you. Praying the situation gets better soon. Take care of you and your family.
Brother man at 5 minutes. An already forgot about whats going on outside. You enjoy yourself. Really looks peaceful. (No noise no news) just relaxed in the woods. Thank you for your videos. Really do like the viking build house. Always a fan of a whole length stone fireplace in the middle of a room.
The first 5 minutes and 30 seconds is the Best ASMR EVER! 👍👍👍👍
Just went away with some friends from uni to a cabin in Maine. Pretty much had my phone off the whole time and just hung out with all my friends by a frozen lake. It was very needed.
Mike, you're so peaceful and awesome. Great post and narrative.
Very peaceful and relaxing 🎧🔊💯✔
It will be great when the lockdown is lifted and participate in this type of getaway. Peaceful, tranquil and a serene setting. An ideal place for relaxation and appreciation of nature and the natural world.
Or learn these skills and get away so your not forced into a lock down
Thank you Mike. Love you all - say hi to Dad - you all stay safe and we love anything you can give us.
Boy did I need this video. Keep them coming Mike, we appreciate your videos more than ever. Thank you.
I am making Beef stew as I watch you enjoying self in the woods. How peaceful it all looks at your cabin and it's great to see you out .
That was lovely, Thank you. I hope you and your family is safe and finding entertainment during this.
🇨🇦Greetings from Canada! Now I’m going to have a coffee as well. I’m watching the news from the UK and hoping that there’s going to be good news soon.
great video,,needed this...time we all have to hunker down..Not sure how this got so bad..I know it is airborne..but this is really something no one was prepared for..prayers to you and family and for the world..stay safe.
And yet one doctor noted online that he's been studying this strain since the 1970s. He skipped the part about what he learned and what he did with the information.
Nice fresh pot of beef stew. Who could complain. Salt and pepper would go well with the stew too!
😋😊⚓🇬🇧🇺🇸
You get some salt in the stock block, but I'm with you on the pepper!
I always find your videos interesting and informative. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to the next one.
YAY! I was excited to see the old cabin in this video! Brought me back to the old days of the bushcraft camp and shed sundays haha I'm on lockdown here in Ohio in the states as well....glad i've got some of your videos to watch! stay safe!
Love to you and your family, stay safe Mike.
The fire lighter is soft jute rope soaked with candle wax, or at least that's how I do it, the tube is a good idea I hadn't thought of.
Thank you for your spirit in these funky times!
I learned when we had a wood stove for heating and occasionally cooking that you can put your grill under the pot and it gives you enough space that pot doesn’t get too hot. Just a thought. Please keep up the great videos.
Now more than any time in the last 75 years...Keep Calm and Carry On. Take care if you and yours Mike. Best Regards and thanks for the great uploads.
Just been watching for the 10th time the log cabin series before this was released, this is absolutely what I needed, thanks for this amazing video!! Cheers from Mexico
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful job wonderful skills and away from the madness my brother please be careful and safe nice weather great environment God bless us all
The changes you made to the outside look awesome!
I have always love the pallet wood cabin nice to see you use it again. Thanks for the great bushcrafting. We are about to go into lockdown in my county in Florida in two days I plan on spending the day somewhere in the woods all day tomorrow. Take care Mike.
There's a gator in the bushes, he's calling my name.... Molly Hatchet! Gator Country.
Love the over nights in the pallet cabin.
A little bit of paradise. What a beautiful and relaxing place to get away to. I very much appreciate your posting it.
Thank you for all your videos! I've been following them this year...it has been my virtual scape in 2020!
Wish you and all your followers a better year in 2021! Cheers!
Great shot of the tree leaves reflecting on the surface of the coffee.
Great to see. Just what we needed in these strange times. Thanks!
Enjoy your cup and your stay. It's all you need to gather yourself regardless of what's happening around you. Nature is our true home. Enjoy and be well.
Stay safe sending prayers and best wishes from across the pond in the US to you and your loved ones as well as all of Brittan.
"2020 is already a very strange year...heads-up, keep looking forward. One foot on front of the other... WWOOHHAA!!!" cabin burns down 🤣 Take care, matey.
@J130 G810 I think you're right on the first part. But I think this is just another bad virus that unfortunately, we have no immunity too or vaccine. It's happened many times in the past, it's just made exponentially worse because our planet seems so small now. I for one won't be taking the things that are really important in my life for granted anymore when this is all over. That's got to be a good thing 👍
@@smokeybarr the establishment and bourgeoisie plan on spending the lives of the proletariat in the millions to resume lining their pockets.
We, the working class, must not allow this to happen. Work strike, rent strike (arrange both on a building level first before moving on to being a city or county-wide movement of course, because one person going on strike just means one person quits their job) do not let them spend our lives for their own benefit!
BTW, my source for this is all the "let's just get everyone infected right now and be over with it" stuff those in positions of authority have been spewing. This disease kills 10-20% of the people who catch it that don't get medical treatment, and leave what appears to be permanent or long-lasting lung and heart damage in about 40% of those who survive it. The only reason it's mainly killed those over 80 to this point is countries have had to choose between trying to save grandma, or saving her grandkids who are themselves currently raising kids of their own.
This is not just "some overblown flu". I do not say this to panic you, but to tell you what to prepare for, and the machinations I see gearing up to grind us into a pulp if we are not prepared to stand against them.
Don't panic, be prepared, be _kind,_ and whenever and wherever possible, stay safe.

Oh yeah, back to the good stuff! Finally some origin videos which made me subscribe to this channel in the first place, I've missed those! Keep it up Mike, be safe you and your family. Thank you for sharing.
Solo overnight in the cabin is the most relevant now. Thanks for sharing your interesting video!
My daily exercise consists of walking and jogging through the countryside. Only come across some people riding horses today. Nature is the place to be. If you live a village or town then try get out in the country side, it's great for the mind. Would love to go fishing but I think I'll have trouble claiming that as my daily exercise or even going out for food 😂. Great video as always mike, just what we need when we're all stuck indoors
" If you live a village or town then try get out in the country side."
'Non-essential' travel is currently prohibited where I live, so we are not even allowed to go for a walk on our own in the forest. Potential fine of 400 Euros. I haven't been outside my apartment (except to put rubbish in the bin) for over a week.
I just love that little pallet cabin. I'm about to come over there and rent it from you and get away from all of this chaos. If I was younger, I most certainly would. It looks so peaceful. How are you, the wife and that new baby girl doing? I hope everyone is doing well. Hey where is our crispy bread that you cook in the oven of that little stove?
*ITS ABOUT TIME*
Been waiting for a pallet cabin vid for months!!!!
thankyou for making this video Mike...

We are in "lock down" here too. Plus we had a storm this morning too. It's weird with this Corana virus shutting things down the way it has.
Thank you for the video Mike, All the best to you and your family, stay safe and healthy. Cheers
