Caught in a Storm - 4 days solo bushcraft, camping in heavy rain, portable wood stove, canvas tent

- Got caught in a crazy storm on the last days of my winter bushcraft camping trip. Storm Ciara had passed the previous week or so. I was eager to get out but little did I know storm Dennis was on its way. When the storm arrived, I was already deep in the forest off trail for 2 days with lots of rain but no crazy winds. I opted to set my second camp on a raised part of a lake. No trees windward from me, just water, but also no shelter from the 70 mph winds (110 km/h). With the conical shape of my shelter and past experiences with my bigger tipi tent in previous storms, I felt optimistic that it would be ok in the wind.
First night of the storm I skipped dinner and held tight waiting for the worst part of it to pass. I had my stove with me and decided to put it to the test anyway, hoping the thing wouldn't fill the shelter with smoke or break. Impressively it did not, it kept me warm and cozy inside while the madness was picking up strength outside, the worst of it during the night. Crazy experience, but I must say I enjoyed it tremendously. The next day was spent gathering wood and cooking some nice food even though the storm was still lingering. New videos every week, thanks for watching! - Ric
OBS: If you want to practice unnecessary high impact bushcraft activities like shelter / fort building, cut living or dead standing trees, damage the nature in any form in Scandinavia, you need to have Landowner permission or own the land. Always observe local fire prohibitions and forecasts to prevent forest fires. Finally, don’t be a twat, always be respectful of the forest and it’s inhabitants, leave no trace.

Q&A
Where is this?
- Scandinavia
Can you share the location?
- No. Landowners don't want me too. You need permission to do some of the thing I do in the video.
Where did you get the food?
- supermarket wilderness
Where did the chicken come from?
- from an egg
Why don't you hunt your own food?
- plenty of dead meat in the supermarket. I prefer to observe the little wild life that is left,
and hunt if I really need to. But not for a youtube video.
How do you keep your food from spoiling?
- it’s freezing cold, the whole place is a fridge/freezer
Do you have a filming crew?
- no
Have you met bigfoot?
- no
Do wild life bother you?
- not if I don't bother them
What wild animals do you have in that country?
- wild boar, moose, linx, fox, hares, deers, squirrels, wolves, brown bears, martens, badgers, hedgehogs, reign deers, eagles, Ravens, owls etc..
Do you sell your paintings?
- Yes, link above - Zábava
Who else is watching this before bed?
🤦who said I m watching ??!
Me
Yup. Its help me to sleep better, dont know why?
H-HOW DID YOU KNOW?! o_o
Hahaha
It's funny, when I first started watching this video I got a little annoyed because the guy wasn't talking. But as I sat and watched I felt myself slowly surrender to the sounds of nature. And by the end of the video I felt so calm and peaceful that I didn't want it to end. I realized just how noisy my daily life can be and how we humans never stop thinking and talking! - I looked over at my cat and he was just sitting there too. Not talking, not worrying, nothing, just 'being'.... I learned something about myself tonight. Wonder if anybody else felt this way. - Peace, and thank you for this wonderfully artful video. Well done. :)
Thank you! Great introspective thoughts. That’s why I don’t talk in most videos. I get to feel calm and appreciate the sounds i came to hear, instead of hearing myself yapping. That’s the experience I want to share. 🙂
@@NagualeroArt I often think it would be great if there were two like-minded individuals like yourself who could take off into the wilds with one guy doing the trekking, whilst the other records it - and then vice-versa. You could both get the best of everything and still produce some great footage. Just a thought. But also, great, great videos, thank you!
👍
yes a couple of guys in Canada go pee and they have to explain what the heck there doing. When I watch and LISTEN to this program, I'm there.
I felt the same way! I even started dozing off a little, not cause I was bored, but because I was at PEACE! I don't get much of that with twin 2 year old babies right now...lol
Everyone who is reading this, I wish you a healthy, happy, and joyful life! ❤🙏
*_Hard to believe that such a man has truly departed from this world so soon. But he is forever immortalized through his love and work of bushcraft as he demonstrates it in these videos. Always there. Never forgotten. Traveling far but close by._*
Does someone know what happened to him?😢
I've always enjoyed watching his videos since I stumbled upon his channel .
I always saw my late dad when I watched him in the wilderness, cuz he also liked the nature, fishing etc.

Yup I was like tf is he doing? Then I clocked he was painting his camp. Then he showed it us & I was like wow he’s got vision & skills, because my vision trying to do that would look like a hot mess.
The quality and realism of that painting blew me away. Just the painting alone could have made a good CZcams episode.
It really is an absolutely gorgeous painting. He should sell it.

Not trying to be a jerk...it's an okay impressionist painting.

As a 75 year old who lost her Marine 11 years ago, I watch because this whole video reminds me of him. Watch any similar.
Patricia Barnhart I’m sorry for your loss, couldn’t imagine life without my other half.
From another part of the world, Hope all is doing well. Stay cheerful.
May you live a long and fruitful life
I loved my husband's stories at the end of any day he spent in the woods hunting or otherwise. He was an only child and his parents deceased, so I always wanted to be there for him even though I had my own busy career.
We primitive camped in our early married years because he loved it and it was an inexpensive venture. He was an avid deer hunter, but also a little boy by nature when in the woods. Had so much respect for whatever he hunted from the time he was a young boy. We were fortunate to grow up in the 50's where a kid could hunt farmland without boundaries. Thank you for your kind remarks..
thats sad
In 2018 I was bored with daily life. I bought a bicycle and tent, put in in a box, and flew from the UK to New York. Over the next 100 days, I cycled across the United States where I wild camped all along the way. Honestly, just sitting in the tent, at night, all alone with the cayotes howling around me, listening to the peace, it is to this day the greatest experience I have ever felt. We all need nature.
well done mate
@Pixies Ostrich Duster I would pick garages or Wallmart as my go-to camp in an urban environment. However, I pretty much always cycled to the outskirts. Truck stops were good too, especially Loves. Downside - the trucks have their engines running overnight and that can keep you awake. Honestly, you can find spots anywhere. Also, people randomly offer to host you - pretty much every other day someone offers. And finally, an app called 'Warmshowers'. Amazing at finding hosts if you fancy getting washed. I would also camp behind churches.
that was nice and I am looking forward to experiencing it myself
@Pixies Ostrich Duster same
That's wicked dude, it's what I want to do someday when life allows. Did you spend much time planning or just go for it?

Its so nice to take a break from people thinking they need to constantly talk. Just listening to nature is so calming and peaceful. Too much unnecessary noise around us daily

Brother Ric Nagualero, sure am going to miss you. Even though I can't venture into the woods like I used to.. This bloke went camping for 4 days on his own in the wilderness, painted a masterpiece, made some kebab skewers and spitroasted a chicken. That's a level of manliness one can only aspire to.

Alright, so this video pops up... and I'm noticing... the lush dense forest, proper camera angles, the choices made in equipment/clothing, the textures, colors and materials of equip/clothes... then old boy busts out a SWEET painting of the camp! Whole next level CZcams right here folks.

I enjoy how this whole video is silent with no narration ; just the sounds of nature and real man work. Just away from all the over populated world.

That painting was awesome. And the transition from the painting into reality ... WOW! This made me feel so relaxed. I'm jealous. I know it had to be distracting to your zen to set up cameras from afar and do al of that, but it certainly made for a relaxing video for me. The lack of talking and just hearing and seeing nature ... MAGNIFICENT. You sacrificed your own tranquility for mine. Thank you.
Yea the video win to make me fall asleep everynight.. Enjoy and felling peacefull
No silly commentary. Just survival and nature. Brilliant
This isn't survival, right ?! Bringing cheese, bacon and paprika, a space age tent, sleeping bag and gloves. Only thing 'real' is lighting the fire not with a lighter but with some space age sparkling thingy. Don't get me wrong, I super like what he does, but this seems in no way survival
Rombbb it’s modern survival
How is this "brilliant" ??? You people get too goofy with commenting..
