We demonstrate how to successfully rebuild the forks on a 2015 KTM 300 XC-W The process will be the same for multiple years and bike models with the WP 48mm Open Chamber Forks. It's always good to have your bikes specific service manual on hand to follow the procedures and have access to torque specifications. Couple of comments. Lower end thread cap screw. It works better if you start the cap off with the forks still assembled. Only a couple threads. If it hangs up later on... put the fork spring in, push down on it so it bottoms in the tube, and the threaded portion will come off.
Snap ring holding the fork oil seal in.
One end is notched and will come off. Other end isn't notched and won't come off !

Great video thanks. My preload adjusters didn't unwind the cap just came off in one but it hasn't effected anything. I also got away without any special tools (insulation tape to drive the fork seals and protect the seals over the bushing recess and drilled an old spanner with 4mm holes and used the drill bits to unwind the top cap) I used 600ml of oil in each fork leg (2010 ktm exc) and forks feels brilliant now 👌

    Hi,
I'm a Portuguese fan of your channel. Lots of practical technical information, and very well explained.
I have a KTM exc 450 from 2005, and I did this oil and seal change operation, without disassembling the fork base, just removed the spring, emptied the oil, cleaned it and filled it with new oil and seals. At the end of one of the forks, the clicker always rotates without stopping. I am going to address this problem but in the meantime I would like some opinion of yours about what I have done wrong, and possible damage that I have to pay attention to.
BTW, is there any video of changing the glass oil level check thing on these bikes? I have a smal leak there...
Thank you in advance, for your attention.
Come to Portugal for an adventure ride, i will show you guys the best trails.
