- The London Symphony Orchestra is deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Her Majesty had been the LSO’s Patron since her accession to the throne in 1952, continuing a long association of the Sovereign with the Orchestra and its players, stretching back to its formation in 1904.
The Orchestra is privileged to have hosted Her Majesty at many of its concerts and events - from opening the Barbican Centre in 1982, to hosting a gala at Buckingham Palace in 2015. The Queen was present at some of the most significant moments in our history and was a loyal and committed supporter of the orchestra throughout her reign.
The London Symphony Orchestra sends its condolences to the Royal Family at this sad time and joins the nation in mourning our much-loved monarch. - Hudba
Now THAT'S how you play the National Anthem. There was more in that rendition than could ever be put into words. Thank you, LSO.
Superb and so moving 🙏
It's a better National Anthem than The Star-Spangled Banner, because it's short and doesn't have excessively high notes. O, Canada is better still. But my favorite National Anthem, and it's not my own, is Advance, Australia Fair.
The rendition at Philip’s funeral was jolly good too.
The sadness in Sir Simon’s eyes and quiver in his voice says everything about how much HM meant to the LSO! 😢❤
We are very sorry to learn the loss of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, please accept our condolences to people of Britain.
A moving and elegant tribute from the London Symphony Orchestra . It truly is a dreadfully sorrowful day but tributes like this serve well to remind us of how much we had and how much we have , if only we recognise it and honour it, in tribute to our late and much beloved Queen Elizabeth. I hope that we can move forward into the new reign , supporting our new King and wonderful Queen Consort , just as Her Majesty wished for us to do . Let us never forget her unfaltering example of service , duty and honour and so again I say - support our King whom has so profoundly already as Prince of Wales, proven that he too carries and bears her values of service and duty .
RIP your Majesty, its been an honour to call you my Queen. Thank you for you endless service and devotion to your people. God bless you.
I , with enthusiasm, sang along when they played the tribute . Now, it will be referred to as "King" but in my heart and until I die, I will always remember it as "God save our gracious Queen"..........
Robert Kabatoff the lyrics were written for a King and in 1952 it must have been very strange for some people to sing it for a Queen, my grandmother was born during King George V reign, so there were 3 Kings and never
did say that she would always remember it as "God save our gracious King" it's normal for reigns to change
and we have King and Queen regnants and our late Queen wouldn't want to be singled out.the Monarchy isn't
about one particular Monarch, People will get used to singing it
Me, too!
My deepest condolences to the people of Great Britain for the loss of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. This was a magnificent, respectful and beautiful tribute to her. But I expected nothing less from the great London Symphony Orchestra! Beautifully done Maestro!! Bravo!!
That was absolutely amazing. I don't think I've ever heard it performed better. Thank you.
yep ...and the speech too, really the simplicity and sincerity of the words do honor to this orchestra
Great I'm now crying. 😭
Prayers for the orchestra as you mourn the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II.
Perfect. Thank you Sir Simon.
I sincerely express my condolences to all the English people on the death of your queen. She was a good and bright person, she wished prosperity to her people. Her reign was an entire era. I am writing from Ukraine.
Thank you for your comment. I'm sure I'm not the only one who appreciates it, especially coming from Ukraine where you have your own troubles for which of course you are constantly in our thoughts. The Queen was an amazing person as well as our Queen and monarch not only of England, but Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland as well, and head of the commonwealth too. We had to share her just as her children had to share their mother with their countries. I hadn't realised what an impact and presence she'd been as one of the constants in my life and on her death I find all sorts of things popping up for me as I think many others are finding too. I've finally been able to grieve my Granny (memories of her taking us to see changing the guard at Buckingham Palace when we were young) is just one example and the Queens words coming from beyond the grave over the past week, as well as the reminders of the amazing things she accomplished with her 'soft power' as they call it, are truly inspirational. She is being missed not just in the country of England, but it seems in all those countries she was Queen in, and also countries where she brought her influence to bear such as Ireland (Eire). I recall her shaking hands with someone who'd been associated with the IRA. I couldn't understand that at the time. Then I read Timothy Knatchbull's words which I stumbled across, and started to change my view and understand things a bit. He has written a book now which I intend to read. I feel incredibly sad today yet also glad and thankful for the words she spoke during her lifetime, and for her interest and support for those things that are eternal. My thoughts are also with HM King Charles 3 as he starts his new job. And yes this is a lovely tribute to HM the Queen isn't it? I read that King Charles played not only Cello at his university but also learnt trumpet at his school, so as first of our royals to attend a school I hope music will now gain importance in the education of children in the British Isles. Thank you for your message and wishing every support to you in the Ukraine. I hope peace will come soon.
@@jenniferreesdavies3353 Thank you for your words and wishes, I wish you and your people all the best.
Thank you for your kind words. May God Bless Ukraine and it's people.
Jennifer Rees Davies: We’ll said Jennifer. You handled the “England, English” thing very well, especially since your name suggests you are from Wales? … which I am also. Doesn’t particularly bother me being called “English”, though I suspect the Scott’s would be up in arms (can’t blame them). Don’t mind anyone from Ukraine making such an error because it’s not that relevant when you are fighting for your life - all support and admiration for them under attack! Can’t believe what they are going through……
The finest for the finest.
Absolutely beautiful! Her Majesty will be forever in our hearts!
A great woman, a great personality, an institution in the world has died. Her tenure shaped generations like no other monarch. A long life and a long burden now lies behind her. Rest in Peace Elizabeth II.
My deepest sympathy to the Royal Family and to the U.K. she was a beautiful lady and a wonderful inspiration to all of us, I know she will be greatly missed.
R.I.P Queen🙏
May Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II rest in peace
May the Queen rest her soul in peace 🙏
A superb and moving tribute by Sir Simon and the LSO. Thank you for posting this. The late Queen represented so many qualities that have, for the most part, disappeared from our society these days. A symbol of faith, hope, and courage in adversity; not just personally, but nationally and internationally. Her selfless devotion to her family, nation, and Commonwealth, shone as a beacon throughout her long reign. Her patronage of the arts will be handed on into the safe hands of her eldest son, King Charles the Third. Long live the King and long live our London Symphony Orchestra.
Most of the Queen's patronages pass from Monarch to Monarch,
@@lsmith9249 Yes! I know that!
R.I.P Her Majesty the Queen - We will all miss you! ❤
May Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth rest in peace🕯
Prayers from China 🇨🇳🇬🇧
Good one Simon. That shows everyone how any National Anthem should be played.
My deep condolences to people of Britain. Rest in God’s hand, Queen Elizabeth 🥺😭🙏
Sir Simon Rattle's words are moving, I regret not having seen and expressed it earlier.
Thank you very much and our best wishes.
She, but passed me by, yet I love her until the day I die. Thank you for your service Queen Elizabeth II
Deep condolences on the passing of the Queen. May she rest in peace. Great musical tribute from a great Symphony Orchestra.
Thank you very much for this words and this music!!!
With many greatings from our Island La Palma!!!
👑 One of the most important & extraordinary women that has ever lived. 70 years on the Throne. A lifetime of exemplary service. Head of State, World Leader, Head of the Commonwealth, War Veteran, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Thank you Your Majesty for your service to your Country, and to the World. Thank You! 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Wow, you consider having children and grandchildren a merit? This is a speech to say the least shameful for a female figure. She was an aristocrat and therefore a privileged one who has no merit other than being born into the right family.
@@fiacchi that really is so untrue. Have you any knowledge of the things she did, the things she said, the comfort she brought to people in their time of need. It was the Queen who visited Grenfell Tower with Prince William and did so much good there. She was a truly brave and courageous woman though I might be glad she didn't get to drive me around her estate as I can be an anxious passenger. I really hope you will find out about some of the amazing things she did. She was not just a Queen Mother Parent Daughter Wife. She was a person, small in stature but with great spunk. I hesitate to say rather like her dogs, but she has my utmost respect. If I were half as courageous as she has shown herself to be I would be well pleased. Sir Simon and LSO, I have always enjoyed your performances especially the live ones and thank you to all those who took part including those behind the scenes for this video. I will share it with my overseas friends.
@@jenniferreesdavies3353 I don't care :)
Luckily we don't have anymore a king in our country. That's a great thing we achieve.
@@fiacchi our late Queen was a fantastic head of state and in 70 years always served her country
corruption is a major problem in your country
@@fiacchi so tell use how many heads of state have you had in your country during your lifetime, and tell us what great things they each has done and just why you are proud of them? It's a simple request considering you choose to dishonour her late Majesty and those she served, I will you full response with interest.
RIP Her Majesty
Rest In Peace our gracious Queen Elizabeth II god save our king.
May you rest in peace, Queen Elizabeth II 👸

@@hans-christianhofmann1679 You are delightful.❤️
@@sylviaroberts8103 Sylvia, certainly not half as much as you are😊❤. Sorry for my actually very limited knowledge of your language...
@@hans-christianhofmann1679: No … your English is great. Her majesty was a wonderful Head of State for this country and, as you mentioned, her much-loved Commonwealth too. In this country we’ve been able to comfort each another on our loss by sharing our thoughts on social media etc and that does help. However, it’s the sincerity and generosity of feeling from people of other countries who send their condolences that really hits home. The kindness of people such as yourself is what brings an extra tear to the eye because the sentiments are so kind, so sweet, so endearing and, really, SO appreciated.
May the Queen Rest In peace. Greetings from Italy

What a beautiful tribute. Thank you.
Beautiful tribute.
Thankyou for such a moving rendition.
well done how wonderful thank you for the music
British history can be gathered by three women, the beginning, the height and the end. Elizabeth I, Victoria and Elizabeth II. It is these women whom reigned in each case 'for ever' that have given a little island the nation its place in the world.
RIP Majesty of London
They brought me to tears..hearing the anthem. You can feel it was different
May her majesty may rest in peace
Rest In Peace, HM Elizabeth the Second
Beautifully played. An intense time of literal and symbolic change. Indeed not only for the UK nation also via Her Majesty’s postwar symbol that echoed through entire world like a restrained widow. Whether people accept it or not something has shifted via her death. God save the King.
Well said Sir Simon
This is just heartbreaking.
Well done!!💔
