    THANK YOU FOR MAKING VIDEOS LIKE THIS. Also you're hilarious and I love that your videos aren't overly edited. You're just being your own (somewhat goofy) self and it's so refreshing. This is what good vlogging used to be. And your reactions and tests are the best way to get unbiased and unhindered detailing product information for my mobile detailing business...BOOM

    Great video Jon. A lot of time and effort put in. I 100% agree with you on this. I prefer a 6-12 month product. I enjoy detailing my car and between 6 and 12 months I want to be doing a full decontamination detail, polish and fresh protection coating.

    I applied tac moonlight back in September based on your recommendation and all I can say is thank you. My black car has managed to look good and shiny till now. It’s done an incredible job of keeping water spots away too. My only complaint is that the little pump on the bottle has stopped working, but it’s not a big deal since I don’t apply it by spraying anyway. It’s much easier to apply than something like the TW ceramic stuff

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 3 lety +2

      I would not spray this stuff around seb. use the nipple applicator like you see on mine. this stuff sets hard like ceramics and it will set in the triggers..

      @@ForensicDetailing , sure, Jon. I put it straight on the ultra plush microfibre cloth created by virgins and apply it that way. It was either this channel, or another detailing one, where I learned ages ago about the dangers and waste of spraying stuff like this around. I did use the trigger but only to spray it straight into the cloth and it set like you said. It was actually your video from a few years back about moonlight that got me to try it. Thank you for this channel, even though my garage is starting to rapidly look like yours, but at least I only have 1 flex charger.

  • @roscopervis
    @roscopervis Před 3 lety +7

    Thank you for the results. It is kind of what I expected, though KC Nano did poorly, so strike that off the list.
    What it has shown to me, especially looking back at the original comments is how many people thought the Turtlewax products were gonna be top 3. That is interesting because they think that product is more durable than it is because of bottle claims and because of its very high short term chemical resistance, which almost all think is the same as durability. As this video shows, it isn't!
    It also shows that people clearly don't actually know how durable the products are on their own cars. It is highly likely any water behaviour seen from products like Turtlewax/Collinite/BSD after a month or so is from the toppers being no doubt used, with the base product much less strong than they think and argue.
    One final thing to see if I'm not going mad - BSD and PNS for me are severely degraded by alkaline products (Autofoam in particular). Not for telly, but for knowledge, could you run a side by side of one of them hit with 5% Autofoam and a pH neutral product to see if it is just me and a few others?

    Great video! I've had Fusso Coat on my 330ci for over 12 months now and it's still beading like a champion. She is a garage queen so that helps but I've hit it multiple times with heavy degreasers, dish soap, you name it. Nothing. Wanted to ceramic coat it but honestly I won't bother. I'll just reapply Fusso and gloss up a bit more with BSD.

    Great update mate. 👍
    This is a timely video.
    I had cause to polish a rear panel last week. New car.
    Once done I loaded some Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic spray to match the rest of the car. (Weather’s been rubbish so easiest to do for now).
    When I’d done that, I sprayed water over it to test and it was beading far less than the rest of the car. A little head scratching and then I realised. It beads so well because I wash with Autoglym UHD shampoo.
    The difference is gob smacking. UHD shampoo throws the water off like crazy.
    To me this proves, as had been said time and time again, a clean car is the best car. 👍👍
    Keep up the great work matey boy. 👏👏👏👏

Having since watched your ‘last man standing’ video where your Moonlight was ‘off’ (5years), your comments here regarding shelf life and volume struck a cord with me. I think this of a lot of my products, they come in too big a bottle/tub for the ‘home detailer’ who wants to try new things. The danger is you end up with a shelf full of half used products. I like for instance that BH do their Finis wax in a 50ml tub, that’ll be my next to try. Why don’t more brands do this?! Is it not cost effective (same packaging needed, same shipping, small retail price) or do they maybe want to keep you ‘hooked’ to their product (or away from others)?

      Just my two penneth; I’ve fallen back to C2V3 then topped with Vonixx Blend spray, durable base topped with insane water behaviour. I had an epiphany on looking in the garage cupboard, loads, and I mean loads of products; the majority 98% full after a single use and discard. So, I decided to stand back, tired of spending out month on month on the latest fancy sprays etc only for them to join the collection. Had a mad cull and gone back to what suits my paint and application and I’m far happier with the results unlike my credit card company. Nowt against what Jon does or any host [as Jon mentions happy to hit something like Moonlight and top with a shine wax as and when] but believe it is more important to have a very regular and practiced safe wash & touchless drying routine, even if just dust and watch the water behaviour to judge re-application / top ups. Happier with my hobby and have more disposable for “care” type, trusted products rather than just the latest.

    Wow Angelwax's fifth element just 3 months... Let's hope it's like you said and not the usual performance of it? I applied Enigma on my car and i also can't believe it'll stay on for 12 months or more, now after 3 months it's already showing signs of losing hydophobic behavior. Can't imagine using enigma shampoo and enigma QD would add months of extra durability? What do you think Jon?

    Here's a question for detaillers, I detail my car and always give it a good protective coating for the winter but I have noticed that there is always beaded water sitting on my car where my next door neighbours car is bone dry long before mine will be and they do not do anything to their car. This means at night when it freezes I end up with a thick layer of ice on my car which only gets thicker if left while my neighbour does not suffer this to the same degree. It just seems like my detailing efforts are making things worse rather than better.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 3 lety +1

      lots of people talk about beading causes issues for them with water spots. but hydrophillic products get slated because they look dead.. its a bit like emporers news clothes :) people slate jetseal for example as not lasting long.. but its acyrlicic polymer which is not hydrophobic.
      Perhaps something like jetseal would be cool for you. try it because it glosses up the paint nice.

      you are the only person that can answer this question :) You decon if you have contamination to remove right, so who can tell if there is contamination to remove. ONLY YOU because I cant see or touch the car. you have to check this and decide. you dont apply a base line product like moonlight on top of a contaminated car. Same principle applies with the state of paintwork. you polish a car if the paintwork looks bad and you want to remove swirls and gloss it up. Who can see the paintwork and decide, ONLY YOU. you have to decide and answer these questions. this is a FUNDAMENTAL thing people dont understand and I get asked it hundreds of times a week. This means I should probably shoot a video on this. So I will explain it more on the channel.

      its a long answer unfortuetly there are temp requiresment with coatings.. typically go sub 5 deg and the carrer wont flash. so most normal single layer 1 shot coatings could be applied outside at certain times of the year anyway.. but its all about risk or poor results, risks can be controlled and are small but consequences to poor results can be very high with ceramic coatings. to remove a poorly installed coating properly could be days of work. but there are coatings which cure faster and are more suited to use outside but even these cannot be used in all scearios.
