    Monte is the best. Several instructors claim to have a simplified approach to the swing but non deliver like Monte. I purchased some of his video series (incredibly inexpensive). The no turn backswing gave me the perfect backswing and the broom gave me the downswing move I needed.

    This is brilliant. The idea of holding onto radial deviation and palmar extension in the trail wrist to maintain lag and send that lag towards an 'aim point' several inches on the target side of the ball - because that's where we want the bottom of the arc to occur (golf machine stuff) has screwed up countless golf swings. (including this commenter). The idea of sending the center of mass out and up behind as Monte describes is pure gold. It's not unlike Chris Como and Trevor Immelmann's description of throwing an axe behind you. It's great to see things like gears, hack motion sensor, etc clear up these misconceptions from a science standpoint. But, using a broom is something anybody can do to learn the proper hand path from the top and create a 'flat spot at the bottom' and unlearn that overly angular motion. Great stuff. Keep the good videos coming.

    Another great video! I tried and loved incorporating the arms in the down swing at the driving range today. My speed went up without forcing anything. I could feel the the club head more when I was working the ball. On the last note, you can tell in a flash if you are connected or not in the down swing transition.

    I like this guy Monte. Good lesson here. I like this lesson because he’s not teaching to open the hips right off the top. So many guys teach you cannot turn too much - that is not true. And Monte teaches to use the arms. I am a “hands and arms” swinger, because I get stuck using too much hip turn too soon. And the “back to the target” discussion - I like it.

    Good to hear from Monte . And once again he basically tells everyone to calm down and look at things rationally. That the hips move first in the downswing ahead of the arms by .2 seconds is all anyone should need to understand. I was on the course the other day talking about this to a player. I stood there and purposely didn't move my hips in the downswing. At least I tried to. I was promptly carted off the playing field in a stretcher.

    • @alg7096
      @alg7096 Před 2 lety +1

      What he’s sayin is you shouldn’t be tryin to hit down on it. If you do you will over do it. Hitting down the RIGHT amount is achieved by good arms and body sequencing and a good setup. You most likely need to think arms and club to start the downswing while the body waits even though that’s not what will really happen. But sending Monte a video would definitely be the smartest move to make

  • @thomasfraser9072
    @thomasfraser9072 Před 2 lety

    So which is it that starts the golf swing? The arms or the lower body? The answer is nether. Stepping down with your alternating feet on the ground to produce ‘Ground Force Reaction‘ both on thé backswing and then the downswing to finishes the golf swing. If you know how to walk then you can swing a decent club.
    For the backswing simply use the trail foot to side step your rotating bent body as you are pulling the club head around your body with your hands and arms. For the downswing simply do a side stepping with your trail foot and push the club as hard as you like with your hands sweeping through the ball to the finish of your well balanced swing. End of lesson
    Follow these simple directions and feel the greatest in your own swing. At 74 I know I am. Thank you Dr Kwon. Cheers😃❤️👍⛳️

    The only problem is that my wife is now looking at me like a lunatic swinging a broom in the living room.

  • @Eric-zk2hu
    @Eric-zk2hu Před 2 lety

    Being steep is swinging down and then trying to change the direction of the force of the club swinging to hit the ball forward. So sweeping is swinging forward not down. So you get from the top of the backswing where the club is back and up to just swinging forward by shifting your pressure to the left foot which tilts your spine away from the target and lowers your right shoulder under your left which lowers the club without you swinging it down. Then by side bending to the right you are angling your body to swing the club forward at the right shaft angle to swing thru and make solid contact. So you are shifting your weight and angling your body to swing forward with the club swinging at the swing plane. Imagine the lie angle almost vertical like a pitching wedge with the ball in the middle of your stance but close only 3 inches past your toes but instead of hitting down you are shifting and side bending so you can swing forward not down but at that almost vertical swing plane.

      @@alg7096 I just dump all my wristcock because my left shoulder comes up prematurely. I’ve found trying to be steeper into it - only talking degrees - helps keep it down and keeping it down helps steepen the AoA. Funnily enough I present more loft than my super lagged normal strike, when successful. But it’s definitely a tendency of mine I think caused partly by lack of athleticism and balance. But make no mistake, shallowing out a seven iron that is only 1-2 degrees down is fat city for me.

  • @kukamaolen3669
    @kukamaolen3669 Před 2 lety

    Now monte is starting to find something huge. The sequence between hands and the body is the key. You must speed up the hands and let them go faster than your body. Its almost allways taught that lower body starts or hands and body go together but that is totally wrong. You cant start your hand too soon just like Monte says. But there are also something more to this session: hands have to go faster also after the impact, not the way Monte shows.
    When you start your hand first and let the clubhead go past your hands at impact area (Mike Malaska)and then after you start to add some speed, eventually the clubhead starts to go more behind your body(it shallows). To compensate this shallowing move you can then start opening your body and that is the way you are not coming too much from inside anymore and you have a looks of a perfect golfswing. Even if you open your body, the hands go much faster than your body. In the slow mo it looks like they go with the same speed but that is not the truth. The chest moves a lot shorter circle so it doesn’t need to move the same speed than hands.

    I think it gets the golfer into doing more of what the arm swing looks like for better golfers. Problem is that if the arm swing/pivot/tricep extension isn't there, the golfer will overfold the right arm and they're cooked. OTT-City.

      Yeah. More and more I’m thinking right arm width is really the key. The idea that punching (triceps extension) force feels powerful, destroys a ton of swings.

    • @richiehunt5097
      @richiehunt5097 Před 2 lety +1

      I think the right arm is so key in the swing. A lot of what Jim waldron explains in the Arm Swing Illusion cleared some things up for me. I think being able to protract the lead scapula and being able to 'push away' the butt of the club from the body with trail wrist radial deviation and wrist extension is about more than half of the battle alone. If you get those down, you cannot over-fold the trail arm and then you can un-fold in time and never have to worry about being too steep in the downswing.

    What this basically does is encourage an inside swing instead of a outside swing. Isn’t this another way of illustrating an “inside approach”? By swinging under a swim noodle you would encourage a shallow swing instead of “V” shape. Here is the issue, you can come too inside which can cause a push. This is just another method of addressing swing path. Try to accomplish a center hit high on the face using an iron with a steep swing and it will be very difficult to get the low point in front of the ball.

    • @alg7096
      @alg7096 Před 2 lety

      Actually you can come right down your target line with the drill too. This drill can fix a really bad inside out push due to the arms gettin stuck behind your body. Monte has given tons of lessons to all levels of golfers and he clearly states most would benefit from this drill. You are clearly not equipped to critique him based on your post. That’s the thing about people tryin to talk over their heads about the golf swing. They really stick out and expose their ignorance. That would be you and your post. Do you really think you know more than Monte??? 😂

    Another dud drill, go back to A.J. Boner, he knows, and it's proven that, hand eye coordination is the main driver of the golf swing, pushing a broom in slow motion to replicate a good sequence will do nothing, because it's done consciously, in the golf swing the bodies motion is a reaction driven by the subconscious part of the brain to what the hand and eyes have perceived as the task at hand.
    All this drill will do, is make you a more efficient sweeper, lol.

      Problem is their perception of the task is wrong, that is WHY they go over the top.
      No drill will be of any use unless they change their task to the correct one.
      This is a huge problem with golf instruction, there is a REASON why, a huge problem with Golfers is 'coming over the top', it is a conscious decision, and unless you work out why they are doing it, the problem will never be solved, just applying 'fixes' to the problem without knowing why it happens, is futile and is the reason that You Tube has been filled with 'fixes' for slicing for the last decade and they are still coming.
      Here's an analogy, a plane falls out of the sky and eye witnesses state that the wing broke off, so the it is decided to attach an extra set of wings to all that model of plane to fix the issue.
      Of course that would never happen, there would be a thorough investigation of WHY the wing fell off, but this is NOT what happens in golf instruction, people come over the top, Pro's apply a myriad of 'fixes' without knowing what caused the 'over the top' motion, and rinse and repeat.
      No one solves a problem that way, except in Golf instruction.
      People are giving THEMSELVES the task of coming over the top, no one has ever been trained to do it, there is a reason and no amount of drills or fixes will work until they work it out.
      Once you know WHY you are coming over the top, it's an easy fix and the game gets a lot easier.
