Dang dude, that was helpful and quite comprehensive! Thanks, subscribed!
Good one Steve. We're looking at getting 2 ceiling fans from Costco that are smart for echo or google, have tunable white LED lights and are 54" for $150. They're not Hunter, so we'll see how long they last. We have another fan for our covered porch that is not smart so I might want something like this for that one, we'll see, our house is still being built and isn't even roofed yet, so I've got time to continue figuring things out....
Well darn. It was a great video, but I had already figured out most of that. What I was having trouble doing was programming reverse for voice control. I finally bit the bullet, and used the Oscillate button.. I have to say 'Alexa ... Oscillate the Gameroom Fan', but it works. I suspect that was the purpose of the Oscillate button, but google translate didn't get it quite right when they programmed the fan option at Broadlink.
Since I have a 6 speed fan, I set the speeds Low, Medium, and High to 1, 3, and 6.
Finally, like you, I put the light on a different device that was a light only, and just named it the Gameroom Light.
That seems to be the best I could do with it, and it's a ton better than walking upstairs to turn it on and off.
What is the coverage for the RF portion?? I.E.: How many rooms/walls can it go through and still work??
Wow ..I'm a fan now 👍👍👍👍👍
good one!! :)
Is bond and broad link about the same with functionality?
Thanks for the video Steve. I have a question. The word on the street is it needs direct line of sight to IR devices. What has been your experience? I don't want to spend $50 to just control one IR fan. I have a second RF fan that would probably work too. Thanks again.
This is great!! Just ordered one!! Can you do a video on setting up this device for Android Boxes and Smart TV to work with Alexa? Thanks!!
Yea, I agree.
Does it work with older Hampton Bay AR552? I tried with another SmartLife vendor and it did not.
I have ceiling fans that are hard wired to a light switch. These still work?
Will it be able to control the fan in different floor? Currently testing bond bridge and it is not working once I move the bridge to different room
Steve, Do you have idea if this device is going to work in India & one thing more as the device says it works between 315 to 433 frequensy but your Fans working on 434 mhz, Can you please get some time to clear my queries as I have some Fans that have RF remote & I really wanna use them with Google Assistant, Thanks in advance
Does this hub have to be in the same room as the devices it is controlling? If we want to use this for ceiling fans & lights in 2 different bedrooms could this be placed in a common area outside the rooms and it still work for both?
for devices with IR frequency it needs to see the connected device, for RF frequency no need to the device directly
Amazon has a wifi ceiling fan remote that sells for $29 dollars. It's easy to install and works great. You can control you fan ,your fan light and your fan speed thru an app or the remote and thru an alexa device. You don't need a hub either!
Does this work better than the bond remote? I wasted $100 on the bond as it quits working with alexa soon after setup.
Was this a dc or ac motor fan?
What's the range of the item? Do you need 1 in each room?
I need help adding my Hunter Ceiling Fan IR remote.
Can I just control with my phone with some type of app?
Anything like that’s compatible with home kit
I can't find the MHz I my universal control what do I do?
What if your remote doesn’t have the frequency on the back? Is there a way to bypass this?
Great & great product. I use a similar controller called “Bo
From “BOND” that works with Alexa & SmartThings. I can control the speed & lighting, just can’t reverse the blade rotation thru Alexa. Thru SmartThings I have an automation setup that when it hits a certain temperature the fan comes on, works great!
@@dankelley9361 That's sweet!
BEWARE, THE BOND BRIDGE ONLY WORKS WITH 2.4 GHZ, NO OTHER WAY. BOUIGHT IT WASTED TIME, RETURNED IT.
No frequency on back - is there another way to find that info?
8:00
What if I turned off Alexa and then when I finish adding the buttons and turn it on back and then if it didn’t learn we can do it manually in Alexa app
Will this work?
how about adjusting the speed of the fan
If you can do it with the remote, then yes.
SO I just bought this. I tried to plug into TV (USB) but it wouldn't work. I then plugged into a computer, but that doesnt stay on all the time... Where should it be plugged into?
BOND SYSTEM ONLY WORKS WITH 2.4 GHZ INTERNET, NOT 5 GHZ AT ALL. BOUGHT IT RETURNED IT.
if your fans wont work with rf or ir, don't waste your time. MY HINKLEY (VERY EXPENSIVE FANS) will not wotk with IR or RF
