Playing with Scofield was obviously the most legendary and successful time for him...and for me it was the unexpected and last discovery of that kind of drummer ,in the last era of real Jazz-Rock-Fusion in the late 80's !

I use to call Dennis Chambers a M.F. because he one insulted me a workshop that he was doing. I have sense gotten over that moment and now all I can say is that this man is one of the baddest drummers of all time. His interpretation of King Kong drumming is almost impeccable. I don't think anyone except David Garibaldi does it better. If I was going to practice to anyone's style it would be his because you can hear everything that he's doing!!
Hi, Phil Spigner. I seen him at a clinic as well. His attitude and demeanor was less than acceptable. At first I was really let down. He even made a few mistakes. This was about 7 years ago before his health scare. Later on that day, I realized that I got to witness Dennis on an “off-day”.A rare thing to witness. I’m still not sure what to make of it all but he is undoubtedly one of the best when it counts. Im still glad I got to see him
I knew he had talent the moment he reached up to itch his ear and used his other hand to complete the high hat stroke with the other hand ..

KugiPanchi the album version on “pick hit live” absolutely blew me away back in the day. I transcribed the intro. Dennis | Grainger is just inimitable. Dennis created this funk style.
