I have the same car. Just not the sun roof. I love it. Extremely reliable!!! When your young like me (23) it’s the most important thing a car can offer. I’ll take reliability over flashy any day.

Just being able to jump into a car and start it and not worry about what might go this week, that in itself is the best aspect of a car. Plus when you're young your car should make you money not cost it lol.

i've never owned a Corolla, but iam familiar with Toyota vehicles. i had an 99 Toyota Camry LE as a hand me down, when i got my license in 2009 when i was 17. it had 253,000 miles before i traded it in 2011 for a 2005 Honda Civic EX, but boy what a mistake that was. it was ok at first, but then it started to have transmission issues. so i ended up trading that Civic for a 2010 Toyota Tacoma in 2013. it was a good truck, but i needed a second car for better gas mileage and it was a toss up between the Elantra and the Camry. so i went with the 2018 Camry, and after a month and 10 days that car has been. excellent. my wife has the new Subaru Impreza as a her daily car.

just gave a 04 corolla to my grandma (got a new car) its a wonderful car, cheap as all hell to own, not likely to have many mechanical problems (pretty cheap to fix if there is) and should last your a VERY long time if well taken care of. A wonderful car for a budget.

Bought a corolla 2007 ce at 256000Km a year back. Going at 280000Km now, still runs smooth and quiet. Changed front shocks, belt, alternator and battery so far. No major repair. Runs like a charm! Simply a big fan of toyota!

  • @joshuaecht

The 1ZZ-FE is an efficiency monster; it is tuned for low-rpm torque and economy. Great engine. It's cousin, the 2ZZ-FE, is the high-rpm screamer. BMW did the same thing in the eighties with the eta engine in the 5-Series! I'm a Vette guy too and the torque off the line with the Corolla up to 30 mph is impressive. You can burn rubber with it a little bit; it does die above 5k but has a 6250 rpm redline. In a way, it reminds me of the same concept of the C4's L98 V8, the screaming small-block 350, as both have long intake length runners for low-rpm torque.

I got a 2005 Toyota Corolla S with a 5-speed manual transmission in 2016 for about $2500. I love this car. Though, I wish it had bluetooth, a better radio, a better sound system, and some more comfortable seats. I think I will keep this car for life. Very low maintenance. I change the oil every 5K miles with Mobile 1 Synthetic motor oil, even though supposedly I can do 10K-15K miles in between oil changes with the synthetic stuff I’m using. It currently has about 160K miles on the engine.
I would like to get a brand new Corolla imported from Japan and have it be RHD with a 6-speed manual transmission.

I never had a single problem except when I hit stuff, just cosmetic stuff hahaha.... I din’t even know that I have to change oil hahaha, din’t do oil change for several years lmao....I only changed my tires after 11 years and I don’t even remember putting air in it haha, wipers 2x, battery 2x - never really died I just think I had too from seeing other people do it and being scared of my car not starting hahaha... only major issue for me after 15 years of neglect is squeaking noise from the belt that was fixed right away after changing it.... and I do change my oil now hahaha.... I so badly want to buy a new fancier car and I said to my self - if my Corolla don’t start even once, I’ll buy a new one and it’s been several years and I still can’t buy a new one because it never fails ever lmao... not the cutest but more reliable that my friends/family luxury cars....

Still the best Corolla's IMO. I bought a new silver 2006 Corolla S back in 2005 which was the first car I bought fully loaded with everything. Really nice car with no problems, but had to eventually get rid of it cause I needed more space. I now drive a 2015 Camry XSE V6 which is better & has been very reliable like my Corolla was, but sometimes miss my Corolla & I still see a lot of them on the road. 6 speed transmission is known as the C60 transmission and it can be found only on the Corolla XRS from 2005 and 2006, also the XRS does not have the regular 1ZZ-FE engine found in CE, LE and S Corollas, it brings the 2ZZ-GE instead which has 175 hp compared to the 130 hp from the 1ZZ and it also has Lift, which is a system somwhat similar to Honda's VTEC.

Correct. Although 1ZZ-FE can rev to 6250 or thereabouts, its powerband is happiest (once warmed up) between 2-4k total. It's a torque monster down low and the 1.8 produces decent torque for its size. The old Chevy Cavalier LN2 2.2 operated the same way--quiet and torquey up to about 4k, then it buzzed.

I had a 2002 Toyota Echo sedan with 255k miles, for some reason that car had a lot of pep, even when I loaded 600 lbs. in the car. I've never had a car that quick, around town at least. I want another Toyota so badly.

$15 buck cuz gas price was $1.59 per gallon when he review this car, not like nowadays when it's over $2.00 so if it takes your over $20 to fill up is adequate.
