I don't have a stove, hot plate or oven. I sold em to buy several sous vide circulators, a blast chiller, liquid nitrogen, and a commercial grade coffee grinder. Is it possible to do this without a stove or hot plate? Is there a way for me to heat the oil using the items I sold my stove for? Please help. Thanks you. Love the videos. I've learned so much about the right way to cook.

foshastajones Fire up a zip lighter and immerse it in the oil. Let it heat the oil until it's 180 degrees - voilà!

Here's a tip for a fluffier batter. Whip up the egg whites and fold it into the batter. Makes the world of difference.

I don't even eat pork but I can tell you I'll always gladly watch your videos, each one of them. Just love the technique you guys have and teach us at the same time, the precision which make your recipes so amazing, the quality of the videos, the music ... oh and you guys are super chill and funny !! I tried the original recipe today. I ate 4 of them back to back. With spicy mustard. Magnificent.
One thing I'll say is that it's probably better to have your oil too cool than too hot. I was well up over 400F and mine cooked in about a minute. This results in me putting them in the oven to try to finish them, yet they still have a creamy layer of batter in the middle. Still quite good, but a little weird.
