- Those of you who want to do this conversion should keep in mind that it requires 3 things for this swap to work. You'll need charging coils, new flywheel that comes with magneto points and a fan that fits that flywheel. Installing charging coils by themselves wont work so look for entire kit that includes complete setup. Good luck and thanks for watching.

The best part about this video was you and your Son doing it together
You did a great job with your son, he's gonna be one hell of a fabricator, i've been doing it for 43yrs and i'm always impressed with your builds..
b cap
Lol I highly doubt it but at least he’ll have good work ethic.
Kids nowadays are less interested in “hands on” type
of jobs and look for high tech careers. As long as he stays out of trouble, any career path is cool with me. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Cheers.
Sounded funny when you said
“You’ll have to use the Force to remove the flywheel
Lawnmower16 2012
Lol I was going to say use the force Luke but didn’t want copyright infringement on my channel. Thanks for watching and commenting.
This is a great tutorial. I want to do something similar like hook up a cigarette lighter socket. Should just be as simple as change the connection on the end. Brilliant. Thanks!
One can put two regular charging coils on these, and a 12volt 4 wire regulator and get brighter lights with higher output because it has a full wave rectifier.
This video is super cool and very helpful!!!...everyone that I talked to about wanting to put a headlight on my mini bike said that I needed a battery..
You should leave links the the products in the description, awsome father son build! Starting the monster moto 80 swap to the 212 predator with my 8 year old 🤙
Seems like such a fun little project!!! Killing it man 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
You learn something new everyday! Good to know, thank you sir. 💯👍
Nice video man. Was wondering how I was gonna run lights on my sons go cart! Thanks!
Great video, should have placed flywheels side by side for comparison. Wire up a tailight for the boy with an on/off switch for when he is out running johny law. Lol
Tip flywheel removal, take a brass hammer and give it one good wap to the end of the crank shaft. Usually comes right off.
You MUST put the flywheel nut on BEFORE hitting the crankshaft! That reduces any risk of damaging the threads.
Bala to answer your question yes predator sells these engines with charging coils already installed...there usually found on the engines for generators
Thanks for the video. helped set mine up as well!!
Good video brother. When I take a flywheel off one engine and put them on another I like to use lapping compound to make sure the surfaces are perfectly mated. Those things spin fast, it really reduces the risk of something going wrong.
Great video sir.. plan to put one of these motors on a minibike I just acquired..
SWEET!!! Father and son... doesn't get any better than that! :)
never even gave the hemi a thought being different, perhaps i should verify this by trying. glad it worked out
roger oconnor
Thanks to you I was able to successfully convert it and power the headlight. I’ve always wanted to do this swap but had to find a donor motor. According to other you tubers hemi engines are different but here in California they don’t even sell them due to EPA restrictions. We can only buy them online or go to Nevada to buy them. Anyways, thanks for watching and confirming that this swap will work. Cheers
I bought the hemi back when they were on sale for $99 and had no idea there were two different types.. just recently pulled it out to swap it on mb200-2 trailmster but in doing so I learned it was a hemi.. initially I was happy it was a hemi but now I'm lil worried after seeing non-hemi on many aftermarket items etc.. so I can't do this because I have a hemi version??? I'm lil confused now... do they make coil kits for hemi?
Wire in some taillights for safety ! Lol. I did on mine and it’s helped along with a brake light and switch .
@@nwnative4139 no I’m sorry I don’t but there are lots out there !
Great job guys!
Great video I learned a lot from it , great stuff 👍🤔😀
I always enjoy your video
dejo
Thank you sir for watching and commenting. Viewers like you inspire us to make more videos. Cheers.
Just did this with mine, it worked well and I'm happy to have light again and not use a headlamp
So how do get parts to do this
Awesome just the video I needed I didn't want to get a battery
Neat. Im trying figure out how to charge a motorcycle battery from a 79cc lifan. My phatmoto got lights, now just needs a charging system.🤔🍻
Flywheel and stator available from colemanpowersports, look under parts>Coleman ct200u-ex
Do you have a link to it? I can't find it
Can you give us a close up on the wiring?
I would have personally put the flywheel in a rust bucket to clean it off and then clear-coat it to keep it from rusting further.
Nice Job. You can wind your own coils, they're only a coil of wire.. Take an old one apart, unwind it, and count the number of turns it takes to remove the whole wire.. If ya rewind it with longer wire (more turns) you'll get more voltage.. if ya rewind it with larger gage wire, you'll get more amperage. .
either way = MORE POWER ! Then you can add a tail light, and fog lights,
ThomasTheSailor Chubby
Thanks for the tip. I’ll have to look into that. Cheers 👍
Thanks for that info ...I have hemi version and luv to make stuff work
When using two charge coils are they just twisted together as 1 positive point and then to ground after connection to lights? Or battery for electric start mod?
Thanks for this. I did this with the hensing engine to the predator. The predator worked well and have headlights. But the stock engine now won’t fit with the predator fan. I think the fans are different. Stock cover won’t go back on the engine with the predator fan
Love those Chondas
I like the builds
Great video!! Thanks.
Why do some have 1 coil with 1 wore and some have 2 coils with 2 wires? What's the voltage output of your charging coils you used?
Dose this work if the new motor I have is 196cc and the original one is 200cc
Thanks for the video! How many amps?
I have an original honda gx160 and i want to put charging coil in it to have a power source... Do i also need to replace the original flywheel? Will the charging coils fit with the original flywheel?
Where did you get that harness that goes to the charging coil to the light???
That so cool if find out how to get parts I'd love to know 😊
Nice work
Mik lalo
Thanks buddy. Glad you enjoyed our video.
Thank you Jude Vapes for the link. Is that all a guy has to add for lights? No flywheel swap?
He did swap the flywheel
No regulator ? How do you change the AC from the charging coils to work with DC , LED headlights?
There's a charging coils for these engines that is round, but for more than $100, but it has a high charging rate.
I was way to lazy to do all this, I just used a very slim 25v lithium battery from an electric skateboard. Works well lol just have to recharge the battery every two weeks or so
I use a small jump start box that you can buy for 50$ at walmart lol
Will the 196cc predator flywheel fit a 212 predator flywheel?
Was that a grounding point on the inside? I bought a kit but it did not come with a “ground” or did you just use one of the black wires?
Do you know if that flywheel is rated at higher rpms than the stock predator flywheel? .. since it seems it was used on H brand... I have one of those engines and I'm thinking of using it for same purpose only my predator has been gov deleted with better springs and flywheel
Amazing I was thinking about this! I made a battery tray incase just for options! I thought why not run a bike without a battery? You could! And some engine have these parts already as thiers to much work!
Kool video
Can the charging coils be ordered from the baja manufacturer
You dont mention what the old engine model is used of the donor horizontal shaft engine having those charging coils, What was wrong with the old engine, was it worn out? people most likely can get the whole flywheel and charging coils from like a Honda clone or a Briggs& Straton (whichever company has the Briggs now?) to match that flywheel as a complete pair from EBAY
Great video as always! Are you using the stock headlight bulb? It looks brighter than the normal stocker.
Yes, it was original stock light bulb. It’s just at higher rpm they tend to shine brighter. Thanks for watching and commenting.
What was the engine you took it off of?
Could you just run a light off of the kill switch?
I believe it would rob power from your spark plug.
What motor were you using parts off?
1 question, do the new mb 200 come with coils or are they powered differently
Coils
I think any Chinese clone engines are copies of engines that begin with “H” and no parts are actually shared or made in the same factory. Honda manufactures their own components (mostly) and has very high standards for the quality of each and every component that goes into their engines. The materials are better, the castings, machining, tolerances are tighter and much closer to their engineers design specifications. They have taken great care in the design, engineering and manufacturing of their engines. This attention to detail and adherence to their own standards of quality has earned Honda engines their now legendary reputation for quality, dependability and longevity. Chinese manufacturers have simply stolen a proven design that works to churn out in mass quantities. They prioritize quantity over quality and cut corners at every step, beginning with metalurgy and continuing all the way to assembly. As decent as predator motors CAN be, in most cases at least, they are not in the same league as Honda. I highly doubt you would find a Honda motor that didn’t run, right out of the box. This is not an extremely uncommon occurrence with the predators. Don’t get me wrong, they’re usually great for the money but they are one of the best examples of “You get what you pay for.” There’s a reason they are as low as 20% the cost of a Honda and it’s not because Honda is just greedy. I’ve heard people refer to Honda motors as “ridiculously overpriced.” It’s funny, I’ve never heard anyone refer to them as ridiculously over engineered, ridiculously reliable, ridiculously resilient, ridiculously easy to start or lasting a ridiculously long time. The most common issue with Honda small engines is the cheap Chinese replacement parts people buy, thinking they’re just as good. In Japanese culture, they’re not as concerned with ones trade as they are the craftsmanship of the tradesman. It’s honorable to take great pride in what you do and to always strive for perfection. You do so knowing absolute perfection is impossible. However, if perfection is always your goal, you will always be improving. This is how one becomes a master of their trade. Unfortunately, you have different philosophies and motivations while under the iron fist of a totalitarian dictatorship. I look forward to the day when China (and the rest of the planet) are free from the tyranny of those so desperately needing to feel in control. (Obviously they’re overcompensating for something they feel is extremely lacking).
Am i understanding that u have to use the old flywhel to make to charger coils work? And if u use the new predator flywheel it will not charge?
The inside of the regular predator flywheel does not have magnetic pick ups for charging coils. That's why it will not charge or work with original predator flywheel. They sell kit on amazon for 90 bucks and comes with everything.
Anyone know bolt size and length? ..10mm / 2 inch they look like...or 2.5’
Hi, I just bought ct200u-a with it stock engine (196cc) I need power distribution unit to generate electricity for all lights. Instead of buying exterior power unit or a generator for that matter , I need this installation. Like I said that I have the stock engine I do not know which flywheel to buy, please can you show me all 3 parts for to buy?

Thanks for the vedio. You have helped me in the past in building my baja bike. It's completed. Thanks for ur help. A quick question my baja bike has a handle with a coil spring on the top middle section of the handle bars which acts like shockers. Where can I get a handle frame like you where the shockers are at bottom of each end like tradition bikebir your bike. Also which can fit like yours on my baja bike. Thanks pl. Reply
Hello Randy. If i understood you correctly, you have the older style front fork and you would like to convert it to different shocks? heres a link to parts that you might need

balabay77 THANK you soo much. Where can I get the shockers for this fork handle pl
Oh ok in saw the linnk for the shocks THANK you
I wonder if a billet fly wheel will do the same
Question with the original fly will not work on the new charging cord. What I’m saying is I bought new charging coils and a rectifier, but do I need to also buy a new fly will
You’ll need a flywheel with magnets on the outside which produce energy for spark plug and magnets on the inside of the flywheel which produce electricity for your headlight. Original flywheel that comes from the factory only has magnets on the outside that’s why it won’t work. In other words, you’ll probably need a new flywheel if your motor isn’t pre-wired to supply electricity to your headlight. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Which flywheel fits the taper of the non hemi
The flywheel is off the Baja or you can get one off a CT 200u-ex. You can order the flywheel and stator from colemanpowersports.
6 volt or 12 volt?
I just did this swap n didn’t clean the inside magnets only the outside ones, will that cause a problem? N which wire goes to what?
Doubt dirt will interfere too much with the magnets. If the dirt were iron shavings and caked onto the magnets they would still function and have a strong magnetic field. Then again all depends on the kind of magnets they are and how old they are.
Do you know where I could find a front fork suspension like the one on your bike?
adrian archuleta
eBay or OMBwarehouse.com they also carry many new parts for mini bikes. Good luck.
What about a voltage regulator? You don't want lights dimming and growing bright with variations in engine speed.
He'd need to install a battery and a voltage rectifier to have a voltage regulator be useful. It isn't really worth the effort. All you would get is a headlight that is bright at idle until the battery drains itself to idle voltage.
I could argue that a voltage rectifier is a much more useful modification to make, converting the power to DC is easier on the bulbs, and DC power in general is more useful in this application, but even that's not necessary. There are thousands of these little Doodle bugs running away with AC power lighting the headlight. In the end doing nothing is probably best. No use modifying it, unless you wanted to run say an air pump, or a phone charger
Disculpa donde puedo conseguir las bobinas de luces para ponérselas a mi motor
Will a aluminum billet fly wheel do the Same or do we have to use the stock fly wheel
The reason why I used original flywheel is because it got magnets on the inside (to produce power for spark plug) and outside magnets (to produce electricity for the Headlight)
If your aluminum flywheel got both magnets than yeah you can use it to power your spark plug and headlight. Good luck
What was the old engine?
What kind of if engine did u get the coil from?
Can you power and led light bar on a go kart this way?
Brad Richards
I think you can power your LED lights but I’m not sure how bright or dim the light would be. You might need a voltage regulator for consistent light output. Let me know how it goes.
Thanks bro!
Might wanna use a regulator if your'e not using a governor otherwise you'll blow light bulbs every time you rev too high.
Looks like he just swapped the charging system from the old engine off the mini bike. System probably had one. But good advice for those of us thinking of adding a light to the system.
Do you think you can hook it up to a battery to charge the battery then hook it up to the lights
jewels -
I think there’s a way to do it but you’ll need a voltage regulator.
I am going to install a charge controller to the charging coil and then connect it to a battery then hook up the headlight and taillight. ( I found the parallel charging coil on ebay for $17 plus shipping.
did you ever complete this? link for coil?
I dont know how to send a link as of yet, but i am working on it. ( just type in the search box for the charging coil for 196cc coleman and it should take you straight to it.
Hey man. So I am thinking about doing this on my go kart and I found where to buy them. But then how do you do the wiring for the headlight?
Hey. Where do I buy the parts. Where did you find it ?
Now add a stop light and turn signals 😏
best option i found is to JB weld some super magnets on the inside of the flywheel it came with and i grabbed the stators off the engine that came with the BAJA.....total cost...15$
What magnets did you use? Does placement on inside the flywheel matter or just evenly space them? I havnt seen a link for a charging flywheel but the coil links below seem good. Someone should sell the fly wheels and coils as a package.
Ummm no..... Not balanced at all. You will eventually kill all your bearings.
Mine is running like crap but the light works, I didn't touch the coil at all but I didn't clean the rust. We'll see what happens.
Cleaned the rust off work like a champ
Is there a way to hook this to a battery to keep it charged?
Justin's Garage
I’m sure there is a way to hook it up to a battery but I haven’t tried it. If you find a way to do it share your info with others. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍
Yeah I think all you need is a 4 wire rectifier regulator you can get for 10 bucks on amazon.. It'll keep batt charging at 14.4v. If not enough voltage from regulator, could use a boost circuit to bring it up to 14.4v.
@@bwxmoto hmm sounds like a neat little project for a super capacitor.
Where did you get the flywheel
They used the one that came off the GX200 they pulled the charging coils from.
Can I use this to power a car radio
Can I use telekinesis to remove the fly wheel?

Lol you can definitely try. Good luck. 👍
What are those parts called to get power?

Жил бы ты по соседству то мы бы твой байк вместе забацали и прокатались бы с ветерком.
where to get coil and magnet?
Didnt you hear him? He didnt know and even asked us , the viewers to post a link in the comments to a store where we can buy the coil.
Did the predator come with magnets inside the flywheel? Or you swap the old one in the predator212
Vance mac D
Predators flywheels doesn’t come with magnets 🧲
That’s why I installed the coils and flywheel from that old engine. The swap was a success and everything still works.
@@balabay77 I had a Coleman motor brand new ran for 1 day then 212 non hemi swapped the bike and decided to get the headlight working I installed everything like you did in the video but my headlight won’t work I have people telling me to get a tree magnet flywheel then to buy new coil pack if you could give some advice that would help very much

Are the guys that want to do this kind of swap on a Hemi or any other Predator engine what you need to do is buy the charge coil kit and flywheel they're available through Generac and the aftermarket they're made specifically for generators but they'll work on your engine for lights and alternator end of the story
Perry Daniels
Thanks for chiming in and sharing info. Cheers.
Could you post a link for the charge coil and flywheel? I’ve searched and can’t find it.
William Boucher the other place I saw it was on Amazon and eBay as far as the link goes I don't know I was searching for other s*** when I found it, but try gopowersports first I think they'll help you. 👍😎
Perry Daniels that might be a good place to check, go power sports has tons of carting/ mini bike stuff.
Do you think u could run the wires from coils to a battery to recharge and just run the lights off a small lawnmower battery?
I’m not an expert in this field but you can certainly try, maybe you’ll be able to power headlights and charge the battery at the same time. Word on the street, this setup needs a voltage regulator to run everything smoothly. Let me know how it works out for you. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@balabay77 forsure man! Thanks for making the vid been wondering how I was gonna do. The regulator makes since. When I'm able to do it I'll get back to ya and let u know how it's working out!

What bike did you get the frame off?
Roman Sasik
These mini bikes are sold in stores under the name of Baja Warrior mini bike MB165 or the newer version MB200.
In my other video I have measurements for that frame so if you want to make a similar frame check out that video. Good luck
czcams.com/video/kdzBH8ipe-w/video.html
What if I buy the charging coils new cuz I use my fly wheel that I already have ???
Charles& ashanteria
There’s a high chance that your flywheel doesn’t have the magnet on the inner part of it. As the flywheel spins, the magnet passes over the coils creating electricity that powers the lights. Check your flywheel and see if you have that magnet on the inner part of the wall. If you don’t than your coils won’t work. Good luck
So the predator doesnt have magnets?
Can that be used to charge a battery if you added one?
It definitely can be used to charge your battery 🪫 but you’ll need a voltage regulator to ensure you get steady and constant supply of voltage.
What kind of mini bike is that
NICE!!!!
