Eurovision Song Contest 2011 - Grand Final - Full Show

- After Lena Meyer-Landrut's victory in Oslo, the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 travelled to Düsseldorf in Germany. It was the first time since 1983 that Germany hosted the contest.
A total of forty-three countries took part in the 2011 contest held in Düsseldorf. The city emerged as the winner of an open selection process which saw several cities compete for the right to host the Eurovision Song Contest.
The biggest news of this contest was the return of Italy, after more than ten years. Italy joined France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom to form the so-called Big Five countries that have automatic qualification to the Grand Final.
One of the most famous German comediennes, Anke Engelke, TV anchor Judith Rakers and all-round showman Stefan Raab hosted the event. Raab had also been part of Lena’s winning team in 2010.
Azerbaijan's Ell and Nikki triumphed in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. Italy's Raphael Gualazzi finished second and Sweden's Eric Saade finished third. It was the very first victory for Azerbaijan and meant that the contest would go to its most eastern location in the history of the competition the following year.

The most epic opening ever
Agree
agree, but i love 2010's intro
Rock n roll satellite I love it
Most beautiful winners
Even though I'm German: Finland 2007 ?
Man after all these years this is still such an utterly _ecstatic_ opening performance. Stefan Raab is an entertainment genius. Outstanding job from everyone involved.
We miss Stefan Raab. He was a great entertainer. Dont misunderstand, he ist still alive, but he is not appearing in the public anymore...
@@silvanbeh What? Why? Is he retired?
@@makicabrera Yes, but it was his own choice
That man is a myth a legend and a bundle of pure freaking will - he can win things through pure will power, I'm pretty sure! If you've seen his main show "Schlag den Raab", you _know_ what I mean... and I'm pretty sure by pure freaking will he made it possible for Germany to win Eurovision! XD
Only one week into quarantine and i find myself watching the whole 3 1/2 hours of a eurovision thats 9 years old....

The intro to Lena's performance is one of my favourite moments in Eurovision, I love that they acknowledged every worker during the show's runtime.
One of the best openings in my opinion
The worst
@@TheStOne1 can i have my own opinion please

Excellent!
Also 2015 had one of the best openings, I think it was the most creative opening in the history of eurovision.
That arena was next gen and it looks more modern than the one in 2021.
When German people make stuff, it ages so well...
Thanks!
Thanks! I'm actually just comparing flag parades because I miss the ESC. I thought the 2021 one was better because when Germany was hosting, we didn't do a proper flag parade introducing all the participants. I always love that moment, it's like the start of the hunger games... Italy will put on a good show for sure next year!
@@intrepidtomato I have to agree. That was the missing part. The rest is a pure masterpiece! :D
Germany has one the most modern show ever. Compare this with 09, 10 or 12.
I think the best stage of all time was from 2012 in azerbaijan.

High Quality
You feel it if a country really loves the Eurovision Song Contest!!!!
It had a very wide range of great songs, more than in other years (in my opinion)
Huge budget that year
One of the best years for Eurovision. Loved Azerbaijan entry.
I miss germany hosting the contest
please grab the trophy again germany 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Unfortunately, we aren't really trying at the moment. xD
Hosting the ESC is expensive and a lot of work.
Raab retired from show biz and that's one of the reasons why we only have bad entries (except Michael Schulte). Guildo, Stefan himself, Max, Lena and Roman were all supported by Stefan Raab. He's a such a talent. And I honestly fear who would host an ESC nowadays...
@@ehmha3641
I think Germany would probably choose somebody like Steven Gätjen, Joko & Klaas, Florian Silbereisen, Palina Rojinski, Collien Ulmen-Fernandes...or of course..Barbara Schöneberger. The ARD would have to choose presenters from different broadbasters since their own ones often aren't charismatic.
@@questionmark3219 could deal with Flori and Steven...;) and I'd rather see Ina Müller instead of Babsi. But if I could choose and this will always remain a dream I'd opt for Ina, Stefan and Hape...they just have to make a comeback. back in the days eurovision looked so big, with the time arenas, crowds and stages are smaller and smaller, germany didi amazing job!
Not really, though. This stadium is an absolute exception in Eurovision history and in Europe, as it can hold 55k people. Most years, and that includes the 2000s, Eurovision audiences of around 15k people are standard.

My favorite memory from that contest is, that the vignettes for each country show immigrants from that culture living in Germany. It documents that this country, in the center of Europe, with nine direct neighbors, has become the European melting pot - instead of being its divider until the year 1990, when the Iron Curtain officially ceased to exist. Germany has come a long way through the last 2000 years and reinvented itself every century or so. For the better, fortunately. I hope, the people living in Germany know the potential of this country and use it to build a better future for the European continent.
The opening was outstanding.
Lena 🧡 I love this year’s festival. Amazing stage, intro, songs, production, public reaction, love it.
Lena is still my number one favorite eurovision singer.
It felt odd that the voting started before performance.
It is beautiful to see that the postcards represented the people from each country comes to get life in germany.
It feels good when the later edition just shouting the 12 points not those 8, 10, and 12 points.
If Germany won, Lena would handed over the trophy from her to herself.
Italy came back to the contest with such a bang, starting off a string of extremely well-received entries, but they’ve always been risk-takers and none moreso than this entry! What a wonderful thing to have one country enter so many songs of different musical styles and genres! I hope Italy can take it home again someday soon.
well, you did not have to wait that long :)
Well.... hehehehhe.... Grazie!
Oh yeah, Italy switches genres all the time... but also, how in the world did they get second place with _Jazz_ right off the bat? 😂

Really colorful year with many great songs. Italy, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Denmark, Serbia. And a great stage by Germans.
I really loved watching the show that year.
Opening with Finland, Bosnia & Herzegovina, leading to Denmark is very brave... slowly turning up the knob of intensity! Also, pretty smart given how much energy that opening had! I hope in the future Eurovision gits more daring with its running order again! :)
@@najrenchelf2751 In 2011 the running order was random. Since 2013 the producers decide the running order based on first/second half.
@@fbrandt. ok, that would explain how Ireland and Sweden ended up back to back...
