Chrystian Cutright slide is the "style" and steel is the "instrument". You can slide play most guitars to some level. Steel guitars come in lap, pedal and traditional styles.

This one hits hard. When my wife was seven months pregnant her blood pressure skyrocketed and they misdiagnosed her with preeclampsia. They did an emergency C-section but her blood pressure kept rising and she dropped into a coma. For 3 days I paced the floor at the hospital. They kept telling me to go home and rest but there was no way I could sleep. We took turns icing her and washing her face with cold rags. It seemed like an eternity before she opened her eyes. She finally came out of the coma and we got to keep her for 16 more years. I don't know if you'll get this comment so long after posting this video. If you do, watch the very end of the video again. You'll see in the background Johnnie grown up taking his son fishing and his wife and their second child come into view just as the song ends. So his prayers were answered.

I knew my wife since I was 8 years old, I reconnected with her 11 years later and it was a beautiful relationship, we faced adversity and then we had a kid and she didn’t think she could, but prayer was great. Then her and my baby died in a car accident and that call from police changed my life, I was with friends and then I isolated myself and did many drugs and gambled and after losing all my money, I became homeless. But I’m thankful to God for not giving up on me, so I work for Him full time now and I’m still homeless, no money, but He provides. So this song definitely is close to me, but not spot on. I don’t know if I could ever love a woman as much as I did her, but I know love God more than any woman and that’s what keeps me going. God bless

Country music is about telling a story, and they pick songs that make you feel something.

This song reminds me of 3 Tear Drops by Steve Wariner. Different but some themes of sadness and dealing with life. This one is a great song and a great reaction.

I enjoyed seeing you talking about the "country sound" LOL. It's a steel guitar and they are beautiful instruments. They're sadly being lost to time but they remain in many old country and rock songs.

For me I said a similar prayer that Johnny did in the video 2 times in 2020 once when my husband was diagnosed with cancer the other when my husband went on Hospice at home 3 weeks before he died from the cancer.

Its not sad...its not sad at all. Its beautiful...growth and love in a human. When someone can go from being so self centered as a child to not even let the girl go fishing to then be willing to self sacrifice your own life for the same person. Amazing and beautiful....happy, good. Thats truly being successful in life.

Originally released in 1994, and I loved it then too. Wow. For a story with no real ending, it makes you think. Good ending? Bad ending? But, it captured a lot of hearts. Great Post.

I sang this exact song at my uncle's 2nd wedding it was his wedding song because the story is masterfully wrote from beginning to end starting as a 8 year old boy that has a crush on the girl that just so happens to walk through the gate at your house holding a fishing pole to seeing them running with a little boy at the end of the video to the same fishing spot they were at when they were 8 at 23 and him as a toddler

Man this is an old one lol you should try Vince Gill either "I still believe in you" or "Go rest high on that mountain" you can try Brad Paisley "the man he didn't have to be"
