Yep. Kind of made sense though where German /Italian ammunition shouldn’t work with US guns etc. made it more realistic. Think this was the last moh game before they added the ability to pick up different weapons.

I always get nervous when the persecution starts and you need to run in the rooftops :c even you made it in, the sound of the soldiers knock it down the door and looking for you, it stills give me chills :c

I only played Breakthrough a couple of times because of how buggy it was, but I always remembered picking up the Beretta in this level.

It's kinda hard to remember they were there too, with basically any WW2 shooter focusing solely on Germans and Japanese.
Hell, it was even possible to fight Vichy French soldiers in one of the first COD game ! Talk about a rare event !

Yeah but the two most common types of Italian soldiers encountered in the game are potrayed terribly terribly wrong and look odd. The 114th Infantry soldiers (brown) are wearing British P37 Battledresses with full British gear, American M1 pot helmets and have post-war Italian flags on their sleeves. This likely means that the devs were lazy to make proper Italian soldiers and just recycled the unused British models and American helmets for them while we don't see a single British soldier wearing the Battledress uniform which is also odd because it was the most common one. The 202nd Coastal Division soldiers (green) are wearing partially-accurate Italian Saharina uniforms but with a British Brodie helmet. Again, they just were too lazy to make proper Italian M33 helmet or tropical hat so they just recycled unused Brodie helmets. This means we were supposed to see regular British soldiers wearing Battledress uniforms with Brodie helmets in the game but the developers were so lazy that they just completely recycled the regular British soldier to make inaccurate Italian soldiers...

This level annoyed the hell out of me back in the day. Especially the bit with protecting the guy when he’s unlocking the door

I could see running out of ammo. I don't remember having particular difficultly there, but it did seem to drag on.

@@l337pwnage that was my main problem. Thing was, there wasn't this ammo issue into this level. The previous 2 levels had regular ammo drops

@@tombardsley3081 While I made it a point to play the single player campaigns, I mostly played multiplayer.
I also enjoyed Spearhead more, I would play those levels more than once.
I do remember this level, and that fight, but only vaguely.
For me, the best part of Breakthrough was the Liberation mode Multiplayer. That was a blast.
I remember one time I was on this low pop server, I think 5 v5 or 6 v 6.
I got like 3 kills with a lucky grenade at a choke point. The rest of my team went down another route and all died. It ended up being me v. one other guy and it was either release my teammates, hunt him, or camp my "jail".
I chose to camp and got a good shot on my enemy when he tried creeping through a door.

@@l337pwnage fair enough. Back in the day when these games were originally released , I didn’t really have internet on my pc so was in the single player the whole time.

@@tombardsley3081 I guess I didn't appreciate how spoiled I was. Also, IIRC this game was also available on one of the console systems, and I don't think any consoles had internet capability back then.
One of the nice things about a lot of PC games back then is they had the option. The games I play now, if the internet is down, I can't play them at all.
Also, you could host your own server, but, with my internet, I really couldn't have more than 4 people in the game.
And I never got into the "LAN party" thing.
