Mission one: Lighting the Torch
Part one: Rangers Lead the Way
"Good work on infiltrating the coastline. It's time to get down to business. We've procured two captured German Opel transport trucks for this part of the mission. They will take your squad to a shoreside village that leads into the town of Arzew, where our missing agent last reported in. Take control of this village quickly, and try not to let any sentries slip away to warn other troops in Arzew. You'll be part of the assault team in the first truck.
German occupation forces are reported to be light in this area, but in my experience, you're better off taking that with a grain of salt. There's no point in taking unnecessary risks. Captain Richards will be in command of the mission, so pay close attention to his orders. Lieutenant Powell, as second in command, you will be bringing up the rear and supporting the assault on the village.
One more note - watch your ammo. The M1 Garand doesn't reload easily in the middle of a clip, so you'll have to fire off the whole clip before you can reload again."

Objective 3: Man the MG42 mounted machine gun.

I still remember being 10 years old trying this mission over and over again just to save my squad mates. Took me 5 years to realize that they are scripted to die. :( Amazing game btw.
omg i thought i was the only one! but no, actually they can survive, but at one point they stay put in a sort of patio, and they tell ou to move on. in different parts of the game there are little scripted dialogs in case certain soldiers survive
There was always one guy that almost always died straight away and I always tried to save him. It was possible to do but he was so weak if he got hit once he died. I must have played this little segment over 100 times back in the day

@@DariusSpark By ‘Spielbergian’ I meant ‘like that which can be heard in Spielberg films’ not ‘composed by Spielberg’. Perhaps not expressed in quite the right way, so the confusion is understandable.
I always avoided picking up the Mp40, so later when the entire quad dies in the ambush I would rush down and pick up the Thompson. Then you can actually have both the Mp40 and the Thompson, but for some reason once you pick up the german gun you can't have the tommy.
Hahahaha. I never thought I'd meet another person who do this. I even remember loading game because the officer with MP40 died in a passage and there was no way to move forward without picking up his gun :D I also remember when playing through the game for a God knows which time I found out you can rescue one of the prisoners transported by truck in the next mission. Great memories.

@MrFreedem Once I randomly saved Private Allen,he survived the ambush but right when I got past the gate he disappeared.
Damn good game. They need to make these games in HD and re-release them so new PCs can actually play it. MoH Allied Assault, MoHAA Spearhead, MoHAA Breakthrough and MoH Pacific Assault, i'd gladly buy them again. Hell i'd even pay a good $65
