You need a diode matrix
Just use 1 Amp diodes.

Paint inside of buildings with Acrylic Lamp Black paint. I always use Warm white Leds for all my buildings I glue all my buildings where needed with UPVc glue so they can easily be removed if needed.
Great tutorial. Really enjoy the electronic angle.
One idea for light seeping avoidance : put some recycled tinfoil (typically, from chocolate tablets I am not supposed to eat...) inside the roof. It stops the light to come out, and reflects it back into the building. Might do the trick for no money.

Lighting really does add life to your layout.
The light bleed through plastic buildings/cartiages/locos can be a pain as you've discovered.
One thing to also note is that not all LEDs are the same voltage and may need similar adapters for similar lights.
I recently got some street lights that need a 6v adapter where my old Tri-ang Hornby bulbs will happily run off my Tri-ang 12v controller. 👍

Excellent stuff Doug! Really nice job on those lights and shows what you can do with mere pennies 😎 Good description too for the different sidings: a simple system that works as long as you follow a simple system 👍 I’m not sure but I suspect there is a simple way to re wire it so you only have to push one button each time. Sadly it is late on a Sunday and my brain has switched off for now 😂
Look forward to the directional lighting tutorial too mate. I have some very old locos that I have no intention of disposing of which deserve an upgrade 😉

Diodes should be able to do all lanes with a single switch push (conditional logic).
LEDs and light bleed: I used black paint inside my lovely BMR railcars when I added bidirectional lights to them. I'm going to add LEDs to my 3d printed-class 205 at some stage. I will eventually make videos for this.
Another thought: I've just converted my n gauge boxfile layout to run off a 9V battery - makes it properly portable.
Lighting looks great. Carriages would look great with some lights. Maybe adding some light kits from train tech or those magnetic switch lights like hornby have would be a good idea.
Maybe bring back Tutorial Tuesday?

It can be done with diodes . Many years ago the Railway Modeller had an artical explaining this very thing. I`m not certain if the man only used diodes, or if the wiring was cascaded as well . All the best. Paddy Owen.
Yes, just had a sit down with some paper and pens and worked out how to do it with diodes to block the unwanted current flow in specific directions. Thanks

Do they make momentary connect rotary switches? that would make the passing through the intermediate lanes semantic natural.

Potentially but I think I've solved it with diodes, will test it out today.
@@BudgetModelRailways a diode on the output of each switch for each "colour" it feeds should do the trick
