Canada has had ‘major problem’ with India following assassination of Sikh leader

  • ASPI Senior Fellow Mark Watson says Canada has had a “major problem” with India because there was a murder which was allegedly carried out with “some connection” to agents of the Indian government.
Last month, the Washington Post reported that in 2020, Australia expelled two officers from the Research and Analysis Wing of India’s foreign intelligence service.
It comes after ASIO had previously alleged that a ‘nest of spies’ from an unnamed country sought to cultivate politicians, monitor diaspora communities and obtain classified information.
“Canada has had a major problem, much bigger than ours because there was an assassination of a Sikh leader in Canada … and he was assassinated or murdered, allegedly, with some connection to agents of the Indian government,” Mr Watson told Sky News Australia.
“That is what was said by the Canadian Prime Minister in Parliament that there were ‘credible allegations’ that the death … [was] connected to ‘agents’ of the Indian government.”

Yo India; Canadians do not realize the difference between a Sikh and a Khalistani Seperatist. The more You India talks tough, the more the Canadians are going to try and protect the Sikhs ( and by mistake, the Khalistanis).
India is creating the single greatest awareness of the Khalistan seperatist movement in modern history . And the Canadians are not to blame, they are innocent and simply do not know how to distinguish between a Sikh Sikh and a Khalistani Seperatist.

Just a note, the reason why Indians probably reacted is recently, when there was a planted religious leader called Amritpal Singh (who has since been arrested) who was dressing up (previously a trucker) like an old religious extremist (Bhindanwale) who previously occupied a place of worship seeking to ignite a religious war. This gentleman actually carried a copy of their holy scripture during a raid on an Indian Police station in some remote region.
Basically, funding and encouragement was undertaken by Canadians, UK Sikhs and Pakistanis. I feel if you're encouraging and igniting a violent uprising in which others are expected to die... then it's fair game on your life too.
I think Nijjar probably invited this. Ever since this Amritpal Singh episode hit the Indian mainstream, it was only a matter of time that the Indian state responded. Let's face it, you cannot fund and encourage radical religious uprising and encourage violence against another state, citing freedom of speech. Sooner or later, this thing will implode badly on Canada (and India too if they allow it to happen unhindered). There has been blood spilled in that country, India was partitioned along religious lines, these religious overtones coming from abroad will not sit well with Indians.
What they have done is simply turned these criminal elements coming in their country against their perceived antagonists. And this is going to continue.
