    I never peel turnips, as they have fibre and minerals in their skin, as well as the pigment acting as or leading to an antioxidant. A note: turnips and radishes are closely related.
    Thanks for not wasting the asparagus!

      We peel our turnips (in the Philippines) because the skin is thick & brown. Very similar to potato. Back in the US I do not think I ever saw a turnip.

    I made these today, but substituted Brussel sprouts for the snap peas. They're difficult to find in the store, and I prefer them raw anyway. I also substituted a lemon butter sauce for this one and sprinkled parsley, minced preserved lemon peel and Aleppo pepper on top. Very tasty!

    I'm not a fan of turnip cooked the usual way, boiled until smooshy and watery. This looks like it might change my mind about turnip.

  • @stellaz2595
    @stellaz2595 Před 4 lety

    Just my opinion, but vegs require more cooking time, particularly the turnip. Mine were hard as a rock using your recommended cooking time. Otherwise, the dish was pretty good, but not enough salt, if you use unsalted butter.
    I think these vegs would be GREAT roasted, btw, finished with a squeeze of lemon.
