- I wanted to share some of the baby steps I am taking to eating healthier and getting healthier.
Without planning it, I realized today's video made it seem like we were eating like birds due to the seeded cracker recipe I made and the coconut bird's nest cookies using Sugarwood 1790 vanilla for the first time. ©

Morning Linda, Saw a saying yesterday that tickled me. Then today I watched your fun and inspiring vlog so decided to share this saying. “An apron is only a cape on backwards”. To all of us who try to enjoy the “simple pleasures” not only for ourselves but for our loved ones as well….wishing you a wonderful day!
I love that!!!!!! Thank you for sharing.
Lovely cookies. You do every thing well.
You show that you enjoy all things good and beautiful.
Lois Martin, retired Home Economics teache🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍👍
From state of Kentucky!!
Have a grand week
Linda, I see your daily life real and wholesome. So refreshing to watch you.....
Great watching you this morning Linda. Watching your vlog always puts a smile on my face. You offer so much to this channel. Keep up the great work!
Isn't it a blessing not only to see the whirling snow and beautiful sunset but KNOW you are seeing them and appreciate them?
It certainly is a blessing and I will never take it for granted. Thank you for joining me today!
I am always drawn at how you begin ur day, a beautiful scene of nature quiet, peaceful and serene with a hot cup of coffee perfect. Now let's get started!
Thank you so much 😀 I hope you enjoy your day today Audrey!
I hope you enjoy today's video!
Loved it!
I always enjoy your videos !!!! Thank you !!
Love the multiplying bunnies and watching Willow cavort in the snow. Have a nice day.
Thank you! You too!
You definitely are the epitome of the saying "a life well lived." You're inspiring me to try harder to make my home and life better and more rewarding! 🥰
Good morning, Linda! I so look forward to starting my Sunday with your videos! I love coconut, so I may have to try those cookies. The first shot of Willow staring up at you in the early morning, priceless! Have a beautiful week. 💗
I will get the recipe loaded, hopefully later today, and I’m certainly going to try it without the coconut in the batter again very soon because they were good with it but I bet they’ll be better without it 😆
Linda, I so look forward to watching your videos and am thankful there are a plethora going back years that I have to catch up on since finding your channel last year. I'm 29 years old, living in Tennessee in a fairly cookie cutter subdivision, dreaming of New England fine living and making a point to bring a touch of it to my life every day. Thank you for sharing your life and treasures with us! You are the type of woman I aspire to be!
Such kinds words. I'm glad you are enjoying many of the past videos. Thank you for watching!
We are on the same mission as far as our diet. We are fortunate to have chickens so fresh eggs, we raise our own meat chickens and pork. No more box mixes and not many canned either. I have gone to the extreme and now mill fresh wheat flour from several different wheat berries and it’s wonderful- we can eat bread again and I don’t feel quite so bad eating a chocolate chip cookie I made from fresh milled flour. LOL It’s not an overnight change but a journey- hopefully we can all inspire one another.
Please research the CARNIVORE DIET. 👍☺️💖
Most nutrition experts recommend ground over whole flaxseed because the ground form is easier to digest. Whole flaxseed may pass through your intestine undigested, which means you won't get all the benefits.
It might be the same for the other seeds too
So love starting my week with your videos. I miss the quiet mornings of New England. Thank you. I have learned so very much- even though I am 72 ( ugh) Keep it up Linda. Have a great day. Thank you.
Hear you. I have a regular routine. Then I settle in my favorite chair and do my journaling and from there, I let my day lead my creative juices. 2024 was a new reset for myself eating clean, joined a gym and getting monthly massages, I am taking care of me the best I can be,so I can care for my husband who needs me. Love the cookie samples for an Easter treat for my loved ones. I so love your videos. Thanks! for the potato trick. Love hearing the crunch of snow beneath your feet. Till next Sunday, God bless you Linda.
Linda, Enjoyed today's video you are a great inspiration. The coconut bird nests brought back memories to me as I made similar ones in the past also using small jelly beans. I like the idea of adding orange zest. 😋😋 You are terrific sharing your fun making recipes with us, thanks very much. Hope you have a peaceful week ☮
I loved the opening to this video, early morning snow, coffee & ‘Willow’….Perfect Linda, I love the rabbits cute! The Vanilla Extract Bottle looks fabulous & that label is perfect! Cookies yummy, take it easy in the gym… Thank you for sharing this great video with us!..☺️
Thank you so much! 😊
Love your recipes and demonstrations 🥰
Glad you like them!
Cookies look lovely! Yum!
Good Morning Linda..I always look forward to your video on Sunday morning here.. Thank you for the up coming recipes and I look forward to trying.. Love the snow and watching Willow having fun.. Thank you for all that you share with us.. Have a wonderful blessed day.. Until next time..
I love and appreciate your positive attitude! It's so refreshing!!! I, too, live in an old home and appreciate your attention to detail and how intentional you are when decorating. A curated home over time is beautiful!
Loved the video today …Thanks 🌿
I so look forward to your videos Linda. They inspire me to stop and take pleasures from simple things.
I will definitely check out the vanilla.
Thank you for joining me today!
Love the video l will rewatch some of your videos because I enjoy them so much
I’m so glad you are enjoying them!
Hi, Linda! You know, l got to thinking about making apple tarts at 6 this morning, and how much hubby Mike would enjoy them. Guess the fragrance woke him up! Also, we have lilacs all around the pool in the backyard. Light, medium, dark, repeat, and cardinals always nest there. But by midsummer, grapevine tries to grow all over the south bushes. So...lemons/lemonade! A friend and l yank them off, make wreaths, decorate, and sell them. Have an albino (almost-has a couple of black spots and dark eyes) chew a hole in the birdhouse in the front maple tree. He sleeps with his tail hanging out the hole, and people think it's a cat up there! Thanks for the great video. Spring flower planting soon! 🌱🌷🌱
Absolutely the best way to start the day. I love listening to the dawn chorus in the mornings and watching a sunrise.
Kindest regards
Donna, Worcester uk.
Gosh, I haven't even seen coconut nest cookies in ages! I hope to be making them for Easter. Much thanks for the ideas and inspiration from your videos.
Love your pink sweater! and your little honeypot is just adorable. I think I will probably try this recipe. I’m not much of a cook, but I do like to do fun things you always inspire me. I wish you had a video every day!🌸
Enjoy!
You have such beautiful intros and outros! What lovely vlogs!!
Thank you so much!!
My brain jumps around like yours, I am doing projects to my house getting ready to paint my den
Have fun with your project! I think I have some wallpaper, arriving in a week or two and then I’ll be starting a new project myself!
Hi there! I may try the recipes you shared today. By the way, my husband and I made it to New Hampshire. We stayed in Exeter at the Exeter Inn. Absolutely wonderful. We fell in love with NH and will be returning in fall hopefully sooner than later. Love your videos and especially love your music. ❤
Very good thank you 😊
Linda, thank you for another enjoyable video. You have such creative ways to present content and to share ideas. You are an inspiration and a joy. God bless your "kindred spirit", Robert.
Linda, I enjoyed watching you bake. I am going to make the goodies, as they looked so good. I could eat healthier myself. Thanks for sharing. Pat❤
Oh Linda.....l wake up on Sunday mornings looking forward to your video.....your droll sense of humor helps me to wake up in a good mood and my family thanks you!
🤗
The coconut cookies look tasty! Cute idea for Easter! I totally get the ideas multiplying like bunnies- that’s how my brain works too! I keep a clipboard with my “to do” list. I have daily projects I want or need to get done and then my “extended” list of sooo many things that need to be done around the house….painting the bathroom is up next!
Loving the honey jar.
I found it thrifting. I love the opal glass
I love how the cookies came out! The little egg nest are adorable! 🐦🐣
Thanks so much! 😊
I have the same way to wake up and thinking patterns. Yiou are so creative and talented.... I make the same type bird chocolates for Easter. The cookies look great! Wonderful that you have decided to take your healthy eating up a notch... Careful of the seeds they can cause diverticulitis! The natural herbs and veggies looked wonderful at the market. Loved seeing them.
Thank you!
@@newenglandfineliving Music is really important to our overall health. I have been adding more of it and have dropped my blood pressure naturally, which was starting to creep upwards. I always like the music you have on your vlogs, can you please post the names of the various songs? They make me feel so good.
I'm so glad you enjoy the music! Unfortunately it has come to my attention, by many other kindred spirits, that another vlog has been copying not only my video content and store inventory, but also the music that takes me forever to find, purchase, and help me make my channel unique. I have had to make the decision to stop sharing the titles, which I have done in the past due to this issue. I'm sorry someone ruined it for so many others.
@@newenglandfineliving I am so sorry to hear that. I just remember when you use to link things for us. Just an fyi about this same sort of thing, I recently had a weird similar experience on eBay. I purchased a clock and never received the tracking after 3 days. So two days ago I just happened to search again for the same clock. There to my utter amazement, was not only MY clock photo on someone elses' site than the one I purchased it from, but they appeared to have close to 500 sales. I called ebay, and they are going to refund my funds. It is just the pure hassle and inconvenience of having to deal with it that irks me. It must be the same people doing this to rip us off. I am going to be really watching everything much more closer. I always look forward to your vlogs. You do a great job with them. Protect your artistic work absolutely I understand. After my laptop broke in Dec they youtube assigned me a new strange name. You may remember me as posting by my name Bren of the Golden Isles of GA USA.
Linda... another great video... how I love spending my Sunday mornings with you! I must say at the beginning of the video those little bunnies were so adorable and gets me in the mood for Easter decor! I'm so glad you shared the seeded cracker recipe because I think that is something that I would like to make for my hubby... he would love them. Also my four grandsons will be visiting in June and I'm going to make those nest cookies with them..yummy!! By the way, Willow looks like a young pup as she runs around in the snow! Have a lovely week!🌷🫖🌺
Good morning Cynthia! I will be posting the recipe hopefully later today for the cookies. I will post it the correct way LOL.
@@newenglandfineliving thanks!!
Early morning with a cup of coffee or a quiet place with a cup of tea in the afternoon are two small rituals i indulge in daily. Your cookies look so good. My mother used to make "bird nests" with chocolate and coconut. I loved them. Unfortunately, i don't know what happened to the recipe. I do remember she toasted the coconut.
Beautiful bottle of vanilla..
Love the bird nest cookies..
Will have to make mine sugar free...love Willow, such a sweetie...❤
Every day I live my best life
Very blessed...❤
Great job with videoing tactics!!
Thanks!
Love your video and of course willow the cookies you made my sister law called them bird nest cookies they looked so yummy thak you for taking us along on your journey pat from canada
I completely changed up my diet since the holidays. I am eating for my microbiome. Whole foods, no grains, no processed foods. I'm also making fermentations that are really good for your gut health. There is a ton of information on this on youtube. Seems like everyone is doing some kind of special diet.
check out Seed and Sparrow Homestead on CZcams; she does all sorts of fermentaion things!
Another productive, inspiring, and cozy video - thanks!
I use a stopper (much like the one in the Sugarwood vanilla extract bottle) to make the wells in thumbprint cookies. Mine is from a tequila bottle (the one with the dancing skeletons). The stopper has a wooden knob allowing for a good grip. Maybe one of your lovely crystal stoppers from your collection could be used? 🤔
That is such a good idea! Thank you for sharing it with us!
You’re so much more of an organized baker than I am. I never put all my ingredients in separate little containers before I mix them all together. I just do the dry all in one bowl and the wet in another and then combine. I couldn’t deal with all those little containers but that’s just me. Plus lots less to wash later.
Love your videos, your mannerism and you! Keep up the great job!! 🥰👍
Thank you! Will do!
Dr. Chaffee's carnivore diet videos are absolutely amazing. Very very healthy, many on his site commented that they experienced health improvements within 2-3 days. God bless you in good health!
Thank you for your input. I’m currently following doctors orders for my particular health issues but I appreciate your sharing your information and knowledge
I love the vanilla label design Yay for its arrival. Good for you and Ben on trying to stick to healthier habits. I recently read that women 62 and older (me) should get in 7500 steps a day.🤪 Baby steps here too.
You've inspired me to get back to searching for a good gluten free home made seed cracker. Much of what's offered on the market is just not good, and GF products are so expensive. I've found a couple of recipes, will try them out, and report on the outcome. So grateful for your channel, Linda. 🤗
Wonderful!
Keeping with your bird theme your cracker dough looked like suet lol❤
LOL!!!! You're right, it did! That's hysterical
I think “fancy” refers to the type of grate/ size of cut like shredded vs shaved vs longer grated
That makes sense, thank you!
I highly recommend sprouted seeds which are easy on digestion and maintain their nutritional value vs roasted.
Fancy coconut is simply long slender cuts of coconut.
Thank you lol
Morning Linda, the name linseeds came from latin linum usitatissium word. Thank you for the recipe!😊
I believe Fancy was the brand name of the coconut back in the day.
You are inspiring me to try both of these recipes! I think I have seen fancy coconut here in our Texas store. Not sure what it means but perhaps thinner coconut? I’m just guessing. I’m not much of a cook but you make me feel like it could be enjoyable with the care free approach you demonstrate. Thank you kindred spirit ❤
I used a pizza wheel to score them before baking. I really pretty much cut them. It was easy and they turned out great!
Great idea!!!!
Thank you for the potato trick! I broke an appliance bulb over the range this morning (separating the glass from the metal, of course) and wondered how I could remove it. Synchronicity!
That is good timing!
Good morning, dear Linda. Sugarwood is so pretty in the snow. I feel like a friend who pops into your kitchen to say hello each Sunday. On the, “eating healthy”, thing…..so much information to absorb and everyone has their perspective. The one thing I do know is that sugar is so bad for us, and flour, along with most manufactured foods are processed by our bodies as sugar. That little pancreas of ours is so important to our health. As much as you can, drop sugar, flour, bread, baked goods, (I know it’s difficult!) from your diet. A treat on occasion is fine, but very occasionally. I have watched a neighbor suffer from diabetes and she is in very poor health, on insulin, but still eating all the wrong things. It takes willpower. Do a little research and focus on eating primarily meat, veggie, some fruit and YES, seeds and nuts, especially walnuts and brazils. Sorry this is a long comment. Please have a wonderful week. Loved that large shelving unit, btw. Your life is good! You inspire me. 😃
Totally agree with you! Keto has helped us, health wise... Carbs turn into sugar.... sigh.... but yes, a treat now and then is fine!
I really enjoyed your video. Was wondering, have you ever thought of flipping the placement of your toaster and Kitchen Aid mixer? That way it would be closer to where you're working. Just a thought. 🙂
Hey Linda! Felt like we hardly saw your face in this video. Would have loved to see the pink and blue tops you wore. You've inspired me to look at eating healthier because I turn 50 this year😅
I make the slice and bake crackers I learned about on the Mary's Nest yt channel. No more rolling out! I put parmesan cheese, garic powder and sesame seeds in mine. They are excellent. Mine are never round as hers but I like the rustic look, sort of melba toast-ish. Keep taking good care of yourself 💐
Those sound delicious!
Could you post that recipe? They do sound great! Thank you.
Good morning! Quick question, do you think the crackers would still taste good if I don’t add the fennel seeds?
I'm sure they would be great without fennel. I would say do without totally or add another seed you might like. I really liked the flavor the caraway added.
@@newenglandfineliving thanks. Im going to give them a try.
Hi from Annie, vanilla looks inviting and delicious, coconut cookies look good and the seeds bisc could do with some honey in it would be rather bland otherwise?. I would grind them first and perhaps use one flour that is normal SR flour etc.
While watching I was making muffins. Stopper fell out of vanilla bottle dumping in way more than planned. Hopefully rescued it. We will see. They look fine.
Update: they’re fine -slightly too sweet but fine!😂
I love knowing there is another vanilla brand with a stopper! Can there ever be too much vanilla? LOL
It was Costco pure vanilla
I just made my first sourdough bread came out pretty good but was quite a production
Yay you! I’m still totally intimidated to try sourdough bread.
I might try to make those seed crackers😍. Also, where is your log burning stove in your house? Thanks. Loved the video😍😍
Hi! The woodstove is in the library tucked into the fireplace under the television.
When I first saw the potatoes I thought it was in your kitchen. I thought what are we making with all those potatoes. Also I make mistakes when baking all the time. I never read the recipe ahead because I'm too anxious to get started.
I once made a bird nest cake using spaghetti noodles ( recipe I found online). The chocolate coated noodles didn’t taste very good, but it was cute!
Thanks for sharing!
I thought your acting was cute and I am very interested in your vanilla. I think you need to use you kitchen scissors to open your packages next time. 😂 Great content thank you!
I watched your video this morning and was wondering where you got those cute frisky little white bunnies from?
Hi, I purchased them at a little shop, Great Brook Farm, in Littleton, MA. They might have a few left if you are local.
Hello from the Pacific Northwest, I must have missed the oven temperature setting for the seed crackers. I checked the transcript and it wasn't there either. Is it 350?
Beautiful video! I ordered the vanilla. Thank you for all that you share as you help us embrace the ordinary.
Thank you! I hope you enjoy it!
❤❤❤
Interested to know your thoughts on Einkorn flour. I tried it in bread mixed with other flours. I found it made the bread rather gummy. I have started using Spelt as a substitute. It has a wonderful flavor.
Hi Chole, having not made the crackers before, I liked it and they were crunchy. My friend uses it a lot. This recipe would most likely be good with any flour preference.
@@newenglandfineliving I will try it in crackers. Thanks.
❤
The morning vibes, your pink sweater, spending time with you in the kitchen. Lovely way to end the weekend. Sundays with Linda! By the way, I think shredded coconut is considered fancy coconut. Did anyone else know?
Thank you! Some comments responding about the fancy coconut were length of the shavings, one mentioned it used to be a brand.
Linda where is your island table?
It was my sofa table and I put it back behind the sofa (we needed it for our lamps) and I am on the hunt for the perfect piece!
Linda , I would think you would have tested or tried the vanilla before buying, labeling and selling it in your shop?
Oh! I keep forgetting not everyone has seen past videos. I shared getting a pre-bottling bottle a few months ago, but this was the first time opening a finished batch. I also should’ve remembered to say I’m not selling it in my shop; it’s being sold via the distillery I partnered with.
Linda, what is the brand name of your beautiful dark green cup and saucer.. They are gorgeous.
Where did you get your white cabbage dishes? Can’t eat all those seeds due to diverticulitis. Looks good.
The Wedgewood cabbage dishes were given to me by my mother in law. They were hers.
Have you ever considered having Sugarwood featured on Homeworthy? Not sure what's involved but it would be perfect.
When the home is complete I would love to open my front door on Homeworthy. 🥰
Two days ago I took out a broken bulb with a potato, but I didn’t turn off the power. Luckily, I wasn’t-fried. Neither was the potato.
I’m glad you were okay and no French fries were made!
Excited about coconut cookies my fav!!! Your snafu with adding the coconut before you were supposed to happens alot to me .....ADHD will do that to you
Good morning Linda from England 🇬🇧 I really enjoyed the video, everything you made looked delicious. So funny what Ben did on you with the light holder. Myself and my husband Graham like you eat fairly healthily but we are doing little changes to be even healthier as we age. I am 65 this November and I've had some muscle loss so I've started doing weights also. How nice that your car centre has cups and saucers, we use our Wedgwood ones all the time. Have a great week and looking forward to your next video. Kind regards Julie ❤
Hi Linda, how long did your vanilla cure, before bottling ?
Hi Karen, I will have to ask the distillery that is making it, but I know we have been waiting a long time. PS: This is not the vanilla I made last December at home.
When using einkorn flour, cut back on your liquid a scosh. It is an ancient grain that does not absorb moisture like processed flours.
Nigella is “Love in a Mist” flower seeds.
Very good for asthma. Learned this in Morocco!
Oh thank you!
Cheers to those baby steps to better health! We sent you an email, please take a look.
"Fancy" Shred Coconut is, instead of small flakes used in cookies...it is a wider shred, almost as though you had used a vegetable peeler on the coconut! Used on top of a Coconut Cream Pie to make it.... Fancy!
Thank you
You are so funny ,love it 🌝 What a wonderful life you have thank you for sharing xx
I'm so glad you enjoyed watching! Thank you for visiting with me today!
👍♥️♥️
Hi Linda! You bake fast! 😂
lol! How do you think I get so much done. A lot of coffee makes me move fast! 🤣🤣😝
@@newenglandfineliving Ps I very much enjoy your videos!
Thank you Sylvia
@@newenglandfineliving You are welcome!
❤️👍🇨🇦
I’m confused how with absolutely no connection to the vanilla or the whiskey, you can call it “yours”?
Hi Lisa, good question. I hope this answers it for you. I am in a legal partnership with the company; attorneys were involved on both side to create this joint business venture. The vanilla and the bourbon is being made with my company name on it, which is incorporated and trademarked, not just our home's name. My personal name is also on both bottles. With those reasons, I hope you can see I absolutely do have a connection to the vanilla and the bourbon.
❤
