Looks so good. Such a great helper, and a great way to learn to cook. When my grandsons were younger, we would do a lot of cooking of different things, I had them write the recipe down in their own writing and then they drew pictures of what it was. They kept their notebooks here and when they became adults I gave them to them and they still have them. They would get out their cookbooks when visiting and ask if can make whatever they were in the mood. They would get started cooking from their books. They learn from start up to clean up. The memories and stories created were priceless, Plus they have grama's recipes

I am so grateful for your research. I bake/cook almost everything we eat. I've allowed hubby to continue to eat unhealthy snacks because he's reduced his consumption. Organic foods use safflower or other seed oils which are also extremely unhealthy. Seed oils increase inflammation and we are working to lower the inflammation in my body. The ability to have crackers again is wonderful. You are 100% correct in removing these commercial junk foods from your family's diet.

Also a tremendous mother to be aware of what they eat and try to eliminate chemicals and preservatives from the diet. If we were all like this, the health of our families would be much better.

When I overheard that my brother was starting fractions the comming year I freaked. He was horrified at math. All summer I had him choose a recipe and double or halve it. He looked at the cup marks at the fractions. He got pretty fast at it. Of course it was doubling if it was a sweet. Lol. He understood the relationships between numbers after a couple weeks, it wasn't scary or anything. Then at school he was toward the top of math instead of last, when fractions started. It made school far more enjoyable that year. Later he cooked at restaurants, he said it was what he was already good at.

I love seeing you teaching your children skills that will help them in the future. My grand parents raised me so hey came from an older generation both born in the 1930s. My mom was big on teaching us skills. She always said “ I want to know if something happens to me my kids know how to take care of themselves.” So as soon as we were all enough to use the stove she taught us how to do the basics. As soon as we could reach the washer and dryer we had to wash and do our own laundry. If we were going to church camp or a rip anywhere we knew how to pack our own bags. She would go behind us and check to make sure we have enough of everything we needed. She said “If you’re old enough to go to over night camp for a week you are old enough to pack your bag. I did that with my oldest nieces as well because they were with us all the time when they were little. My nieces will say Hey do you remember when we did xyz. That is a great feeling to know i taught them something or helped them not be afraid to do something. Thank you for sharing your skills with us as well. I haven’t stared canning yet but im trying to research it that way im not as scared when i start doing it. My mom did it for a short time when i was younger but i was a that age where i didnt really care to learn and she wouldnt let us near the stove while she did that scared we would get burnt.

When I turned this video on I had set a timer because I planned on taking a short nap. I ended up watching the whole thing! I love how your son is so interested in what you're doing and really wants to help. I homeschooled my six kids and I didn't have too many that were interested in doing things with me. It took me back to those years. They are all grown up and I'm an empty nester now. Enjoy them, as time goes so quickly! I will be making those sourdough crackers tonight 😁

Ruthann, I'm inspired! I have several cast iron pans. One vintage, the rest Lodge. Now I'm working on getting the tools needed to resurface and season mine and my growth children's! Thank you so much!

This has been the most enjoyable video I’ve watched! As a mother of two grown adults now, it reminds me of how I let them help and now they’re excellent cooks! Your life style and teaching your children are to be congratulated. And you also teach yourself better nutrition for your family. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this with a smile on my face!!🥰

Now, that I've finished the video, let me add that I really enjoyed this video! What a treat to get to go along to take the cows to pasture the first time this season! And you're right, if we give ourselves access to what's bad for us, we'll choose it over what's best for us. Thanks for the reminder!

RuthAnn, you are such a great mother., your children are lucky to have you! That was, very interesting information on opening our mouth wide to eat crackers which makes us crave them. In my wildest dreams I would never have thought of that. May God be with you and your wonderful family.

Love this! I raised six boys and they all cooked with me in the kitchen....it took a lot more time and much messier but great memories of working together and they are all great cooks. Often now that they are grown and on their own they like to cook the way we did it together. Warm my mama s heart. So glad to see you doing this with your children. Thanks for sharing!

You're a good mom. So lovely to see the interaction with your son. So much easier to plant him in front of a movie and do the filming and baking you need to do but you chose to show him how you do everything and us your real life.

I love the way you are teaching your children to help you. I have seen so many of your videos. I love the spring cleaning video of the kitchen and how you had your kids helping. I love seeing the videos of your kids helping you. Your patience is a treasure. As I watched your homemade cracker video I couldn't help but think about being in my grandma's kitchen helping her make homemade ice cream. She didn't have an ice cream churn. She would just put the mixture in a container and freeze it. It was always the best ice cream. Memories also flooded back about cooking with my mom. Some of my earliest memories are of being in the kitchen helping to stir a pot or just standing on a chair so I could see the stove top. They are all memories that I cherish dearly. I did the same thing with my children, and now my grandchildren. My kids now appreciate the ability to cook. I know my grandkids will to. I really like how you are willing to take the time to teach them even though it's messy and takes longer to get it done. I really admire your strength and patience.
