"I was always moved by the thought of people who had given their lives that others might benefit, and particularly the poor soldier. Self-sacrifice is altruistic and an admirable human quality which truly deserves remembrance. I used Laurence Binyon's now famous poem as my inspiration for this one. When the Berlin Wall came down it was such a good moment for the world. One of the best moments of my life. Seeing a lot of people doing something very right, and overdue, and together. A hugely inspirational feeling." -- Roy Harper (Excerpt taken from the lyric book 'The Passions of Great Fortune') - Hudba
Remembrance...
old school Roy, wonderful, reverence as always, P.s have a couple of good B/W stage shots of you from the 80's, can send on.
Roy Harper I have no excuse for getting all emotional watching and listening to "Berliners" because I have listened to the song, sung & played the song with enthusiastic mediocrity so many times. It was something I could not control. I teared up all the way through.
I do not believe in the big beardie in the sky or the big bitch in the sky but may She bless you anyway.
✌✌✌✌❤ 🇬🇧
love you roy take care mate
Hello Roy, I am your biggest fan! Ha! Have been listening to your stuff since '72. I have all of your original LPs, except the Sophisticated Beggar on Strike, of course. Stormcock is the best!
A school buddy that played drums introduced me to his mate max that was well educated lived in this amazing old farmhouse with his mum. It seemed there was a wealth that surrounded him. He played guitar . His vinyl collection was constantly growing . Top of the pops couldn't of been further from his mind. We would sit and listen to his latest purchases . Very wise man because he would never lend. This is were I started my lifetime following roy harper . Budgie was another favourite. From those early beginnings it had me avoiding to much mainstream and searching out the talented in the shadows .
Thanks for your great songs, Roy Harper. You're one of the great singers of our era.
This song has such a drive!
Hats off to Roy!
I was listening to "Once" album yesterday! (as I often do) Yes Roy :"We were remember them..."

Should be required listening on Remembrance Sunday to rrmind "the flowering youth" of how they got to flower. The prisoners behind the Wall and the Iron Curtain were also victims of WW2.

Heating of Roy had the scarf lol lol
And President Trump wants a wall on the Mexican border.
We should remove the wall, but remove the benefit systems first. The wall becomes redundant at that point.
