Addendum: I attempted to notify the company about the issues that I found in this review two days ago following the same process that I have used for the last 2 years. Instead of asking for clarification as they have always done, they decided to allow their PR/Official Discord mod to attack me on the official FB page of the company. Said person is now advocating that I be barred from being able to independently purchase products from the company. This is would be an unprecedented and highly anti-consumer move if done.
For the record, I have reviewed 15 products from this company and only didn't like 3. I even daily drive the release that came before this two weeks after the review.
Pretty disgusting. I will not be purchasing any Anbernic products in the future.
How many MHz is your RAM Stick?
RG353p is a great device and has been my go to for travel and on the go gaming
Anbernic is such wasted potential. They were one of the first to the market (with modern portable emulators) and had a fanbase that they could have carried to new generations of handhelds. Instead, they put out all these mediocre products and most of their customers are moving on. In a few months, you should be able to get a much better option at around the same price. Another pass from me.
Wow, if they barr you I will NEVER buy from them again. EVER!!!! Anbernic hear us we'll, WE WILL BOYCOTT YOU!!!! Forever!!!
Anbernic is like one of those companies that turn into a case study at business and management programs. How a company once on top of everything lost it all in just one year.
There's always a stupid manager in control that messes everything due to their ego. Usualy the owner's son or daughter..

I know the 352 is great I play mine all the time.
But it did take awhile for handheld systems to get to that level at an affordable price. I'm guessing in a year or two we will have much better options.
I really wanted to like this and if It was $250 I would have been tempted. It seems their are a number of issues however and it isnt the super cut price steam deck I was hoping for. Please continue your honest independent reviews and ignore what Anbernik says, Good review
Good review but I bought GPD WIN MAX 2
For a long time I thought that Anbernic had hit rock bottom with the RG552 due to the bad and unthought-out ergonomics of the handheld (shoulder buttons). But with the Win600, Anbernic has managed to repeat the SAME mistake with the bad ergonomics (using the stick and operating the shoulder buttons at the same time) and as if that wasn't bad enough, in my opinion Anbernic also demands a much too high and very cheeky one Price for the service offered. It almost seems to me as if Anbernic is trying to compensate for their previously unachieved sales and profit targets with each additional product through an even poorer price-performance ratio. And that WITHOUT even paying attention to the most important point of all: THE BUYER 🤷♂️ That the buyer really has a good feeling with the handheld in the end and that especially in relation to a reasonable and fair price. Anbernic has achieved this goal with the RG351 series. Now Anbernic only draws attention to embarrassing actions against Taki Undo. This is a very weak signal from Anbernic. Thanks for the effort 👍
Agreed. Other channels in this space gloss over the negatives. A few of them just feel like content farms, regurgitating specs with B-roll and little more. Taki actually reviews the damn things! Thanks Taki.
@@Wheelman2004 other reviewers get stuff with better built qualit. They gat Lenovo ram and SSD while we get glowy ram and SSD. Russ from retro game corps and eta prime said that the joysticks were very uncomfortable. Russ nearly hammered down the point.
Why do you people keep suggesting people like Russ and ETA Prime refuse to point out negatives of these devices. They just haven't ran into these issues on their ends yet or may have not tested and noticed these particular issues yet.
Looks like hes paying to price of being honest now too. Such a shame from Anbernic. =(
It really is unfortunate that Anbernic started to drop off after trying to go for bigger devices and power. I feel like the RG351MP was the peak of their handhelds, but I have yet to get my hands on the 353 and I feel like I'd really love it.
The 353p is fantastic. It's kind of a bummer this new device is so bad. :/
I really, really like your honest review. Your points sound very reliable.
Damn Taki was like a parent seeing their kids failing grades 3 times in a row.

AND having a new child that got A+ with no prior studying on his first exam (AYN and Odin).
This is around the power and price of a 2nd hand GPD Win2, which hasn't such touchscreen issues and is much more comfortable.
A modded and tuned up GPD WIN 2 is still an amazing device. Only issue is you have to reinforce the hinges and preemptively buy a replacement battery. Other than that. It is great. I really hope the GPD WIN 4 is a follow up to it. I hated the route they went with the GPD WIN 3. Even more infuriating was it not having proper analogue triggers and a 6" or bigger screen.
I got a bit shocked when I heard your voice after you mentioned you were sick at the time of recording. You sounded more like Russ from Retro Game Corps.
It's pretty crazy how far and fast Anbernic's fall from grace has been. They went from one of the best, if not the best, company in this space to one of the worst in about a year. Makes me wonder if there was a leadership change somewhere or something.
It's arrogance man, they've basically turned into a shittier version of GPD. Besides, it sadly doesn't surprise me.
I find it happens a lot, they companies tend to get complacent. Or it could also be new managers etc too, we dont know what goes on behind the doors.
Got this for Xmas 2022, specifically with the knowledge of all the ‘cons’. But I got it for 2 reasons instead of a Steamdeck, Ayn Odin or any other (and really the only good reasons to get a Windows handheld over something like a Retroid Pocket 3+):
1. Runs full-fledge Windows, handheld. So any special app or service you have that’s Windows-only, you now have a solution for. Plus if you’re an IT guy, having a relatively compact PC in your pocket for tech tasks over your home network is awesome.
2. Play arcade-y PC games on a nicely sized screen with built-in controls, natively. Games like TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, or Dynasty Warriors or Street Fighter V, all play so much nicer on Steam with this than mouse+keyboard on the desktop.
3 (bonus). Bigbox: If you prefer the Bigbox or Steam Big Picture UI’s and want a practical device to show them off on, this is perfect.
The Steamdeck is a redundant, ridiculous mammoth of a handheld- it’s meant to stream AAA games from your desktop, yet it’s got the horsepower to run them anyway? Back in the 90’s people made fun of chonkers like Gamegears and Atari Lynx’s, and now this thing dwarfs them both. It’s just so overkill for what it’s meant to do.
So this, at an affordable price and with a solid build quality and modest specs for great battery life that can run what you want locally while streaming heavy-duty stuff from your desktop, and being more compact than the Steamdeck, is why I got it even knowing all the ‘drawbacks’.
I play my RP3+ for retro gaming and PS5 streaming, and the Win600 for all the heavier and quirkier stuff. In summary: there is a pretty good use case for this thing, that the competition is a little overspec’d and overpriced for.
Glad you're happy with it.
Im looking at the 3020e model.
Would suit my needs. But still not sure yet 😁
I think if we could get a controller grip accessory for the Win600, the analog stick issue wouldn't be a problem
I like how you talk strait up about these devices
Talking about the Loki mini Pro: is It better than the Odin pro?
Would you reccomend the Intel Alder Lake U Pentium 8505 or the Mendocino Zen 2? The Amd version seems to have better Ram (LDDR5 6400 vs LPDDR4 4266).
hey, I'm new here... just wanted to know anbernic win600 vs gpd xp plus... which is better?? or can you suggest anything better... please and thank you 😊🙏
i ordered one on amazon and it gets here tomorrow im gonna put it to the test
Which model would you recommend for someone looking to play Dreamcast and PSP games who doesn't know anything about Emulation or the Hardware and needs something user friendly? I have never messed with Emulation or PC gaming but want to get something to play Dreamcast Era games and PSP Era handheld games. I know many different handhelds exist but I want one I can figure out easily and one that has good decently large screen.
Thanks Taki, another honest review.
Great review, you don't see many of this quality on CZcams. The companies response is disgusting, will never purchase anything from them.
What was the company response?

Taki, please include Ultimate Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 for future GameCube testing, not only are they some of my favorite games but they are some of, if not the most demanding games on the console, they will make for good benchmarks. Beat Metroid prime 1 and 2 on the same 865 phone that struggled with these two spiderman games.
I love these handhelds conceptually, but I'm in the spoiled crowd that has a ton of softmodded systems, everdrives, flash carts etc. For systems like ps2 and more modern, if I don't play on original hardware I often use pc streaming with a wifi-6 router and quite a lot of things can become a portable gaming system. :). If you haven't tried it yet, EmuVR is a great immersion tool to set the mood for retro gaming and escape the world properly for a few hours.
I'm from Mexico, and since the Deck is not officially available in my region, I'm considering getting one of these, does it gets the job done? I don't even play very demanding titles, I play from the 7th generation to below.
I think I've never heard taki this furious
After seeing this Video the Win600 is done!
I see more bad then good about this device I was considering buying it but ill hold off for another device that's better built. Thanks for being very honest and let the rest of us know. What is a better option then this one around the same price value?

Many games will boot up on incorrect resolutions/aspect ratios and if there is a problem like the one showed in Just Cause, in most cases you can set a lauch command on Steam or just edit a .ini file and work it out.
Man, great review. Battery life is important, no doubt, and in this case, it is main flaw
What should I get the odin pro or the steam deck I've been debating the last few days
I'm so glad I watched this review. There's a too much money to throw at this device for someone to end up with these kinds of issues.
Quite a few Windows PCs, tablets and 2-in-1s, exhibit these same symptoms when plugged in. Even some Flagship models. I've noticed that years ago and it's really annoying.
got my unit today and notice i have a heating issue the fan is not turning on and the unit is overheating on the left side on the screen - I email the company and awaiting for a reply
Update their sending me replacement parts
Hopefully soon I get this thing back on track
would you say this is a better option than the GPD win 2?
I'm about two years latter for a comment like it and i can guess someone already should had mentioned something close to it, but judging by previous experiences i had in about 23 years dealing with tech issues, the cursor/mouse thing you were showing around the 20:30 mark used to happen a lot on cheap laptop PCs. Things like it used to happen due to static and/or bad groundings.
Surely a design flaw, cause it should had been predicted when enginering a portable device that was thought to be used unhooked from anything that could discharge some of its own+user self generated static, even if just for a couple minutes - my guess: no metal parts or/and propper wiring.
Thats a trick i stumbled into many years ago by accident; a thing that can help anyone with similar issues at anytime on any device - being it a touchpad, touch screen, controller or even traditional mouse random flickerings - to troubleshoot it better and pretty simply: took of your shoes and sometime even socks, left aside any carpet and put your bare feet at a cold floor while touching the issued device screen/pad/cursor/control/case (NEVER do it touching its boards and internal hardware EVER!!!).
It should make yourself acting like a ground wire to device and slowly you should be able to see the "crazy pointer"/"not accurate mouse" issue going out until it work as intended - until the device get enough accumulated static again to interfere with its functioning.
How to play nintendo switch games in Anbernic Win600? What emulator do you use?
Finally the review i was waiting for!!!
The screen touch issues are a bad ground plane issue. There’s something wrong with the shielding in the device between its general circuit structure. Perhaps the charging circuit doesn’t have enough of gap between it and more sensitive circuits like the capacitive touch. So that any time you introduce electricity into the unit via charging there’s some kind of electrical bleed. Even if it’s just electro magnetic that is throwing off the touch sensor.
I was doing a multi point of sale installation of iPads for a client. Their old set up had the iPads in metal security cages. But they cheaped out on chargers and cables. They had also tried to secure the cables through the metal cages. This meant that while using the iPads the touch screens would glitch and pull the input half way across the screen from the intended button press. Changed the cables, and removed them from being threaded through the metal security cage. And it fixed it.
For the anbernic the issue is internal on the circuitboard. It’s also possible that because they don’t have an inner metal separating plate to use for RF shielding/grounding.
I’m wondering if inserting a metal shielding layer between pcb and lcd would fix the screen issue. Even EMI foil shielding tape, with a capston tape layer over the top for electrical and heat insulation….
Are you really a John of all trades? 😁

Brutal honest review Taki. That's why I follow you. I had high hopes for this device but I was doubting about the price point. After this, I hope Anbernic won't sell to much and take a good long look in the mirror. If AYN would ship faster, because I just don't believe them anymore, I would pre-order the Loki model. For me personally, I don't need a Steam Deck. I have a good PC but I would love a dedicated device where I can emulate up to PS2. Atm I feel it is far better to wait and see what comes in the near future.
Fools still buying this potato.
Like rg522$ sold out, win600$ will be gone.
That's the problem, many people are so undemanding for the quality.
Buying crap is not cool, not to mention the carbon footprint. Saving for the better, sturdy and reliable product is the key.
It's such a bummer that they couldn't bring the price down a bit further, it seems like they are in a tough spot. They cut just about every corner they could, the build quality, controls quality, screen quality, really low end cpu, single stick of RAM, etc, but still only came in a little below the Steam Deck, which I can say from experience is a very nice device to use. If this is what it takes to get to a sub $400 gaming handheld PC, I simply don't see how any of these companies are going to be able to compete once the Steam Deck is available on store shelves. It really seems the only option is to pull a GPD and do a combo device that is a mini laptop + Gaming handheld, or do what AYA is doing and try to target a higher end device at a higher price. It really feels like the sub $1000 gaming PC handheld market belongs to Valve.
I would like to upgrade the ram do you recomend 16 gb or 32?
Please make a video about win600 vs AYN odin

Weird. I have a certain charger that messes with touch input on my phone like that. Also messes with the fingerprint reader.
Weird audio problems in the emulation section. problem of capture or emulation performance?
Electrical interference between my camera and this device. If you use normal headphones, you would not have that issue.

You should try batocera on win 600 it's incredible battery life also longer and doesn't get hot.. you are going to change your mind about price
Was looking at the CPU and RAM stuff, the 3050 is plenty plenty man enough to tackle gaming environments, in fact you could prob do all of it on 4gb of ram not 8 and its DDR4 too so a much bigger bus than DDR3. Where this would rock is running a Linux build. However the 3050 isn't a hyperthreading CPU and very little about the two Radeon cores on board the CPU either. The CPU itself is a very budget variant of a low end Ryzen 3, OK if you wanted to run PC version Cyberpunk on this it might struggle but the console version of Cyberpunk it would run fairly well due to the very compacted nature of a console's system and execution in comparison to Window's bloatyware environment.
I have no problems with the touch screen of my device while it is connected to the charger.

The one thing they were known for which is build quality is slipping badly.
The 351P, even though plastic, was built like a tank. Sad to see them slump to this POS Win600.
I wonder how running something like ggOS would help the performance of this OS, both in highest frames, lowest frames, and battery life. I would personally want to try this, but like you have said, this device isn't worth buying.
I believe what you're saying but where did you find out the cost of this CPU?
I asked.
@@TakiUdon wow yeah they didn't just cheap out on the single am and the screen plastic frame and the coating-finish, but even the CPU itself. These devices are going to have so many hardware issues
would i get better results just using my surface pro 5 ?
If you have the i7 model, yes. The others I am not sure about.
Sticking with RG350m (and Steam Deck which just arrived!)
So the charging issue is from bad quality/bad materials used in the charging cable. So i used a cex brand usb c cable on my one plus 2 and it started registering ghost touch so i assumed the phone was broken and brought my second phone pixel 2xl and used the same cable and got the same issue.
It only went away after letting the device discharge and charge again with a different cable for things to start behaving properly and it worked. No ghost touch, tested with my first phone and the ghost touch was fixed. I think the issue is bad materials or inpropper fast charge support.
Tfw brought another phone cos a cable was shitty and causing problems.
I swapped type C cables to also verify if that was the issue and it didn't change the outcome... :\
A bad handheld AND anti-consumer practices? I'mma head out (over to better companies)...

Would really like to see PS2 SSX3 on win600. Anyone can please record ?
friend, can you make a video on how to configure the ps3 emulator on this console
This just screams $250 price. $300 maybe given supply issues and being a new design they had to invest time into, but the sticks are awful and the various screen issues really make it a problem child. I’d rather sit in the queue for a Deck, or save my money and go for one of the devices launching at the end of the year. At least if the new ones have similar screen problems, the control layout and APU performance will be much better.
Ah oh, here it comes!!!
some xiaomi entry level android phone have same touchscreen issue when plugged in with some 3rd-party charger.
I purchased 3200mhz 16gb with dual rank. Dual rank is the secret sauce. Since it's a single channel. I want to be the first to do this comparison.
My old Moto G3 always had the same touchscreen issue when it was charging, never figured out where this came from.
No idea how they managed to recreate that old issue, but since they fucked up pretty much everything else on this as well I'm not too surprised.
You see ... sticking a Windows button where they've stuck one tells me that it would be so very damnably easy for these makers to include 6 face buttons.
General public doesnt care about 6 face buttons. Aside from the genesis mega drive and saturn don't really need this tbh. Modern fighting games will accommodate Xbox controller inputs.
I agree with you though, I want it anyway. playing n64 would be nice this way too actually.
You definitely need 6 face buttons playing N64 would be a lot easier.
I never understood bottom firing speakers. EVEN THE CLASSIC GAMEBOY was front firing speaker.... its one reason I love my cellphone, the Sony Xperia 1 Mark 2, because it has front firing speakers. Meaning I can go with less volume when watching content because the audio is directly facing my head as apposed to shooting away from me.
Bottom firing speakers are only excusable if the device is on the bleeding edge to the point that the manufacturer cannot place it up front. For thick devices like this, it's just plain lazyness.
Please could you give me your gc settings because my games are vers slow thanks à lot.

I just bought the 3020e variant. I'm waiting for it to arrive. I would've liked to go for steam deck or some of the Loki Mini, Ayaneo air plus, etc. The problem is... in my country none of them can be bought. How do you like it?
Do you use Batocera?
Same thing where I am on steam deck, its not available locally as yet and the ones on ebay local or importing cost twice as much as the 3050e.

Harsh but fair review. I didn't even know about the Loki device so thanks for pointing me out to that option!
After caving I've decided to go all in with a Steam Deck. I've got my reservation and I'm ready. If it can run PS2 games really well I'll be happy.
Considering I can almost emulate heavier PS2 games at full speed with an ATARI VCS which is a quarter of the performance *at best* it'll crush PS2 emulation.

@@SindyxLotus what is kh3? If it's kingdom hearts 3 then the loki can straight up emulate it as it is a ps3 game. I do think the loki base is more bang for buck then the deck as it has hull sensor sticks and the 6600u which has a better cpu and a equivalent GPU. It's more efficient than the deck in terms of cpu but the GPU needs higher wattage to get the same deck like performance. The loki mini Intel version are the worst ones to buy because intell has no performance at lower tdps and it's almost 400$ even with the mini pro. I can emulate most ps2 games through the 2021 base aya neo, some games aren't perfect but that's more down to the emulator. Steam deck should crush ps2 emulation with the extra power.
I'm still using my RG350M a lot. SNES, GBA games emulation is enough for me.
Anbernic just needs to get his costs under control.
Either they can't produce as cheap as they want to, or they don't want to lower their high margin.
Ain't ever gonna happen, they don't have the manufacturing resources to do so nor can they swallow the production costs like console companies or valve can as they will make that back in games sales.
Steam Deck remains the unchallenged king, just reserve the 300$ or 600$ model be patient and in the mean time safe money.
Taki, is John Snow your real name?
I just couldn't think of a better name for the white one since my other device is called Anberdeck.
