Didn't have time to run through nvidia-settings and hit the two check boxes to force full composition pipeline.
Seemed more like a recording issue rather than an actual computer issue.
@@RAndrewNeal forcing full composition pipeline on nvidia would lower the gpu performance by few percent so definitely not worth using if it's race that is decided by performance(the additional synchronization also causes microstutters in some cases where frames are delayed one or even multiple frames). Forcing full composition pipeline is also completely unnecessary i'm running nvidia gpu myself no composition pipeline my nvidia settings are completely stock and no tearing whatsoever it's just about which DE you use or if you don't use DE like me it depends on how you set up your environment
@@VitisCZ On my Ubuntu machine, I have to use it. And even then, I get some tearing. On my Arch machine, I don't think I have it turned on, and I don't get screen tearing. Both have Nvidia GPUs and proprietary drivers.

His mistake was using a Gnome based distro. He should've used KDE Neon, Manjaro or openSUSE Leap KDE.

His issues was he chose a Debian based distro and didn't make sure his driver was up to date, wouldn't have happened with an arch or other "bleeding edge" gaming focused distro (i.e. Manjaro)

@@starrymohannad Because NVIDIA drivers for linux systems are an afterthought pile of crap and require fine tuning. Combine that with Pop_Os and it's a recipe for tearing and nonsense. My older machine from 2013 has nvidia card and boy oh boy, despite the increased stability of 7 years worth of bugfixes, that card still performs poorly under linux. Some NVIDIA execs decided to be bags of dicks years ago and so here we are.

@@V1CT1MIZED actually games crashes wayyyyyy less in linux, if I have crashing problems in a game on windows I use linux instead and it usually never crash. tearing is settings..
@@V1CT1MIZED the reason the game crashed and had aweful tearing was because Anthony chose to install pop os which is Ubuntu based, meaning it didn't have the latest Nvidia drivers installed at first boot. If he took the time to update the driver there wouldn't have been tearing or crashes. Or he could've installed Manjaro which would've installed the latest Nvidia drivers during installation and again wouldn't have tearing or crashing.
Linux users are the best at coming out with excuses I'll give you that. I've had similar crashes on arch and manjaro. Yet none on Windows and all hardware has been stability tested for over 24 hours. This video was Linux to a tee. Anyone can spend time to fix these issues yes, but for what? Less performance, less software and support etc. The average user is not going to do these things and this video was setup up in away like an average user would and it was bad. Yeah it can be fixed, but I and millions other would rather play games and not fix things after work

I've been recently watching a lot of Linus tech videos, originally i started to watch because I wanted to know how to upgrade my CPU, and now I am nonstop watching these pc build videos and can't help to wonder what it is you guys do with all these pc's like the pc build in the smallest case, or the ones on this video. if it doesn't get placed in someone's hands then do you guys just strip the parts and store them away?

I would like to see you use this kind of build to show how much tweaking can improve gaming performance. Benchmark the stock build. Then take the time to tweak the CPU, memory and GPU to the max stable possible. I would love to see gaming benchmarks before and after.

If you live in north america, you can get decent gaming machine with AMD Ryzen 3 2200G and rx 570 under 300 dollars. Ram and everything else not included. But I do understand your pain. A lot of countries have high taxes of higher end PC parts and that makes building your own extremely expensive. Even on lower end, cheapest modern hardware.

I’d love to be able to build a PC someday soon. I’ve always gotten one (usually second hand) and then updated a few things. But have never been fortunate enough to be able to buy everything separately and then build it... maybe one day soon. Hard to do being a single father and having to work crazy hours, but I’ll definitely be checking out videos from these guys for tips, etc. once i’m able to build a PC of my own

It's true that the distro of choice impact performance, some are bloated other are ultra light but require more tinkering.
I remember having a solid experience on SolusOS , my nvidia GPU was well recognized on it.
Artix or Manjaro could have been a sharper choice depending of the skill level of Anthony.
Who else saw the recording tear on Anthony's pc, but on Linus' it was smooth
Probably driver issues. I always have problems when recording on Linux
It also crashed so I mean... probably stability and OS problems

since i saw that i couldn't think of anything else !
in case someone is streaming or recording i would suggest staying with Windows
