The boys were trrully U-17 . Victor Igbinoba was my classmate at Western Boys High School , Benin - City . Victor Igbinoba came from a very poor home and left for the tournament from a mud house at No 9 Uyiekpen Street , Akpakpava ., Benin - City . Igbinoba took his studies serious but not so for Kingsley Aikhionbare , who was years afta , stabbed to death in London On Igbinobas return from China , Flash Flamingoes of Benin , signed l him with the sum of #48,000.

Ugbade the first blak person to lift fifa trophy. Most memory moment in my life watching football before Atlanta 96. This monent Ugbade lifted the cup used to herald the NTA network news for very long while growing up in the 80s

Nigeria most times don't appreciate their heroes. It's totally unfair to these players who sacrificed so much for the country. I remember Nduka Ugbade scoring the equalizer against USSR at the Saudi '89 U-20 World Cup that was called the "Damman Miracle". He was playing with an injury, yet he found courage to overlap and score that goal (he played as a defender if I can remember correctly). His goal made it 4-4 and Nigeria went on to win 5-4 on penalties. They eventually lost to a Luis Figo inspired Portugal team but the Nigerian team had once again reminded the World of the fact that Nigeria is a Footballing nation.

Nigeria finished the final against Germany with 10 players after one of the defensive midfielder was red carded by the central referee. .the sports ministry should reward these guys with cash after decades of a glorious history.
