Can Average Russians Afford ANY Gadgets Or Appliances After Sanctions Hitting The Russian Market?

- It was hard to buy gadgets and appliances after sanctions in 2014, now it’s even harder in 2022. Of course, there is a reason for that, and we all understand what the reason is. However, I hope you understand that the reason of making this video is neither about complaining, nor about discussing these reasons. We know some Russians are not encouraging the actions going on. But the ones that do make a lot of people lose their smile. Including a friend of mine... in case that isn't clear. They died. It's going to be a long and complicated decade to come.

In my opinion iPhone is not an essential, its just marketing tricks, life goes smoothly with Android also
Look my friend, SOMEONE has to pay for all that marketing! ;o)

@@RobIn-ky4uz - I agree, for older folks such as myself (and maybe you), but for the younger set, a decent phone is a status symbol and pretty essential. Yes we're all suffering because of this stupid War! Yes I said it, WAR.
Apparently that's all anybody can talk about is how crappy the prices are now. And yet there's people in other countries🇺🇦 who don't even have homes any more, and are dying for freedom. Let's not mention that or even think about it.😔 I am a subscriber, and I do like your videos. Even if you delete this comment, I will still watch your videos. I hope this can all end soon.
Exactly it’s a War
We need to say this

@TITANN Show your comments before 24 February 2022 about Donetsk & Lugansk. Heck while you're at it show some about Palestine, Yemen, Libya, the list goes on.
First if you have paid attention right from the beginning the Russian citizens weren't even told what was going on in Ukraine. Second you would have seen they tried to protest against what was happening and you seen what happened to them. Let's all remember that the common hard working people all across the world has very little if any say in what their government's do so to get upset with them for what's going on is just plain stupid. As for your remark about calling it a war they can't even talk about it without having to worry about the repucushons from the government. So again let's try and remember these hard working people in Russia or any other place in the world has no say in what their government does so why would anyone want to lash out at them.
@@gdzpseudi You would have been fine living under Hitler’s Germany with that kind of rationalization. “Average Germans” did the most damage then, as average Russians are doing now.

I think a million Russians in red square would change things pretty fast . It worked in east Germany when the police could not cope. Of course it is interesting seeing what is happening in Russia today but the Russian people have to own what is happening. It will affect their children and grandchildren . What is happening wont be forgotten in a hurry by the rest of the world.
Exact ! To have an action you need a mass mobilization and not an elderly person with a poster. There is an expression that says ''It takes balls'' Obviously, young Russians don't have any!

Thanks for continuing to do the videos, and keeping your spirits up. It's well known that sanctions are not as descriminant as they idealy would be. Mariupol. In this city, everyone is constantly waiting for death.
NADEZHDA SUKHORUKOVA
resident of Mariupol
I go outside in between bombings. I need to walk the dog. It constantly whines, trembles, and hides behind my legs.
I want to sleep all the time. My yard, surrounded by high-rise buildings, is quiet and dead. I'm no longer afraid to look around.
Opposite, the entrance to the one hundred and fifth house is burning down. The flames have devoured five floors and are slowly chewing on the sixth. In the room, the fire is burning gently, as in a fireplace.
Black charred windows stand without glass. From them, like tongues, curtains gnawed by flames are falling out. I am looking at it calmly feeling doomed to die.
I'm sure I'll die soon. It's a matter of days.
In this city, everyone is constantly waiting for death. I just wish it wasn't too scary.
Three days ago, a friend of my older nephew came to us and said that there was a direct hit on the Fire station. The rescuers died. One woman had her arm, leg, and head torn off.
I wish that my body parts remain in place, even after the explosion of an air bomb.
I don't know why, but it seems important to me. Although, on the other hand, they will still not be buried during the bombing going on. This is how the police answered us when we caught them on the street and asked what to do with our friend’s dead grandmother. They advised us to put her on the balcony.
I wonder how many more balconies there are with dead bodies laid down?
Our house on Mir (Peace) Avenue is the only one that has escaped direct hits. It has nearly escaped twice when hit by shells, windows flew out in some apartments, but it was hardly damaged, compared to other houses, and it looks lucky.
The entire yard is covered in layers of ash, fragments of glass, plastic, and metal.
I am trying not to look at the huge iron structure that has landed on the children’s playground. I think it's a rocket, or maybe a mine. I don't care, it's just annoying. In the window of the third floor, I see someone's face and I flinch in fright. It turns out that I'm afraid of living people.
My dog starts howling and I understand that now they will shoot again.
I am standing in the daytime on the street, and there is complete cemetery-like silence around me. There are no cars, no voices, no children, no grandmothers on benches. Even the wind died.
However, there are still a few people here. They are lying near the side of the house and in the parking lot, covered with outerwear. I don't want to look at them. I'm afraid I'll see someone I know.
All life in my city has been smoldering in basements. It reminds me of a flickering candle in our basement compartment. It is so easy to put it out. Any vibration or a gentle breeze and darkness will come.
I am trying to cry, but I can't. I feel sorry for myself, my family, my husband, my neighbors, my friends.
I go back to the basement and listen to the vile iron rattle there. Two weeks have passed, and I no longer believe that there was once another life here.
In Mariupol, people continue to sit in the basements. Every day it is getting harder for them to survive. They have no water, no food, no light, they cannot even go outside because of the constant shelling.
Mariupol residents must live. Help them. Tell everyone about it. Let everyone know that civilians continue to be killed.
Thank you sir! Both of you were great. Thank you so much for showing us what is happening in Russia nowadays. Maybe you can make one comparison with clothes that are sold in the past and nowadays?

Yeah Russia stopped the atrocities being committed by the Ukrainians on the people of Donbass. Unfortunately for the 14k people of Donbass since 2014 and 40 or more ethnic Russians burned alive by the Ukrainians in Odessa Massacre of 2014 it was already too late.
@@tripsadelica Oh, we’re going to have a huge problem with Russian people if Putin’s rampages don’t stop soon! Russians are already pariahs on the world’s stage, and no amount of their “positivity” will save them from their new pariah status.
Smile and the world smiles with you !! THANK YOU
Great presentation, enjoyed watching very much! Thank you kindly.
The prices are going up everywhere, the value of the items hasn't changed.... it's just greed.
Those iPhone prices are 10-20% higher than in the Netherlands, but the average salary here (before taxes ~37%) is approx 5 times higher than what you mentioned for the Moscow salaries. So that's insane.
And.. think about this, the normal Russian makes 800USD in one Month average. 2000USD for a TV is absolut insane high.
All products around the world increases. It started at the start of the COVID19 pandemic. The war will only affect certain foods. For the Russians, all consumer goods will increase drastically in the coming weeks. The effects of economic sanctions. The rarity will be part of it.
The prices of gadgets are not increasing in the Netherlands. They are either stable or decreasing over time as newer models appear (i.e. normal price development).
@@BobWitlox It's normal, you are a stable country and you have an enviable credit rating (AAA).
Diesel & unleaded petrol for cars , vans trucks etc have gone up in UK since the conflict in Ukraine.
We paying average £1:70 per liter.
Which is about €2:2 or $ 2:4 USD
I visited Russia in 1993. It happened because I had a Russian penpal through a United Nations organization which began in 1988. Eventually I visited my Russian friend and his family. They lived in Saint Petersburg. It was a hard time for the Russian people and my host was extremely generous. I have always loved Russian literature, and St. Petersburg although frayed was a fascinating place. I like the Russian people but I am very worried about the situation in Ukraine and the repercussions for all. The Russian people are long-suffering and always under the boot of the strong leader. I know many Russians, especially older Russians are unaware of the devastating events happening in Ukraine. It is a horrible tragedy. The country and its people are being destroyed. And I fear the relationship between Ukraine and Russia is forever altered. It appears you have a new Czar.
Of course Russians are unaware, especially the old ones, and lucky for us in the west we are fully aware. On the basis of that awareness, we dream the dreams of the just, and come with all sorts of dribble in the morning.
In the West we are so much better because we don't have czars ?
But we have the much more subtle Society of the Spectacle !
And we just had two years of brainwashing and tyranny for a friggin virus that killed 0,01% of the people, mostly old obese people who had a few years left in them at most. And that could have been prevented with cheap vitamin D instead of enriching the corrupt chemical/medical industry further !
You love "strong man/leader" you get big boot. Putin is undoing everything he did to get the country performing after the Yeltsin economy.
@@miyamotomasao3636 You could have sounded more intelligent had you learned a bit more about biological or medical sciences before claiming that "cheap vitamin D" would have been the answer. (I'm not saying vitamin D doesn't help. It does! I'm simply saying vitamin D, or C, or zinc alone is not a substitute for vaccines.)
Or perhaps some basic math? There have been roughly 1 million COVID deaths in the US and roughly 80 million infections, and so the mortality rate is 1.25%. What's that? The number of infections would be much greater than 80 millions? True, so let's assume all 330 million people in the US have had Covid, and that would yield a mortality rate of roughly 0.3%. Mortality rates in other Western countries are pretty similar, so where did you get the 0.01%?
And if you think requiring you to wear a face mask on an airplane or in an indoor public place is "tyranny", what word would you use to describe places where the cops can drag you off the street for simply holding a blank piece of paper?

Hey Zangieff!
There's a saying: haters gonna hate.
Some people are never going to like whatever it is you do, because it's impossible to please everybody.
These days of course (or not just these days), a lot of people have a hard time trying to take off the political glasses for a moment and open their mind to others.
For the record: you guys became full-blown capitalists when you started buying stuff on credit. Debt is what's keeping millions of people all over the world enslaved in poverty and I try to avoid it as best I can.
iPhone 13 at RUB150.000 equates to EUR 1.285.
A quick internet search tells me that phone is for sale for around EUR 850 in my country.
Better hold on to your phone Zangieff, it's going to be very valuable.
I heard that 95% of very important medicines have to be imported to Russia from western democracies. If these can still be imported at all, they will be immeasurably expensive. Even darker times are ahead. Anyway, thank you for your insights.
I believe most medicines and medical equipment have been excluded from sanctions.
I've never heard of sanctions ever touching basic needs comodities like food or medicines (as it should be for them to be moral). Sadly you're probably right about the uncontrollable price increases though.
