Hi - Good to hear from you. You are writing in Portuguese? So, you are from Portugal or a colony? Brazil? Your prices sound like New Zealand prices. Cheers, Cliff

Useful comparision and appreciate the content and time being put into doing the videos. I'm still very much in the learning stages of home machining but having a great time learning, exploring and pushing new skills. Cheers - James (NZ).

Nice comparison. I probably lean towards the high quality devices even though my hobby work probably doesn’t justify it. But it makes me feel good...

As only a hobbyist I'd be a fool trying to argue anything against your hands on decades of professional experience Cliff. Most of my precision metrology equipment including the dti's are Mitutoyo and I seem to have pretty good luck with what they make. For North America and today I believe about the best dti's made are either the .00005" reading B & S or the Compac. It's quite likely there's other European brands that might be just as good to possibly even better. I've got very few Chinese made measuring tools and only use them for rougher work. I'll seldom buy an unknown brand because of that same unknown quality from batch to batch you mentioned. And yes I do know some of the high end equipment is also made in China. Except it has to pass a lot better quality controls. With the cheaper equipment one persons good results don't automatically mean you'll do as well with what you buy for the exact same equipment. So I've tried to buy the best I can afford. That of course limits how much I can buy.
I also can't add resolution and accuracy after buying. Most of my linear reading dial indicators are either .001" or .0005" except for one single Mitutoyo branded but made for them by Mahr millimess dial indicator. My vertical and horizontal Mit. dti's are in 10ths. Yes as usual your quite correct that most times that level of accuracy isn't needed day to day. But I also use this equipment to double check anything I buy for the shop no matter who makes it or how much it costs. QC mistakes can and do happen with the best manufacturers in the world. So I'd rather buy higher resolution and accuracy than needed so it's available when it really is needed. Even fairly good higher end metrology equipment is still only guaranteed to be within + - one division. Fwiw to anyone else, anything I've checked that Mitutoyo makes against a set of there gauge blocks almost always is well under that allowance. One single dial indicator of there's was towards the upper end of there guaranteed accuracy. To me that shows excellent and very consistent QC.

Thanks for your thoughts TP - I have a plunger style Compac, I have read it is number one, I should have included it in the video. Cheers Cliff

Hi mate @threadexpress , i want to increase the stem length of the shahe. I beleive shahe stem is removable. I saw some on sale in alixpress. Can you measure the thread size of the stem? Is it 1.6mm or 1.8mm ? Thanks mate

Hi. I found a mini wrench and unscrewed the stem. It measures 1.7mm diameter, so that is probably the clearance on a 1.8 thread. I assume you realize changing the stem length will change the ratio and the graduations will be incorrect.? Cheers, Cliff

@@Threadexpress thank you. Yes i realize that. The reason why i want to change the stem from 17mm to 40mm is i will insert the stem inside the sparkplug hole of motorcycle and find its TDC. the dial indicator with max 0.2mm should fit. im just after the movement of the dial to see piston is on TDC. Unless you have better idea :-)
