i mean I hope that everything I post is somewhat interesting to all musicians so maybe
@@GeorgeCollier It's always brain food! Thanks so much.
@@GeorgeCollier Yeah, your videos are fantastic!
@@GeorgeCollier how are you related to Jacob Collier?
@@_Dwarkin im not
Joe Dart is straight up the reason I went from thinking about learning the bass to actually buying one and getting started
Same! I just picked up a fender squire Jazz Bass couple months ago. Slow on progress butstill practicing lol
@@michjackfan1534 hell yeah! Squier PJ for me
I now wanna learn the bass as wlel
For me it was Jaco, which is where a lot of this solo gets its foundation.
Same! Although, there was some Jaco and Victor Wooten mixed in there for me as well.
It is absolutely WILD to me that there's almost no way he heard all of the musicians come back on stage but could trust them to be ready to his that down beat
Most likely the product of rehearsing it. A lot of doing stuff like that is trusting people to do their part so he probably wasn't worried
I didn’t even notice this but yeah damn
Well, there's a little silence before the down beat, so it's much easier start at the right tempo
He cued them in when he changed the groove, eight bars and then they jumped in.
It seems more like he pauses and waits for them actually. Joe Dart starts up again immediately AFTER the drummer starts, like he's listening for a cue. I assume if they were late he would just keep waiting until he hears that first cymbal hit.
The wiggles really stepped up their game since last time I saw them
💀
That was awesome
🗿
For those who want to know, the track they break into at the end is Beastly - it's basically a huge bass solo, Joe Dart is crazy in every version you'll find
@efe berkay köroğlu £10 says the mythical being is actually Joe Dart
But it's Cory Wong at first.
Doesn't get sassier than Joe Dart... But It Gets Funkier (I-IV)
Me reading this without glasses: what kind of funk is HIV…OOHHH
Me after watching Charles Berthoud's video on bass solos: *visible confusion*
Nice
Every time it gets funkier, it gets funkier.
Apparently you have never heard of Victor Wooten.
For how cold that gig looks, playing that accurate and that fast is impressive as hell.
There are heating ducts laid out across the stage.
could you explain the relevance of temperature to accuracy to a non-bassist
@@frostyfrog3018 Its harder to play if your hands are cold, same with any instrument really.
@@oyc7946 oh lol i knew that i just thought it had something to do with the toughness of the strings or smthing idk
@@frostyfrog3018 When you're playing in an environment that cold, your hands just don't move right. I've found that especially when your strings get cold, it transfers a lot of that cold air to your fingers and makes it really difficult to play with any sort of finesse.
I don't difference what is more badass.
The solo or their costumes?
Is "I don't difference" a reference I'm not getting, or did you mean "I don't know"? 😛
"don't difference" -> "can't tell", "don't know", "can't differentiate"
Just a friendly tip from a native speaker, we're all learning.
Definitely both.
I was at this concert! I think that they tried to get these skiing jumpsuits because there was a freak springtime snowstorm that year. Hilarious.
Oosc clothing :-)
I was at that concert, it was the middle of May and really fuckin cold. I need to see those ski suits one more time before I die
I was at this concert! It was literally the best show I’ve ever seen. Cory Henry and Khruangbin opened, then we got this masterpiece (along with others of course) then the show closed with the fearless flyers doing their own little set
I opened for Cory Henry the next night!
Khruangbin...AND Vulfpeck?!
I was there too I think! Red rocks right? badass performances all around.
@@kendallburks Yep! That’s the one!
Damn
You know you are a badass bassist when everyone leaves the stage and you just lay down some sick solos....
Joe Dart is one of the most influential bassists out there at the moment, he inspired a shit ton of people to learn to play bass which is not an easy thing to do. The man lives and breathers groove, I love him so fucking much
Unless you’ve seen joe play live you will never fully be able to comprehend his level of fluency and skill it is unbelievably. So thankful I got to see him and vulfpeck live.
that makes you so much better than the rest of us, congrats.
jaco, victor and bona are my top 3 list.
Jaco can play better than joe Even in a fretless bass
i can't comprehend him on a screen, what makes you think seeing him live will improve my chances lol
Loved how they perfectly matched the tempo changes too
1:05 i love it when basses do that
When they stop playing?

When the rest of the band's late, the bassist's like "I got this"
It’s crazy that vulfpeck has arguably two of the best musicians of their generation on the strings
Joe Dart inspired me to quit bass
Lame, just practise
@@fredriknerli9197 you should “practise” your english
@@HelloHello-vk5ob 'practice' is a noun, the verb IS 'practise'
Only in American English is 'practice' both a verb and noun.
So maybe you should practise YOUR English :p
@@TsureMure lol relax dude, no need to kill him
This solo reminds me of a jaco solo in the track havona with weather report but this actual song name and bassline is spankalee by the infamous herbie Hancock
love all the content you put on CZcams, my whole band listens and watches your videos
I've never seen a bass take the show so hard.
Vulfpeck. The whole band are fucking amazing. But everyone ends up fawning over Joe Dart.
Go watch the madison square garden concert. He dominates that show so hard
I kept wondering when the solo was gonna turn into a duet...
Then I realised that the bottom stave was for tabs, not a second player
the transitions were absolutely mental!
There's a Frank Zappa's feeling at the end of the song. Can't love it more.
Yes its that 70s Dorian Vibe ^-^ !!
The song is called beastly
My bass is definitely sexualy unsatisfied with me now
The tone is great. He makes it so funky
I love this man's energy
free download with the tab?!!? all hail george
Your description is spot on: "Joe Dart makes me want to learn bass and give up before I even start."
This man, is just, amazing
That is one beastly solo
Superb !!
Great solo and really jammy and driving when the rest of the band in came in on it. Love the matching pajamas too.
Daaaaaaaamn! I can't even *_think_* music as fast as this guy plays!
perfectly what I needed
Wow any video game you put this track in is going to ROCK.
Everything this guys posts is so amazing and entertaining and really makes me think about and see music in a new way.
seeing tab on this channel made me happy, something i can actually read :)
Wow incredible
was not expecting vulfpeck!
That is just too cool!
That head bop though. Epic solo
That head-bop has become so iconic they incorporated it into his "Peanuts" version in the cartoon "A Very Vulfy Christmas".
love the beat drop
This bassist is so good!
I'm glad you have now seen the vulf
GOOSEBUMPS 😮💨🤯 right at the end
that was awesome
What instrument do you play George? Are you basing tabs off some knowledge of the bass, or by looking at Joe's positioning? (I ask mostly because your transcriptions span quite a range of instruments)
I play piano and trumpet
@@GeorgeCollier Doubly good job then.
His brother just tells him the notes and rhythm in real time.
@@GeorgeCollier I am also George and I also play trumpet. The difference between us is that you have ears and I dont
What the hell this sounds sick
1:47 man just started a praise break all of a sudden
Jokes aside, man, the tone, the technique, it's just something out of this world
joe dart is seriously killer man, the first time i heard his lines on cory wong i was hooked
Those fills man. So fucking tasteful
Time acceleration was tight and interesting.
Never heard this song before, but 2 seconds in I knew it was Vulfpek ! So unique
yessssssssssss I love this soloooooooooooo
He be hitting it man. That guitar must be on fire
JORGE UPLOADED
GREAT!
Awesome^^
i could tell by the sunglasses alone that this was a joe dart vid
MY MAN
Joe Dart is a king
For a moment it sounded like Darwin derby. Man this is awesome
NICE!!!!!
Epico!
At first i was thinking this was someone I didn't know. Then it started to get into Dart territory and the band walks out! Had me there for a second!
Awesome
Joe Dart taught me to always groove at full strength
1:57 that part is so fucking deliciousss
my god this needs some freestyle alto sax in there. crying out for it in fact.
Yes I was at this show it was fantastic, but I really regret missing Vulfpeck with Knower at Red Rocks in 2018!
Joe Dart is the reason I picked my bass up again after 10 years.
Even with the poor quality audio you can hear the most badass snare sound ever!
I want to play bass like this one day
we love joe
Too cool ! I was at this show! Red Rocks 30 degrees out. I want to where they got the snow suits.
Vanilla Ice called. He wants his wardrobe back.
I'd recognize that head bop anywhere!
Let’s go joe dart!
Wow, I’ve never seen a bass lead a band like this!
All hail, THE KING!
More joe!!
When you gotta entertain the crowd but then the squad pulls up
HEAT
Top-notch fretwankery.
Vulfpeck, nice
0:38 Reminds me of Hang up your hang ups (Herbie Hancock)
For someone trying to learn how to read standard notation it helps immensely to use the tabs as a way to check
YES VULFPECK ON THIS CHANNEL
Joe 💕
GOAT
He knows what he just did. He knows
i knew i recognized the sound. vulfpeck.
Got i love Doe Jart
This is FUNKY
EPIC
If I saw this live I would’ve fainted
very strong mononeon vibes with the outfits and all
This bass solo is so sassy it just rolled its eyes at me.
That's pretty awesome for a bunch of guys still in their pyjamas
The beginning bit reminds me of the bass from “Could You Be Loved” By: Bob Marley!
As soon as I saw the title, I knew it could only be Joe Dart.
