- Spring carp fishing from the bank at a small lake. According to the armchair experts, it takes no skill to catch carp because they will eat anything. See my reaction in this video. More fishing videos, carp bait recipes, fishing gear list, and other good stuff linked below. Thanks for watching.

If you enjoyed the video, you can show your thanks by sharing it on your socials, thanks.
"My fish is better that your fish" said the 5 year old 😆
As I’m getting older, I prefer to wait and have the fish find me than expending the energy moving around looking for them. You’re my inspiration. Keep the videos coming. Appreciate the work that goes into them.
I hear ya, the enjoyment is the important part. Glad you enjoy the videos, thank you!
Hi Tom. I am watching your videos for a long time from South-Africa and learned a lot. Carp fishing is not just luck. You need knowledge and skills to catch carp consistently. Thanks for posting your video's.
Glad you enjoy the videos, thanks. I like the way you guys in SA fish for carp.
I’ve been made fun of plenty of times this year since I started carp fishing but who cares I haven’t caught any fish that fights harder than they do keep it up Tom love your videos!
Thanks Sean!
That was very skillful how you got the first fish free from the snag!😉 Carp and catfishing from the bank are the most enjoyable to me! The skill level is the same as several other forms of fishing. What it lacks is the need for a $30,000 boat, hundreds of $$ in lures and 300 different rod and reel combinations. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
I've spent 10 years honing my skill on Carp, and I always learn more. It takes knowledge and patience. Thanks for all the low key videos, no hooting and yelling, just the love of the sport, and the fish. (I like the sarcasm in this one, by the way.)
Glad you enjoy the videos, thanks!
Tom, enjoyed a good chuckle over your response to the couch professor. Yes, catfish will bite on about anything. I started fishing with my grandfather back in the early 1950's. Yup, I'm a geezer. Having run out of bait, he placed two nicotine laden filters off of cigarette butts, placed them on the hook, cast them into the catfish hole and in five minutes had a nice eater. He repeated that process and within fifteen or twenty minutes or so had three nice eater fish on the bank. Go Figger, huh?
Couch professor, haha, I like that. Thanks sharing the story, Kenny.
People suck. That's all there is to it. That guy that made that comment is the kind of guy that leaves trash on the bank and snags other people's lines. On a positive note, I enjoy your videos!!!
Glad you enjoy the videos, thanks Scott!
Carp is a game fish everywhere else but US. Pack bait, spodding or bait is not an important debate. Love your videos!
I agree, glad you enjoy the videos, thanks!
Great fishing story Tom! I love the input from ignorant fisherman; "Carp don't fight at all, they are just dead weight when you reel them in.", "Carp are easy to catch, all you need is a hook and a piece of corn." bwahahahah. I'm out again tomorrow, using that new Tom's Tackle that I got, great stuff!!!
Thanks James, I hope that new tackle serves you well. Good luck!
Wow, I saw the title of this episode and nearly had a stroke...lol! I was "what did he just say?!"! After watching a couple minutes and hearing
the commentary about "Mr. BLOCKHEAD" I finally settled down. Wow, I was in a panic... Thank you for producing these videos. I eagerly await every episode. Tails up and tight lines to you! Thanks again and keep up the excellent work!
Sorry if I got your blood pressure up, sometimes I can lay the sarcasm on pretty thick. Glad you enjoy the videos, thanks for watching!
Another great video Tom. Nothing like that drag singing to get you going! Been bank fishing carp/cats for years and lots of fun, especially when a really big one hits.
Thanks Ron!
Tom you hit every nail on the head about carp fishing! love the videos glad we have another ally in wildwater carp fishing
Glad you like them, thanks!
Another instructive video with a lot of quality content and beautiful shots. 👏👏👏 I recently caught my first carp (on bolo rod, float and corn grain), but I would like to cast less, so your technique works great for me, because I would like to take a book with me when fishing... Greetings from Serbia. p.s. Sorry for my poor English.
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks. Your English is better than a lot of Americans.
Just fish to have fun!!!!
I fish for bass, trout, and carp. Carp are usually the biggest and hardest fighting by far, and very fun to fish for. The one thing i have against carp is the taste, it may have been the lake I fished at but to me they tasted muddy. Love your videos and I use your packbait recipes, they're great!
I'm glad to see the bite has started. Great video.
Thanks, Steve!
As always great video Tom!
The only thing I disagree with is sharpening my hooks it’s never failed me but I also don’t use chemically sharpened hooks. Just because I disagree doesn’t mean we can’t be friends 😂 doesn’t mean that your opinion is invalid.
Hey, if you want to hook less fish why would I care? 😁 Thanks Clayton.
🤣 You’re welcome brotha!
I actually just fished an online carp tournament and I gave you a shout out! I won it with 11 carp!
Another good video Tom, the title caught my attention also some people are just clueless . When people ask me what I am fishing for and I tell them carp, their first question is why and I tell them they are the best game fish around. That really confuses them. Thanks for the video
Ha, I usually just say I'm fishing for catfish to avoid the whole interrogation about why I'm fishing for carp.
@@OutsidewithTom Yes been there and done that also.
Dam tom now im depressed ! I just found out im not good at anything. Liked the video brother have a good one.
Haha, thanks Tom!
people always say they accidentally catch carp. I ask them to catch a big one on purpose
Bingo
Thanks Tom another great video
Thanks again!
Good video I have any of you guys used bobbers I fish the Mississippi in St Louis and have caught some massive carp and especially buffalo when I'm in shallow water but when I'm catfishing deep holes I see them surfacing but I never get bit fishing on the bottom
I have never caught a mirror Carp can’t wait to
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it!
👌
I mean, being able to catch fish without any skill or effort sounds fine by me. Sometimes you just want to get on fish or fill the freezer.
We need video a bout how base mix recipe for boilies🙏🏻
I've made several videos about that. Find them here czcams.com/play/PLkZ5nam-TWIvHk1fTpqBB__urgI54EU8f.html
I put three rods in this morning went to open my energy drink fish on little ways in second rod starts going first one was a tank easy 10 lber got him up start fighting second fish got him up immediatly third rod went i was so overwhelmed caught six in total most successful day in maybe 4 5 hrs
Congrats!
Sometimes if you are hooking fish near the outside of the mouth and on the outside it can mean your hook length is a little short. Under 6 in hook lengths can make it easier for large carp to eject the rig also as it doesn’t go all the way back to where they filter the waste from the food in the back of their throats. Not trying to sound like a know it all, just something that has helped me. But its not as hard as catfish fishing so you could instead challenge yourself and put on a 8/0 hook and hotdog rig instead, lol.
Thanks Scott. Have you been watching Matthew Collins videos? There was another viewer suggesting the same idea to me about leader lengths not too long ago, said he learned that from Matthew Collins. I have basically the opposite opinion on leader length, for a couple reasons. Long leaders leave enough slack in the line to allow the carp to sit there and shake their head and spit the hook without ever pulling against the weight of the sinker and setting the hook. I've seen this happen on underwater video on the "Underfishing" channel. They use long leaders. Maybe check that one out if you're interested. I also don't tuck the hook bait into the pack, so I wouldn't want the hook bait to be 8 inches away from the pack. Obviously we all catch fish, so I don't think there's a definite right or wrong way here, both ways work. More than one way to catch a carp. 😀
Have you experimented with bigger or smaller hooks?
Yep. Here's a video about hooks czcams.com/video/y09VvwpLp3o/video.html
Also been meaning to ask you have you ever had a pole drug in I have never talked to a Carp fisherman that hasn’t
Set your drag right and you won't have to worry about that
I've never had a rod pulled in the water, but definitely had a few close calls.
Funny story, I was bass fishing at the lake by my house. Ended up hooking somebody’s rod that got pulled into the water. It was an ugly stick bait caster just regular medium action bass rod.
Clean the rod, cleaned the real. The real was shot but still kinda worked so I put 30 pound mono cranked the drag down. It was my first carp rod I started to use the bolt rig for carp and my goal was to push the rod to its limits. Just muscle carp in.
I probably caught like 30 carp that summer. Towards the end of the year, I had the rod leaning on a rock and a carp took a back in the water.
Those ugliest stick GX2 are unbreakable can’t do much when the rod gets pulled into the water
Sorry to say I had the experience a couple of weeks ago. I must have forgotten to se the secondary drag after tightening up the line or something, and had stepped away to work on a snagged line. When I turned back, there it went. I almost got there. Using a barbless hook and hopefully the fish was able to spit it before long.
The amount of people that are just flat out UNEDUCATED about carp but choose to speak about them anyway.. Just blows my mind.
There was a time when people would scoff at catfish and want the carp, too, though.. So i guess idiocy just never ends, it just changes. 🤷😂
Carp will forever be the best fish in the lake..its a shame people are too dumb to appreciate them.
Bingo. In psychology that's called the Dunning-Kruger effect. The people who are the most ignorant about a particular subject tend to be the most opinionated and confident in their knowledge about that subject. They don't know what they don't know. As far as carp fishing goes, that's just fine by me. Makes me like the fish even more.
My almond and vanilla tiger nuts both finally turned slimy after about 2 month
They get better with age. 👍
You forgot to remind the guy who didn’t understand Carp fishing that why bother catching five or 10 bass that might weigh 2lbs when you can catch 5 or 10 Carp that way 20. That guy was a blockhead. It’s OK if you call him a blockhead. He was definitely a blockhead
Certified blockhead for sure.
The guy hasn't felt the drug of the tug
