Happy with the presentation but the structure of it could've been so much better, part of that is due to my PC being crappy and refusing to give me proper playback.
At first, I liked it and though it's going good it fell apart.
Gamer sickness got me good last night, didn't think I'd be able to "finish it"
but I pushed through as much as I can and wanted to be done with this so I don't have to worry too much.
Based on how this video will be received I'll try to do CB with the improved structure if not, I'll stick with smaller videos.
This took me a whole week to make and I'm so proud of the presentation.

why is your character so ugly
Yeah, gotta tone that hair contrast down
I have nearly 200 hours of SNS in Rise and somehow had no idea that Advancing slash gives some temporary Flinch Free. Was just gonna watch this to support you, but I learned something new! Thanks for the great content as always.
This proves how much better guides made by real experts with a weapon are. Thanks a lot for taking the time to make this, it was extremely helpful!
Best SNS guide so far on youtube. Great format, clear enough to properly understanding everything. Thanks for the guide!
That Tigrex fight near the end was non stop damage, I've never seen SnS do so much attacks alongside with evading attacks and dishing out damage. Such a fluid weapon, I'll try to remember what was shown in the video 😁 Thank you 😊
Hunter : Can i have a raw weapon, can do elemental damage, can do KO damage, have i-frame move, have counter move, sick ass anime move set and can use healing item fast.
Capcom :YES!
don't forget the shield for emergencies, and combos that let you ignore all sharpness management-- it doesn't get comfier than this
the illustration at 9:33 changed my life thank you Harv-E
sometimes when I pause the video to read, the bottom line of the text gets covered up by the youtube UI
still a great guide, inspires me to learn the weapon!
Forgot about the UI getting in the way, I'll make sure to move the text little higher for the next videos and pause the video playing in the background whenever I can so it would be less distracting.
For some sections I had to let the video play in the background so the text would be more relevant.
Thanks for the support.
tip for the guard backstep timing:
press guard first, then your B (on xbox) and then quickly after the actual back direction on the joystick
ideally you want to do it as fast as possible, but it's a tip I read from somewhere else that has pretty much eliminated all the accidental "face your back towards a monster and guard slash" moments we all love 🙂
I also read this tip helps especially bc the guard animation before sunbreak was different, and the new one where you are more mobile while guarding can mess up that backhop more than it used to
Oh so the current moving while guarding is new? I was doubting myself 🤣
That last bit is comforting, I thought I just got worse at the backhop for some reason lol
Ok, that is why I can't click almost instantaneously after pressing guard. I remember in Rise I can do that, but in Sunbreak I'm always guarding and then rotating backward.
Solid guide, very in-depth and easy to follow!
This is by far the best guide I have ever seen on any weapon in Monster hunter. Thank you so much
What an awesome guide, I learned a lot, and it's very well presented, thanks !
Very insightful, I learned a lot! I also want to compliment the graphic side of the video, the interface with the controller layout is very helpful, good job!
Please do a followup mentioning element/stagger multiplier for the moves, and the applicatiions of Destroyer Oil
Appreciate the feedback, this video took me like a week to make, and I would love to work on more projects like this in the future.
Hope this video does well enough to give me the motivation I need, I skipped on few things in this video due to not feeling so well and I want this to be out so the channel would stay relevant for a while.
The quality is insane! Awesome work!
Amazing effort putting this together! Concise and easy to follow. Learnt quite a few things thank you 👍🏼
Thanks for the kind words.
Was about to pick up SnS after having my fill with Gunlance, Lance and Hammer. Thanks for the vid!
i've crafted a self-made SnS build - 3 variations for 3 SnS (Bishaten, Bob and Garangolm) - made of Furious Rajang helmet; Bazelgeuse chest and waist; Seregios arms; and Rajang legs.
the skills on the set (rounding up all 3 versions of it) are:
Critical Eye 4;
Handicraft 3/4;
Razor Sharp 3;
Guard 3;
Speed Sharpening 3;
Free Meal 3;
Flinch Free 1/3;
Agitator 2;
Critical Boost 2;
Spare Shot 2;
Guard Up 2;
Load Shells 2;
Latent Power 1
Recovery Speed 1;
Furious 1;
Wall Runner (Boost) 1.
the focus of the build is not meta, it's purpose: to keep the defensive skills - Guard and Guard Up - at their sweet spot, while having some good offense and sharpness. that last one was for Garangolm's SnS specifically, since it has blue sharpness (because it reminds me of two weapons from a game i cherish that i completed a few days before Sunbreak released).
i have a Critical Eye 3 charm with no slots. it's not perfect, but it's the best i got; for now, it's here to stay.
what do you think?
Absolutely amazing guide thanks!
Duel blades main from MH world looking for a new weapon. This video just convinced me, thanks for everything.
Best mh video I ever saw. Gj
Great video bro, hope this goes viral
Such a great guide, great job !
Great video that taught me some new things. Not strictly necessary since you already explain what should be used and when, but if you do an update in the future a small section with MVs for attacks would be neat.
Keep repping SNS!
Amazing guide. Thanks so much!
BRO WHAT A VIDEO TO DROP HOLY
Nice guide, gonna finally make the switch to SnS because of this
Destroyer Oil not even being mentioned is funny but also kinda sad lol. It’s like they heard all of our cries about wanting Oils back but they didn’t want to add them in, so they compromised by giving us the weakest Oil possible.
Yus!!! Show'em how it's done, Harv!!! 😃👊👍
Thanks for the guide
Great guide
Great Video! Nice coverage. Would like to see a guide on chaos oil if any
Production quality over 9000
Good video. Sunbreak SnS is extremely fun
Your video is something else, amazing cannot describe it.
Glad you find it helpful.
@@Harv-E Totally helpful.
Holymoly finally!!!!!
this tigrex clip 14:49 is so disgusting
nice vid
Why does everybody always forget to mention that you can start a falling shadow after a scaling slash t_t which is (or at least it was before the introduction of shield bash) pretty useful to dodge attack
eg. you use falling shadow to jump on a monster and use it's s to dodge the first attack, if the monster is going for a follow up you can use falling shadow again midair and get to safety
That is awesome to hear 😳
I have falling shadow to continue air combos, or to dodge in air with the weapon drawn.
Dude I love this, please can you do dual blades next? I got my homegirl into the game would be able to learn so much from your video
I personally love drill rush. The animation for it is sick and it feels very satisfying so I’ve been running it
Hard basher feels satisfying too and actually serves a purpose
I like that you have to specify one of the pros of backstep is that it looks cool. It does but like 90% of sns players, I don't bother doing it cause I'm too busy mashing hard basher.
The layout of the video is very pleasing to look at. However, the blue bar at the bottom can be a little much. Especially when you present other focal points, like the inputs and the gameplay, at the same time. All in all it's a great video nonetheless.
I've been pretty much maining SnS since base Rise and there were some very helpful tips in this video. I can't wait to try some of the combos mentioned!
If you don't mind me asking, what is your mixed set for Offensive Guard? Seeing you mention it at 16:19 made me remember to give Offensive Guard a try.
The super secrete stuff made me secrete stuff
This was a great video! Very helpful. Any tips for pulling off the lateral slash combo/infinite loop better? I was 100% of the time using Hard Basher Combo or Drill Slash Combo in Rise, and now I find it very difficult to not press the stick during combo inputs. I feel like it's harder to get my hunter facing the right direction/be close enough to the monster.
the only way is to not hold the left stick at all, I'd recommend using lateral into twin blade combo as it's only 3 inputs repeated over and over on openings
Excellent guide. Do you have an opinion on P.rush vs lateral slash looping? MonhunMeta seems to think there's no longer a point in doing P.rush when the lateral loop does as much damage as it does on top of elemental SnS being worth using again but I see you using both options pretty often in your runs.
P.Rush is viable on shield bashing playstyle, wanted to cover that stuff with motion values and what style is preferred on what condition in depth with builds.
Will make a follow-up video when I feel better.
Amazing guide : good info, video example and presentation ! 👌
Some questions :
1) for dmg optimization with perfect rush, is it better to finish early with reaper (then follow with something else) or to go to falling bash then roundslash ?
2) How and when do you chose between using a combo loop (finishing with reaper and reset with rising slash) or a combo Infinite (using either roundslash or twinblade to chain) ?
Finishing Perfect Rush with Spinning reaper is never worth it, only use it when you wanna finish early and that's it.
Finishing with reaper and reset is best used when the monster is recovering from stun, because most of the time you'd be missing regular looping attacks and the chances of reaper staggering the monster are higher if you're lucky enough.
@@Harv-E thanks !
Can you do this format for MhW:I too? So good
Very good, u can make more video for all weapon? Please, thank you
This took me like a week to make, my PC is too weak to handle heavy editing stuff.
For now I'm planning on covering some stuff I missed in this video and then CB guide.
I won't be able to do justice for other weapons even if I try.
This is actually super good and now I'm kind of worried about how you'll handle all the ins and outs of Charge Blade 😅 I'm still wrapping my head around everything new and I've been using it since 4U
Just done with Basics & doing the Phial Mechanics & stuff, structurally it is very sound for now. I'll have issues with visualising some advance stuff.
@@Harv-E If you want any help, at least mechanically, let me know!
@@MarkerMurker thanks man, I barely used CB in Rise. Used to play it a lot back in Iceborne, that knowledge is helping me for now.
I'll be asking few things here and there as I get deeper into the advanced stuff later.
Any1 know what SnS theyre using in the vid? Looks great would be a nice layered.
I'm struggling with backstep dodge. Is there any tips?
Wow man, while the esthetic part could be improved the quantity of information and the easy-to-understand way you show it is top notch, are you going to do only the sns?
Working on CB guide now, should be out by tonight or tomorrow.
My issue is that we can't turn off the text and input pop-up we get in the training area that would clear the screen clutter by a mile.
Hi Harv, can you recommend the optimal combo for toppled monster in multiplayer where we should’t use bomb shoryugeki. I find it very difficult hitting metsu in multiplayer and usually just let wirebug sitting off cd or have to switch to windmill
Best one on a weapon with good sharpness would be:
rising slash/advancing slash > lateral slash > return stroke > roundslash or twin blade on repeat.
Xbox inputs:
(Y+B) / (RT+Y) > B > B > (Y+B) / Y repeat.
Weapon with bad sharpness:
Perfect rush.
Can you do a charge blade tutorial next?
I’m wanting to try it out, since it’s like SnS but bigger and flashier,
Been working on it past week, should be ready by tonight or tomorrow.
@@Harv-E My body is ready >:O
Ah yes the bible
Is perfect rush really not worth doing it anymore?
on weapons with bad sharpness it is the best option to punish downed monsters
Huh. Guess advancing slash is better than I thought.
Why not body use destructor oil?
It's terrible
And here I thought I was good with SnS. Silly me :|
destroyer oil got shafted pretty bad not even worth to put it in this video
Wanted to dedicate an entire video making fun of it, maybe in the next one.
@@Harv-E i only use it in multiplayer because all of the LS player didn't even bother to cut the tail
