  • The first country-wide mass drug administration in the world for the treatment of scabies is happening in the Solomon Islands.
The World Scabies Program is spearheading the mass drug administration (MDA) program with the Solomon Islands’ Ministry of Health, which will deliver ivermectin to the whole population, with few exceptions.
Joining me today from Australia to discuss scabies, the MDA and the situation in the Pacific is Sarah Andersson. Sarah is the Program Manager with the World Scabies Program, Murdoch Children's Research Institute in Victoria, Australia.

It’s also “Zoonotic” meaning you can catch scabies from dogs and cats. I moved into a house where they had 3 infected dogs that infested the house because they never cleaned!

@@-nanabananaNot true, there are so many different mites ! I never borrowed clothes, shower at Max every other day.
My parents have a half feral cat that lies everywhere.
I wanted to brush it , saw white flakes and brown dots.
      Went to the vet.
Even 4 hands couldn't part the thick undercoat.
      Said it skinflakes.
3 days after I sat on their couch, the itching started.
At night. Then I thought I had an UTI. Went away. Thought I had conjuncivitis. Went away.
Called a dermatoligist. ONLY in 3 days.
I scratched out 10 adults, 10 juveniles, made tape after tape .....50 TAPES in 3 days.
Needed one look from a dermatoligist to Transfer me to infectious diseases. To the drug store, 4 medicines. But at high risk for allergie reactions.

I got it from a massage in Boston. It was a cheap place and the probably used the same towel! One of those reflexology place.
IT iS HELL! Mine started in my back, and chest and all above my my belly. So atypical.
After being treated for eczema I remembered the stupid massage.
I'm on Ivermectin (second dose) but will do the cream too. I fumigated my house. Why am I itchier after taking the pills?

Because the skin and immune system reacts of the dying mites . You should get a cream for dry skin , and one containing some cortisone that helps with the itching. Your skin pushed out dead or dieing Parasites and you can't tell me you didn't scratch at all. So the skin is irritated, damaged. Maybe there is a secondary infection with bacteria like Staphococcus ( Aureus) which is NORMALLY on our skin, but on DAMAGED SKIN - IT'S A BIG PROBLEM !

An overdose of ivermectin, can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hypotension (low blood pressure), allergic reactions (itching and hives), dizziness, ataxia (problems with balance), seizures, coma and even death. It is an antiparasite drug not an antiviral, though of course if someone has a parasitic disease as well as. COVID-19 their health could benefit from treating the parasitic infection.

Mom died last year from covid while I was staying with her. I was fine.
Hospitals have changed. Lots of children in charge back then. Elders quit and was protesting.
I also worked in hospitals... would never take the jab either, also won't step a foot in the hospitals or physician. Seen too much. Rather die without their cures at home but I keep educated about their new forms of treatment.
