About Oman Air (from Wikipedia):
Oman Air (Arabic: الطيران العماني) is the legacy airline (flag carrier) of the Sultanate of Oman. Based at Muscat International Airport in Seeb, Muscat, it operates domestic and international passenger services, as well as regional air taxi and charter flights.
About Boeing 787 (from Wikipedia):
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is an American wide-body jet airliner developed and manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. After dropping its unconventional Sonic Cruiser project, Boeing announced the conventional 7E7 on January 29, 2003, which focused largely on efficiency. The program was launched on April 26, 2004, with an order for 50 aircraft from All Nippon Airways (ANA), targeting a 2008 introduction. On July 8, 2007, a prototype 787 was rolled out without major operating systems, and then the aircraft experienced multiple delays until its maiden flight on December 15, 2009. Type certification was received in August 2011 and the first 787-8 was delivered in September 2011 before entering commercial service on October 26, 2011, with ANA.

Have you ever flown Kenya Airways? Just curious.
It’s quite obvious the Omani government grew weary of funding Oman Air’s losses and now the airline is in extreme cost cutting mode. Service and quality of food is down, and yet fares are so high that most of the time they’re not competitive. The airline currently under temporary management after firing most of the old regime and being run by a committee.
Flew the same route but started in London.
Huge contrast between the London-Oman route and the Oman-Bangkok one.
The former had some of the best crew we’ve ever had. The latter, not so much.
The food and seats were also vastly different. Seems they reserve the best for the more profitable route.
I think its just typical mid east racism in favor of Europe
Hmm that makes sense. The most experience crew probably bid for London!
This happen frequently with middle eastern airlines. They use the South East Asian customer to funnel traffic to their hubs but treat that customer as an after product. So many other reviewers have encountered shocking flights from Bangkok, to Mumbai, to Vietnam and in between.
@@NonstopDanno Dan, they bid for BKK. The answer is there is no proper standardization of service. Imported QR lady failed miserably….
NONSTOP DAN OBLITERATING THOSE TOILETS
We did not need this comment😭
Airlines are next to their cities the lifeline of middle east countries. So they always try to top eachother.
I agree with Dan, Oman's airport is my favourite airport in the middle east as well. Its vibes are grand but yet soothing and comfortable, washrooms are always clean, the signs aren't confusing and easy to navigate and the staff are friendly. Imo, It is way better than Qatar's HIA airport which is a huge mess to navigate around and the staff can be a hit or miss.
I found Doha aurport to be pure chaos. So many people everytime I went there. There was never enough seating for people. Felt stressed just walking there. I love Qatar Airways their cabins and food alot though.
DOH can be a catastrophe, especially if you are transiting during the rush hour around midnight, and have the pleasure of getting remote stands for both the incoming and outgoing flights. The interminable sighteeing tour around the airport can be a nightmare, complete with traffic jams, traffic lights, alternating one-way travel on single lane roads, luggage trains without proper lighting chugging along at a snail's pace, etc. Then the packed terminal has all the charm of a US inner city high school assembly hall on a really bad day. The pointless security checkpoint for transfer passengers is a disaster zone, and so forth, and so forth. And Qatar's Q-suites are overrated, in my opinion. I'll take Oman Air's business class seats any day.
Really enjoy watching your flight videos Dan. I currently live in Muscat and have not used Oman Air for some years now. Since BA have seemingly given up their direct flights from MCT to LHR Oman Air have been charging like a raging bull for business class seats on this route. My allegiance is now firmly with Emirates even though this involves travelling via DXB. I find the Emirates A380 hard product and superior cabin service more than makes up for the inconvenience of a slightly longer trip. My preferred seat is also 25K! 😀
Love your videos Dan!! You are the sole reason why aviation is one of my biggest obsessions 😂
That's amazing - thank you🥺
Same!
I like Oman as unlike many of the Gulf countries it doesn't try to be something it isn't.The spikey mountains around Muscat are amazing for an urban environment.
Great review once again!! Keep up the great work Nonstop Dan!!
Always the best aviation reviews
Hi from Qatar! The potato chips are actually Oman Chips which is a very very popular chips brand in the Gulf region.
excellent job as always. looking forward to seeing you flight ITA Airways' A330neo!
I love Oman, I´ve been there 3 times. Sadly I only flew economy class on Oman Air but I remember being quite impressed. Great video as usual, Dan!
100% agree Dan, I also flew from Paris via Muscat to Bangkok in Business class and the crew are extremely inconsistent. I note they were absolutely wonderful on my return however.
Amazing video Dan! I love your content! ❤
Love the cabin interior color choice, and the frequent flyer “Sinbad” miles
As always your honest appraisal is appreciated. So sad that the crew didn’t seem to understand that civility is paramount to superior experiences. It’s a shame the food was sparse and mediocre.
Hey Dan! I’m in Charleston, SC and live suuuuuper close to the Boeing plant. Have you contacted them in regards to possibly getting a tour and seeing how the 787’s are constructed? Idk if you’d be able to necessarily film a *ton* of content, but the process is incredibly fascinating and I think you’d love a tour of the plant regardless. I see these planes while getting their final touches before being delivered and quite truly quite something.
You should fly Korean air next time. I flew their 747-8 on the upper deck from Seoul to Los Angeles (highly recommend row 18, you have 5 windows all to yourself). The lounge was spacious and not crowded, seat was also an apex suite but with more privacy. Food was great too!
Amazing content as always.
u ligit inspire me to make vids u are the best ngl
Great review! Enjoy Chiang Mai!
The hard product never makes up for fails like this in the soft product, especially crew indifference in a premium cabin. I hope Oman Air sees this.
I have sat at your seat and the one in the middle; comparing both I prefer the seat in the middle tho 😅 It's unfortunate that the service has gone down but Oman Air is my first time experiencing Business Class....so Oman Air will always have a special place in my heart!
Hi Dan, your experience contrasts markedly with my recent flights on Oman Air. I recently flew KL to LHR via Oman, returning CDG to KL. On all 4 flights service was top level and food sublime, perhaps it was the crew on your flight, Im also not a vegetarian so didnthave the same issues as you on food selection. Theyve also just reinstated the amenity kits with an awesome selection of Amouge product. I must say Oman Air Apex suite FTW!
My partner and I flew a Qatar business class flight on an Oman A330 that had been wet leased. Completely agree with your video, the seat is amazing especially in the bed mode.
lesss go i was waiting for this
Dan you are too good! Big fan of your channel 🙂
hey, if outdated is comfy, we like outdated 😆
I flew Oman Business Class last year KL - Muscat - Heathrow and the return trip a month later. I found the crew on all flights friendly and attentive and the meals enjoyable. I got amenity kits and pj's on an overnight flight. The seat is great especially the window seat, though I found the aisle seat too exposed.
I also found the entertainment lacking and disappointing.
Number 1 for 3 times in a row. Gr8 vid.
Have an amazing weekend. Fly safe. Cheers.
I've always enjoyed Oman's economy class
Mom just did Chennai-Cairo return via Muscat on Oman Air. I had suggested it to her after all the reviews on the internet (albeit focusing on Business Class).
She said it was really not worth it, with terrible service, even getting a glass of water was a challenge, and the food was mediocre in Economy and the portions abysmal (and she really doesn't eat too much). Dunno if it's discrimination thing some Airlines have against Indians or what, but overall seemed quite different from the Avgeek CZcams.
fellow tamilian?!
Honestly, several gulf airlines have a terrible economy class. Emirates is the worst scam of them all. They have shiny first class and business class seats (Emirates business class is shit though), but the general population in economy is seen as scum, I guess.
it could possibly be the route. i saw another comment saying that the service was excellent from point x to x, but was ‘terrible’ from point y to y. i honestly forgot the locations, but it does seem that they reserve their best service for popular/profitable routes.
That's unfortunate! I suspect she also got their worst planes on those routes😩
3rd world countries get 3rd world sevice. why are you surprised?
I always enjoy your honest reviews of airline’s Dan, so thanks once again 👌
I absolutely adore Oman and Oman Air. The Muscat airport feels like my second home
Happy 787K subs!!
We flew with Oman economy in 2017. The IFE and food was mediocre, and the only good thing was the 34in seat pitch. Muscat airport was nice enough apart from the toilets where the cubicle floors were full of water.
Love your videos, Dan ~ appreciate the efforts you put into your content.
My wife and I are traveling to Oman next year from Australia. Would you recommend traveling to Oman in light of the conflict in Israel and the possibility it expands into a broader conflict across the Middle East?
Yes, Oman will absolutely continue to be safe and I highly recommend a visit!
the amenity kits are given but u have to ask for it but if you are flying it at night it is given even on the 1 hour flights and in economy
Hey, it might be interesting if you reviewed Qantas considering the crisis they are going through at the moment, but obviously I’m not charge of your money and you probably have plans. Nice video
OMG BABY DAN 😍😍 you Were Wide eyed 😂😂 you look like TEN in the older video
CONGRATS ON BOEING 787K SUBS
1:03 didn't expect Oman Air to be parked right next to a FlyArystan lowcost airline plane
Beautiful video. Hope you feels better 😅
I feel like amenity kits will gradually be dropped by most airlines....
yayy new vid!!
Cool video !
Hi Dan
Just flew Oman business from Munich to Muscat and I can agree with your review 50%
The first flight was perfect, crew greeted me by name and the amenity kit is nice as was the food.
But on my day flight back to Munich I could copy your experience a 100%.
For me it totally depends on the crew and their mood if business feels like it or lacks the experience.
Thanks for sharing your trips.
By the way I loved staying in Oman😊
Can't wait to use my AAdvantage Miles for a Business Class flight in Oman Air next year
They’re still missing a lot of connections…. I guess that’s part of the “boutique” ethos
I flew from Sweden to Thailand on Oman air business class earlier this year, and I found it to be great a extremely great value for money. I did the same trip on Finnair just a few weeks ago and the experience was all in all better on Oman air.
I will opt for Oman air on future travel,
Does Oman Air serve any airport in Sweden?!?
@@johanrebel SAS to CDG and Oman from there.
And No problems w. Connections ect ? Im planning to do the same out of CPH. But with our family of four. But is a bit hesitant due to “fear” of eventual delays and 2 stops 😅
@@lausravnsted5116 On the way back I had a stop in Frankfurt and that airport is huuuge - and I had to take the train between terminals. Never made it to the lounge on that stop.
Otherwise it was smooth sailing.
The stop in Oman is great, the airport is not that huge and well laid out, and the lounge is great.
I kind of prefer to break up the long leg of the trip into two flights with a bit of a legstretch in between.
@@lausravnsted5116 I've done that a number of times when FRA-MCT was still a morning flight. That entailed taking the first LH (not SK, thank God) flight from CPH, with a connection time of about 2 hrs. Doable, but very tight if you get a remote stand on arrival; take a bus tour of just about the entire airport; end up at Terminal 1; and have you make your way from there to a D or E gate in Terminal 2. Lots of fun when the Skyline is out of service.
WY116 is now an evening flight (much to my regret, I prefer day flights), so there are several flights from CPH that will arrive early enough to give you plenty of time for your connection. WY116 also almost always departs FRA late. The schedule is well padded, though, so unless it leaves very late, it will make up for lost time and arrive on schedule, or even early. On the rare occasions that it does leave FRA on schedule, you may find yourself arriving at MCT almost an hour early.
At MCT, Oman Air will keep outgoing flights waiting if there are enough connecting passengers arriving on a delayed inbound aircraft. The other week I flew to MUC, and that flight as well as ones to FRA and CDG were kept waiting for up to an hour for connecting passengers arriving on a late flight from HKT. Ended up arriving at MUC late (making up for lost time on westbound flights is hard given the jetstream), and I then had to make my way from Terminal 1 to the Terminal 2 Satellite (J,K & L gates). That took an hour, despite the fact that Lufthansa provided a shuttle bus for transfer pax departing directly from my arrival gate. I made it with time to spare, but not much. If, however, I had chosen to fly via FRA or CDG, I most likely would not have made my connection.
Oman air have the most wonderful and courteous cabin crew
My Fav Business Class without doubt is Oman Air
I love nonstop dan
No US airline could use this seat, half the passengers wouldn’t be able to get into the window seats lol
Amazingly, Oman Air is 3-4 years away from turning a profit. Compare with the likes of Singapore and Qatar that are already making record profits. But I'd consider using it between Lkmfon and Muscat. Operational efficiency looks good.
Their website failed us when we booked business to Muscat; we were allowed a free change when booking, but when we tried they wanted 500E each, and no way round it, despite complaints.
The snack is called Chips Oman its a very popular snack in the Middle East :D
Your Partner has GORGEOUS eyes
Really like your honest reviews and your attention for detail. You are expecting full premium in premium cabins and that's a valid point. For me personally, the comfort of the seat is most important. If I can get a lie flat seat for a decent price and the service isn't top notch, I honestly don't care. If the food is edible and the quality isn't worse than what you get in a decent restaurant, that's fine for me too. Don't need all the bells and whistles, just like to get to my destination comfortably. Heck they could even serve me the economy meal in business if the price is right and I wouldn't care much since I prefer to eat before the flight anyways.
787 subcount incomming, you earned it :)
Btw amenity kit is given per request but on the way back it is given to everyone.
Bro had food poisoning and drank 5kgs of caffeine on the flight 💀💀

Oman Air Have A Great Business Class Product,My Opinion.Great Trip Report
Oh Man, what a review!
Can we have a more updated British Airways Review?
Sadly I have to agree. Flew to Manila before Christmas, no amenity kit, not even a toothbrush, poor food, indifferent service, non working WiFi that I gave up trying to get refunded. The airport itself is very nice, the antithesis of Dubai and the lounge and food were superb. The other thing to note is that you have very few options to do anything with your points, unlike other middle Eastern airlines.
02:15 Dan, when I have problems with my stomach because of a different menu in other countries, I always take some probiotic.
@non stop Dan- We would love to check out the current status of Air India and Air India Express. Please travel and we would like to see more of your Indian reviews
Flew them i. September. Got a lovely amenity kit
Wahh, the trash pedal in the bathroom 😭 whyyy don’t all planes have this 😂
Can’t believe I’m this early! Love your videos Dan :)
Aw thanks for watching so early!
I remember back in 2005, Oman Air had to be one of the nicest flights to fly out of Lucknow to Muscat. Great staff, amazing service and I'll fondly remember my family and I being upgraded to business class as they couldn't get a bassinet seat for my little brother. My first flight ever and so glad it was with them.
*Seal of Saturn*
on seat backs!
Such a disappointment. I booked 2 business class seats on Oman Air earlier this year from CDG to BKK via MCT based on NSD's review and was delighted with the hard & soft product as well as the fare price. They are still great value and the cheapest best value gulf airline. During a recent promotion the price of a business class fare to Perth , Australia via Muscat & KL from Paris CDG was only €1317 flying on the 787-9, A330-300 & 737-8 (Malaysia Airlines).
No desert? That's my favorite part..
Dan I was on this exact flight last month what day did u fly?
With the lackluster service, did you notice if this was cabin-wide or with just you?
Cabin-wide by the looks of it!
Can you try Royal Brunei Airlines 🙏 brunei is a country in Asia
I used to consider them on my way to Thailand but they've vanished off of Aeroplan for points redemptions.
Am I wrong or did the lettuce(?) in the replacement appetizer look...less than satisfying either, like parts didn't even look green and I'm not sure if that's cause they were more purple for example or were wilting...(I should note I probably should eat lettuce more so I don't come off ill-informed lol)
So disappointing when the soft product is so bad. The seat great, but food and service is so important
I hope more airlines add mattress toppers and other amenities for business class as they get rid of first class
Omanair didn’t hire Quatar airways cabin crew trainer.
Instead Quatar Airways hired omanair crew (wet leased) and leased omanair aircrafts.
With Dan's Aztec 2-Step, I would NOT want to be the unfortunate soul who uses the lavatory immediately after him 🤢🚽
Can u review fits air and srilankan airlines
I love your vids I learn a lot from you BUT I know you travel a lot BUT please be careful as to much is going on in the area's you travel in, so BE SAFE!!
Don't worry Oman is a very safe stable country located around 1500 miles from the Israeli Palestinian conflict. This is much further than somewhere like the UK is from Ukraine!

Dunno if you'll see this but im curious - are you able to expense the flight costs as a business expense? What about travel to/from airports? I would imagine if your business is about reviewing flights, the tax man has to allow it?
@@chloekpearl it's this thing called curiosity? Ever heard of it? Why do you care why I care about this?

Guys, he's done it. he's hit 787K subs.
U should try BA again
Hi Dan . I flew Oman Air to Muscat having returned the end of Sept ... bucket and spade I might add... I have to ask; did you do something wrong, because compared to what you showed, the meals were extremely amazing on my trips and the flight attendants who engaged with myself and others were genuinely warm. I do agree with you. It's a very friendly country and the experience worked to replicate that. I'll definitely travel Oman air again... Maybe you should trade down and travel on one occasion incognito (but record it for us to see) like the rest of us... you may find the experience a reconnecting and rewarding one. Oh genuinely look forward to seeing your videos .. often good content 👍
I'm glad you had a great experience!
@@NonstopDanThanks Dan; hope if you travel with them again soon, Oman Air will close the expectation gap for you too and similarly make it a great one👍.
Took four business class flight with them last month, and everything was just fine. As a regular WY passenger I know what to expect, so I don't board with the wrong expectations. Regarding the catering, WY has unfortunately downgraded their offering on domestic flights. In addition the the PDB, coffee and dates, hot/cold towers (twice) and the bar service, which are all still there, you would get a choice of two proper hot meals: breakfast, lunch or dinner, depending on the time of day. You still get a choice, the meals are still hot, but now consist of a couple of foccacias or the like. That's disappointing, but still better than most airlines out there.
Gentleman dan❤
YOU HAVE 787k SUBSCRIBERS!!! It's a sign lol
