- A first-person perspective Madrid walk tour of Retiro Park (aka Buen Retiro Park), which translates to “Park of the Pleasant Retreat”. The park includes a large boating lake next to the Alfonso XII monument, the beautiful Cecilio Rodríguez and Rosaleda Rose Gardens, Crystal Palace glass pavilion, Plaza Parterre, as well as many sculptures and monuments.

What a beautiful well kept park. So spacious. There are mosaic walkways in wildlife area with roaming peacocks. The statues and architecture looks so grand. I understand the park belonged to the royal family up until 19th century. Also it is more than 300 acres. The royal connection explain the grandeur. Madrid city council deserves kudos for such clean litter free park. The impatient and begonia flowers are so well looked after. They must water the greenery and flowers regularly to keep them so nice. Tried to spot WW logos ,but failed. Thank you for letting us walk with you in lovely Madrid.

I love Retiro's Park!! I used to run every single sunset just there!!
I love this type of parks that you can be isolated from all the bustle of cars and the stressful pace, in the very center of the city, and this one in particular is very beautiful and romantic. As a curiosity of this park I think that inside it is the only monument to the devil of the world, 45:15 "the fallen angel".

Aranjuez has a couple of extremely beautiful parks and a small cascade in Tejo river. I loved it there.

I hope you can enjoy Madrid soon. In summer it's usually empty because the locals flee to the coast escaping from heat

Wonderful virtual walking tour and a nice mix of nature and urban of this beautiful city, thanks for sharing! It calms me down after a long workday! :)
You can also check the oldest tree planted in the park, we call it "Pantalones", "Trousers" hahahaha.... it was planted in 1634. It´s located in "El Parterre"... 1:08:05, the big one in the right folowing the path of the trimmed myrtles...

45:12 fun fact about that statue, its called ‘ el ángel caído ‘ ( translated would be ‘ the fallen angel ‘ ) and it was built at 666 meters above the sea level. not many cities have statues dedicated to the devil, and madrid has two of them (the other one is kinda hidden in a rooftop at Calle Mayor.

Wonderful video. I think in future videos you should include the Promenade of the Statues of Kings of Spain with the one of Queen Urraca de Castilla, first queen in Europe, 12th century, just in front of the big pond. Indispensable.
@Watched Walker Thanks for your ♥️. And that Promenade shows the statue of King Alfonso IX (Alphonse the ninth), creator of the first Parliament in the world and the first Constitution, 12th century. The English created their Parliament in 13th century and Constitution still to come. Spain has got the most remarkable History and is the most interesting country, that's why many people took much time, effort and trouble to create the fake black legend against it. Cheers.

Looks comparatively empty of people compared to London parks. A lovely neat park though.
Believe me it depends what time of the day or which day of the week.
This park can get absolutely jam packed .
I lived in London for a year and the parks at times were absolutely dead.
Madrid is a city lived on the streets like very few can match except between the middle of July and August as so many locals leave the city for cooler climes.
Because it’s summer. Most people escape because of extreme heat. The temperatures at day in July and August are between 35 and 40 celcius.
In summer, 50% of the population of Madrid goes to the beach. The mediterranean is 2,20h by bullet train :)
Anyway, you're weird if you like parks full of people.
